Yