Will your family not eat healthy? There is absolutely no reason you need to eat different than your family. Create a new reality for your family and show them healthy doesn't have to mean not tasty.

I love the book, because I can really hear Jillian in it. The only problem I am having is what to fix for meals. At least for dinners I want to find something I can make for the whole family so I am not making two meals.

I am so excited because just recently I set up my nutrition tracker using the suggested guidelines from the book and while it took a while to get it all done, I feel like it really put me on track to being better.

I started new supplements and already I've noticed a difference in my mood. It just feels good to know I am doing what's right for my body. You know?

Today is huge. I have met my Goal and then some. I do eat Whole foods, 35 % organic. I adopted what my grandmother did, scrub fruit and vegetables that came from the market and clean what comes out of my seasonal garden.
I am not against organic, just careful because, of the, where and what, was used in the soil and how the food was handled.
Today is the start of a new life to keep healthy for the rest of my days.

Have a marvelous Day.

I recently watched Food, Inc. and am reading Master your Metabolism. While the message to eat organic is not new, I believe the information in book is presented in a very concise manner, with charts and studies that show which foods and chemicals affect certain hormones. Very informative, and got me busy cleaning out my cupboards and buying 90% organic food. I've been doing this for one day so we will see how it goes.

It's true we all have heard lots about losing weight, but Jillian is pushing healthy clean wholesome foods and getting the stuff out that causes damage to your metabolism. I guess I'm not sure what you mean by choose wisely?

I didn't catch the PBS show :( It aired where I live a few months ago in the middle of the night, but the tv did not record it like it should have. Bummer. I will be on the look out for it to air again :)

Jillian tweeted that she will be resuming her radio show via podcast on her website as of January 2011..yay!

Did anyone catch Jillian on PBS doing a show on Master Your Metabolism? It actually was really good and it was nice to listen to her talk about the stuff in her book. Makes me really miss her radio show!

I just discovered a great substitution for diet soda. The brand of soda named Zevia is made with Stevia and doesn't have any calories. I found it at an organic food store near home. I was surprised at how good it tasted. Just thought I would pass on the tip!

I wish I had Jillian's book a few months back when I was learning all the facts for myself...I did all of my research on my own about 5 months ago and now I am 25 down and in better health! my first inspiration was Dr. Oz's episode about the 4 toxins in our food right now...and then I moved onto the documentary 'FOOD INC" if you have not seen this documentary you need to watch it! and make your stubborn spouses watch it too! I went right into my kitchen after Dr. Oz and highlighted all the corn syrup and hydrogenated soybean oils...MOST of our food was poison!!! I took all of that food and piled it in one area of my kitchen as a good visual for my husband...we haven't bought the same foods ever since...he lost weight I've lost weight and we are so much happier now! I encourage all of you to follow Jillian's book...she is a very smart woman

Your results are a product of the choices you make and the actions you take!!

sucess is right around the corner...u just have to move ur ass to get there!

Hi there!

I just thought I'd point you to the Environmental Working Group's website. I just got an email from them today that they will be posting their "Dirty Dozen" - basically the top 12 fruits and veggies they think you should buy organic or not at all and on the flip they give like 15 that are probably ok to do non-organic. (now some on the top 15 that are ok are things like corn which are not so good according to the JM book - but their list is based on pesticides and how they go into your body). I think the JM book is really focused on 1) what goes into your body and 2) making changes everywhere that are good for the environment and that will make social change - if company's know we'll buy in non-organic they'll keep selling it that way. Anyway, the EWG site kind of gives you a way to incorporate organic but not all the way. My email had a video that I hope they put on the site from Dr. Weil (?) that explains that the lists are supposed to help folks who may not have access to organic or find it cost prohibitive to have kind of a basic guideline for what is most important. Hope that helps!

Hi there!

I've been reading the JM Master Your Metabolism book and am pretty inspired to do a detox. Not a "buy some cleanser product" detox, but doing what she suggests about clearing the kitchens and our diets of the toxins. I found a team that was just started "Pure Inside and Out" that is going to follow a 21 day detox if anyone is interested (beginning May 2 or 3). I'm not sure exactly what the leader's plan is for the full 21 days, but I'm going to use the JM book along with some other books I've picked up to guide me through the cleanse. Any support for getting rid of a lot of the problem "foods" and chemicals from our diets is probably a good thing! For me, I'm looking forward to doing the detox as a way to incorporate these lessons learned from the JM book, the Spark book, and other sources. I have been on the slow and steady incorporation kind of system, but think I need a bit of a reset or kick-in-the-butt to really see some benefit from these life changes. I would love to see folks join this new team - the more the merrier :).

I make a little list of breakfasts/ lunches/ dinners/ and snacks that require just putting the ingredients in a container and storing. This maybe takes an hour a week, and I do it on Sunday. This is limiting-- I really only eat a few kinds of meals. But, I work full time and go to school, and now I'm planning a wedding, so easy is important. The only meat I eat is fish, so I'll buy some fillets and broil them with whatever fresh seasonings and lemon juice I have on hand. That takes all of five minutes. But to save time I'll do something like this:

Make three breakfasts of 1 cup egg whites, 1 ounce of whatever cheese I like, some frozen spinach with chopped onions and garlic. These go in pyrex.

Make three breakfasts of greek yogurt, walnuts, and strawberries or whatever other berries I have.

Make three lunches of mixed organic salad greens (bigger containers at Sams or wherever is actully, reasonable) some of that fish, some olive oil and vinegar, and add some kind of low fat dairy (I like cottage cheese, which is weird I know). Sometimes I'll add some pumpkin seeds.

Make two other lunches of a similar concoction as above but I substitute canned beans for the fish.

For dinner I usually eat that fish, or sometimes I'll actually a cook a dish and just eat that throughout the week. There are tons of recipes online that you can use. I like things you can freeze like vegetable lasagna. Also, some grains like Quinoa cook extremely fast, and you can just add some beans or grill some meat, add some frozen spinach and you're golden.

I also tend to eat fruits, almonds, baby carrots, and celery by just putting them in portion-sized ziploc baggies to go with me throughout the day so I don't end up in front of the vending machine. And for eating out, I try to go to more ethnic places like Greek or Thai. But, that to is fairly minimal for me. I think I eat out about once a month.

The changes I made were: getting a water filter, throwing out some BPA containers, move my carbohydrates into my earlier meals, no more coffee or diet coke (green tea now), no more splenda (try using fruit like pureed strawberries for sweeteners so you get the nutrition without the sugar addiction), sleeping and drinking water more, and I added fish to my diet because I was not eating fish before at all. I throughout some sauces and nonessential foods that had MSG and high fructose corn syrup as well. I struggled the most with the diet coke, artificial sweetners, and some additives in my favorite "diet" foods like microwave popcorn and protein bars. The result: lost about 12 pounds without feeling deprived, no longer feel tired, no more headaches, clearer skin, and peace of mind about my metabolism. I eat to maintain right now, and I'm not struggling with weight gain every time I indulge on a piece of chocolate or a cookie (treats are treats, though).

I'm taking it one thing at a time. To make all these changes at once, for me, is cost prohibitive. I'm changing one thing a week, until I'm where I should be.

Farmers markets are a great place to get less expensive organic products. Trader Joe's is pretty good. If you have a Wegman's near you, they can be surprisingly reasonable on cost, and even have sales on organic items.

You can also look on line for local farms which deliver directly what is in season. You can play, "Chopped Chef" every week, playing, "how do I cook this?". It's a lot of fun.

I understand the need to have quick stand by meals. Obviously, the best bet is to batch cook and freeze in individual portions. I usually do this once a week, though if I make stews, chili's, etc, I can do a month's worth quite quickly.

The other option is organic frozen meals. Amy's organics are amazing. Ian's are also quite tasty, and I'm sure there are many, many others. One piece of advice is to watch the sodium in these, as it can be quite high, so you'll need to balance it out elsewhere.

Good luck!

I've just read most of the book - scanned some of it... and there's sooo much! We're switching to organic... and tryign to eat mroe whole foods, but as a busy mom of three young kiddos... sometimes I just need a frozen or boxed meal!!! any ideas on how to make this all work and make sense??? what the main essentials I shouldn't miss, is what I think I'm asking.... thanks in advance!

Melanie-
Awesome job going vegetarian! As a vegan, I love hearing about it when people make the switch and it is working wonderfully for them.
**

I'm thinking about buying MYM, but I'm kind of afraid, if that makes sense. I know I'm supposed to get rid of these soy foods I depend on, get rid of things with artificial chemicals, take on not using plastics all the time for food, get organic house cleaners, and so on. I'm sure the laundry detergent will be on the list too of stuff to modify.

While I"m vegan and we already eat only vegan, mostly whole foods, I do use Splenda, soy products, stuff with artificial chemicals, and lots of plastic to store food.

This is actually a major change for people to make. I'm afraid that my husband will give me a hard time over the cost of organic food. I'm worried that I won't do this perfectly enough and that I'll miss something.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? Success stories that I can use to point out to my hubby that this is a good idea for both of us?

I've been into the UltraMetabolism program. It's very much like Jillian's program, just a bit more strict. Goes into more detail than her book.

I just bought the companion cookbook and it is phenomenal. The Thai Scallop Coconut Curry broth is outstanding!

Thanks for your response. 4 ways to boost your metabolism are 1. Physical activity that engages muscles throughout the day. 2. Sensible diet of small but frequent meals. 3. Cool temperature that stimulate heat production. 4. Exposure to bright light.

I have not read the "Flip the Switch..." book. I'll look for it in the library. As far as the fat %, I'm not tracking to one number myself. I'll go back through my menus and see what it was. I do try to watch it, but I'm not focusing on it. Right now my goal is to clean out the cabinets, eat organic at every possibility, eat "real" food, and manage my portion size. After I feel I'm stable with that I'm going to focus on calories and fat, etc. I'm still getting used to having to prepare all those vegetables.

Yesterday at the store I bought eggplant, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, beets, and carrots. The thought of prepping them is overwhelming, plus then what to do with them. I guess i'll just douse them with a little olive oil and broil them.

Please keep us posted on your progress and any tidbits you learn from the books.

I have a question- I am new to this team and I have not read the book or studied up on how to rev up your metabolism. I know that in Eat Clean- Reno's book they recommend that we should try to keep our fat intake at 18% of your total calories. Is that what many of you are doing here? I calculated what my fat grams would need to be: at 1550calories, I can only eat 36 grams of fat and that puts me at 20%.

Yes, awesome on the three pounds! Is there anything you've found in the book that particularly resonates with you? Anything that makes the biggest difference?

Just started reading Master Your Metabolism and I'm hooked. I've always read nutritional facts on foods, now I'm reading ingredients.
What a great change this will be for the whole family.

Finished reading Jillian's book last week, and lost 3 pounds, after being scale-stuck FOREVER! Wow! And I didn't deprive myself and wasn't able to work out much because of an injury.

Feeling really, really good and proud of myself for resisting easy food with questionable ingredients. Am finding that a hard change to make was eating every 4 hours (used to constantly 'graze' and snack), but I'm much more used to it now.

Just bought the book so I can read it again and highlight and dog-ear a bunch of pages. :)

Happy New Year to everyone. Has anyone read the Spark yet? I'm halfway through and it's fantastic! Speaking of books, wasn't Jillian suppose to have a Master your Metabolism cookbook done at the end of November? Or maybe that was just due to her publisher by then. For some reason I thought she was saying it was out before Christmas but I might be wrong.

I'm still holding strong. Today I found out that the monitors the biggest loser contestants wear are called body bugs. I now own my very own body bug that tracks every calorie I burn. Last night I practiced moderation and went out for a slightly healthy dinner out.

Great job - Every little bit helps.

I have made the switch and am now vegetarian - gave up all animal meat even seafood. It's been much easier than I had ever hoped it would be.

Good morning,

Today is my day one. I got up and looked around, the oatmeal in my cabinet is expired and my real sugar has a serious layer of dust on it, but I was determined to start today off strong. I made a cup of oatmeal, used skim milk to make coffee with organic beans, I made the switch to organic beans a long time ago because I thought it tasted better. I used 50 calories to eat real sugar to sweeten my food. I couldn't eat the entire bowl of oatmeal 1/2 a cup from now on and my coffee isn't that bad with sugar. Maybe these will be the changes I need to make a lasting transformation. I'm going to focus on putting one foot in front of the other today and sticking to eating properly. I'll have to go to the grocery store at some point to stock up on the right foods. Sorry Splenda it's time for my sweets to have calories.

All's well here. I feel like I'm getting back on track after a long stretch of watching from the sidelines...so to speak.

DH got home last weekend, and had the week off so we got to the gym together a couple of times and have been trying to eat the right foods. I just have to remember that I can't keep up with his calorie intake...I wish I could and have his figure though!

I'm going to start reading MYM again and get the details back in to my brain before the holidays hit.

Good luck with your vegetarian challenge!

Hi - Hope your still doing well. Hopefully your hubby is still coming home on the same day. Mine got home late last Friday.

Sorry to hear about your cheetos binge. Darn those binges. That is a great line when Jillian talks about no cheeto tree. I've also heard her use it in her Podcasts. Definately true!

If all goes well, he'll be home around Nov 8th. So not too much longer. We get to talk & email almost every day. And he's not stressed out at all, which makes our conversations so much more enjoyable.

Glad to hear you hubby is due home in a few days. Hang in there.

I haven't been eating all to well either. Yesterday I went on a Cheeto binge where I work. There was a HUGE bowl of them. I wish Jillian's words of "never seen a Cheeto tree" popped in to my head. I'm going in with more will power today...who knows what kind of temptations will be in the break room.

On that note...time to get something substantial for breakfast so I won't just dive in to the first bowl of goodies I see!

Hi Amanda-

Hang in there. I'm so glad hubby is coming home Friday. I'm so exhausted and run down right now. I'm not getting enough sleep and my son's homework is killing me. We are up till 9:30-11:30 (only once that late) every night doing it. Monday night was 10:30, last night was 10pm. It's just wearing me out not having any down time to relax after working. This week I've broken down and bought a lot of frozen fast things for dinner for everyone. I just can't get cooking done right now.

Wow - New Zealand sounds nice. Hubby says it's too hot in Florida, lol. Nice problem dear. He can't wait to come though, I can just tell by his phone calls and texts.

Hang in there. When does he come home?

My hubby is in New Zealand...talk about not fair! By far, that's better than some of the other places he could be.

Now just today my son is coming down with a cold and I have a job interview at 8:30 for the position I've been subbing for over the last two weeks. My parents are available to come sit with my son, one of them, while the other one drives up to the airport to pick up my sister who is flying in for my son's birthday...which is today! Never a dull moment around here that's for sure.

My eating today was awful! But I'm well aware of it, and that makes it easier for me to get back on track.

I'm exhausted and I just hope and pray that my son will sleep through the night and this cold is no more than just a cold. **sigh**

Time to run a bath and get something nice picked out for my interview.

((Hugs)) hope your sleep gets better. Where did your hubby go? Mines in Tampa - so not fair! I'm just glad it's not Afghanistan like last year.

If you ever need someone to talk to while he is away - I'd be happy to give you my e-mail. I know what deployments are luck and it can definately be lonely. I'm glad you have family close. I live on opposite coasts as my my and my dad lives in the middle of the country. Hubby's family is 2 hours away, but that isn't the same at all.

How did your dinner go last night? yummy - squash sounds good. Last night my sleep was so much better. My son really only had to read a story and study his science, which finally clicked because this morning I quized him and he got all the answers right - YEAH!

Tonight for me, Pick up son, then I have to pick up my daughter from Cheer practice at the High school and then take son to guitar which will be done at 7pm and then home. Hopefully son has light homework tonight - because I'm looking forward to a relaxing night (Flashforward and Survivor are on). Sometimes watching tv is so relaxing -you can just turn your mind off.

Yoga at lunch was wonderful and very relaxing.

How come every time husbands deploy or are out of town on business something goes wrong? My hubby left last week for a short deployment, and I too can't sleep, plus things are starting to fall apart! I'm lucky that we live near family and they happily come to my rescue, but they are getting ready to head out of town next week! Who knows what will happen then?

With all that is going on, I'm struggling with my food as well. Tonight I'm making something with chicken and if I get off the computer I'll have enough time to bake a squash from my friends garden for dinner.

I hope you get some good sleep soon...I'm hoping for a good night's sleep myself.

How is everyone doing? I'm still struggling. I think because hubby is on a military trip and Sunday night and last night were stressful nights (sump pump basement emergency on Sunday and up till 11:30pm last night doing homework with son because he didn't do it afterschool).

I have yoga tomorrow at lunchtime - I need it :)

Glad to hear things are going well. I'm a cookie monster too sometimes, but last night it was ritz crackers. Why oh why I have no idea. I know how evil and bad they are. I was hungry and well the "cookie" monster just took over.

Moving on today though, so all is well.

Hi!!! Sorry I haven't been posting lately. Sometimes life gets so busy! Next week things start to slow down. My son has been taking rock climbing lessons and swim lessons every week since summer began...so we were gone 4 out of 5 weekday evenings. We decided to stop rock climbing, but continue swimming, so now I'll only be gone 2 evenings during the week. That should free up some time for SP in the evenings.

My eating has been pretty good lately. Except for lastnight I made some Peanut Butter cookies, and then the cookie monster inside me took over! LOL!! I paid for it with a bad night's sleep, too.

Seems like I'm able to eat with out having to track every single calorie...after 2 1/2 years of SP, I'm glad I've learned something. And I've dropped a couple pounds.

We have a pretty quiet weekend coming up, so I'll be able to check back in then! Have a great Friday everyone!

Good Morning everyone!!

It is Thanksgiving weekend for us here in Canada...Hubby and I are going to break with tradition and do something different this year. In 2003 there was a massive fire that came through the valley where we live. The fire destroyed some old train tressles (there were 18 of them)that were built in the late 1800's. These tressles are built high up the mountains and at the time were built by hand. With the help from the government and several years of pain-staking work, the tressles have been restored.
So, today we are making a trek up to the tressles. It will be a 3-4 hour trek and I have planned and prepared a clean picnic for us to enjoy once we get to the top. The view from the top is awesome and I think it will be a wonderful way to spend the day.
Tomorrow I am going to be starting a 30 day challenge and have started a thread if anyone cares to join me.

Have a Great Day!!

Hello! Sorry I haven't been posting this week. If I'm lucky I have just enough time to log in, spin the wheel and read a few of my Spark emails. By the looks of my calendar for the next few weeks, not much will change.

I went to the park the other day with my son and his friend, took my book with me with every intention of re-reading some parts, but got carried away in a conversation with a friend. I really want to keep reading a bit of the book weekly in hopes of keeping me on track with food. Now I just need to find the time to do just that.

Other than being super busy, life is good here!

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

No worries Deb...you are here now emoticon

Today is my cardio day...I have my spare room set up as a gym and have a TV in there so that when I am on the eliptical I can watch a show. (Right now I am watching Supernatural-my SIL works on this show in Vancouver)
My cardio can be anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes, depends on the intensity.. As much as I hate doing it...I feel sooo good after.
And now...I am off to work

Today is going to be a good day!

I have been an inconsistent poster :) It has been a week since I found out that I am hypothyroid. I have been eating JM fashion for 3 years and had lost 51 pounds and am back where I started because 1 1/2 years of gaining it back!!!
It's feeling better that has me looking forward rather than back!!!
Hope everyone has a super weekend! Deb

LOL... How true is that Amanda! I guess that is why I never read my horoscope!

Good for you on the breaky... I have a protein shake with a banana every morning. I think it started as a time thing and now I have done it for so long it is a habit..I am sure I could make it with my eyes closed now..LOL
I make up my lunches on Sunday afternoon...then it goes into containers and put in the fridge..then I just pop the containers in a cooler that morning and I am set to go. Works great if you don't have too much time on your break too.. emoticon

I LOVE when horoscopes fit right in with what is going on in life. But when they don't, I'm always left puzzled! LOL!!

Started off the day right, breakfast with in the first hour of being awake...it was healthy too!

My eating is going to be out of whack today as my work schedule is unusual for the next couple of days with no actual lunch break scheduled in. I'll have to pack a few nutritious snacks to get me through to dinner, and have that AM snack I just mentioned.

I'd love to chat more, but we are getting ready for school and I just heard the breakfast dishes come in to the kitchen!

Good Morning everyone...

What a wonderful morning it is!
Today I read my horoscope - something that I very rarely do, but for some reason...today was the day I looked....

"You can have a new-you in no time if you make alterations to your lifestyle, appearance or even your skills -- all bringing beneficial results. You will have a better chance to follow your dreams, hopes and wishes into the future."

So, not only do I know that today is the day...but the stars do too. LOL

I gotta feeling today is going to be a good day!

How is your day??

A friend of mine has Prevention Magazine's Flat Belly Diet book & cook book.

I just got my husband to start taking the supplements in the Belly Fat to Belly Flat book, he had a lot of the men's symptoms. Which is so weird because he works out ALL the time! He says he feels better now too!

I'm still working on getting us to eat like Jillian wants...from the earth and from a mother!

I just ordered Master Your Metabolism and Belly Fat to Belly Flat with the Belly Flat Cookbook. I joined Literary Guild to get them for 25 cents each. I bought some Christmas presents as well and only have to buy 3 more books in 2 years. I can't wait for them to arrive! I also want to order the 30 Day Shred video. Exercise TV has a promotion going where you can buy No More Trouble Zones and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and get 30 Day Shred free plus free shipping.

I thought about picking up YOU on a Diet before, but the word "diet" made me not want it. Of course I had been on SP for a while, and changed my way of thinking from "diet" to "healthy lifestyle". I do have a book called From Belly Fat to Belly Flat, it's all about hormornes effect on weight, too. I actually take the vitamins in recommended in the Belly Flat book. And I like having two similar books to keep me motivated in my quest to clean up my family's food & home!

Yes, I agree.

I posted last week and my post was the most recent. I got Jillians book last week and read it. Making lists of things to do. I cleaned the cupboards of anything w/ hydrogenated oils in it. Will hit the fridge tomorrow. I also got my copy of "YOU on a diet" off the bookshelf and looked through it again. Very similar plans.....so I guess if 2 great experts are saying the same thing they must be on to something. Did 15 min on the treadmill and will wear my pedometer to work today.

It is rather quiet here.

I had a pretty good food week. A few slip ups here and there. My biggest challenge was making sure I had enough of the right foods in my lunch this week. I've been substituting at my son's school all week...it was a little hectic getting us both back to school. I did good though and have the scale going in the down direction...can't complain about that!

Would love to see the chat on this thread pick up again.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend!!

I get this weekend all to myself...hubby is away at his dad and my son is at his grandparents house! I'm staying home and taking care of the chickens and myself!

Well, I hope you all have plans for a wonderful day! Keep it healthy and stay active!

Hello! I wanted to stop by and jump in on the conversation...just joined this team the other day.

I've bought organic as much as possible for a long time, but I have a hard time finding organic meats...but I won't give up!

I'm not only determined to make the changes for myself and my weight, but for the overall health of my family too. I have a feeling my husband's hormones are out of whack as well, he just won't admit to it yet. He looks VERY healthy on the outside, it's what's going on inside him that's a mess...headaches, not sleeping, anxiety, moody...etc.

Anyway...that's where I'm at, the beginning. I'm excited to put everything in to practice over the next few months and hopefully by the end of the year see some changes!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

I finally finished the book and am amazed by it. I have not weighed myself but I've been eating clean for about 2 weeks with two days off of it. On those two days I had bad headhaches. Let me explain...I have been gradually changing to all whole foods, organic more and more, I have water from the kangen machine, just like Jillian. With in the first 5 days someone asked if I had lost more weight.

On the 6th day I just didn't have the time to prepare food for supper so we stopped to get a pizza from Little Caesars, it tasted fabulous but with in the hour I had a horrible headache that went down my entire back. it felt like the nervous system was pulsing. The next day I still felt this way and finally had to take something for it. I vowed right then and there that I had to make this a high priority.

The neat thing is shopping at new places and putting our money in local shops! i love it. It does take more money to eat this way but lets look at this as preventative measures.

A magazine called clean eating has great recipes. I'm going to start my own recipes and keep them where I can find them.

Do it now or never!

Hi everybody! I read her book and try to stick with her plan. So far, I did not lose any weight!!!!
Also, I signed up on her website but I am very disappointed. Whenever you submit any questions for the team, nobody ever replies.
As much as like JM, her team of helpers are not following up with their jobs.

I'm about 1/3 way thru the book but I've switched to almost all organic food, especially dairy like Jillian suggests for people with PCOS. I would say we are at about 75% organic, the rest are labeled "natural" or they are minimally processed. I know that I feel better - it's been about a month. I really want to continue to learn more about COOKING with these foods though. I just need more recipes using whole foods that are not COMPLICATED. I am high on ambition, but kind of short on time! lol. I really wish there was more activity on this team.... It would be nice to get feedback from others...

If anyone is interested, please check out the "Eating Clean" group, there are some good resources that have similar principles as the Master Your Metabolism book.

Take care,

I'm about halfway through the book too, and have jumped ahead a little to get to the actual plan because I really wanted to start it today.

I don't plan on going grocery shopping until Tuesday. So I don't have all my foods for the plan just yet.

I go back to work Wednesday and my schedule will be grueling pretty much from then on, so I really need to be prepared!

I am ready to change my lifestyle and be healthy and fit!

Ok, gotta run...literally!

I am behind as usual, I am about half way through the book, and love, everything I've read so far makes perfect sense, I was wondering if anyone started a thread on here, and sure enough here you all are.

I haven't bought Jillian's book yet. I have requested a hold for it at my local library. I heard about the book while searching for books dealing with my thyroid.

A few months ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroid. However when put on synthroid my symptoms got WORSE. A lot WORSE. My doctor took me off synthroid and sent me on my way. End of story.

So I figured my hormones are all outta whack. I haven't made an appointment with an endocrinologist yet, but feel maybe I should. SURELY following Jillian's plan will help me regardless.

When I read about her book it sounded like it was written for me.

I bought a few magazines that have Jillian and her program in it. That will hold me over until I get the book.

So I'm new here, and looking forward to being a part of this group.

Made the pasta salad last night. Loved it. Thanks. I'm also inspired by JM's book. Everytime I read it, I discover something new to try.

Pasta salad:

Whole wheat pasta (elbows or penne)
Canned or frozen (thawed) artichoke hearts
Shredded carrots
Red or green peppers
Halved green olives
Feta cheese
Italian salad dressing (I use Newman's Own Light -- it's the only light one out there without HFCS)

Mix everything together in proportions you like. You can add any veggie you want. Try some black pepper on top and you're good to go.

Have fun at the picnic!

Does anyone have a good, clean recipe for a pasta salad for a picnic?

I found a great new (to me) product today. I have really missed soft tortillas. The consistency of whole wheat tortillas just doesn't thrill me. Today, I bought Food for Life brand Brown Rice Tortillas. They are sorta between the consistency of whole wheat and soft flour tortillas like they have in Mexican restaurants. So, a great find for me. I put it in the microwave just until it was warm and it tasted great (stuffed with chicken, avocado, organic spring mix lettuce, home-grown tomato, some Southwest Chipotle Mrs. Dash, a little grapeseed oil vegenaise and some brown rice.) I think I'll have a repeat performance tomorrow.

I've been very inspired by JM's book. I've re-read it more than once and found it gave me the momentum I needed to make new changes. There is so much information to it.
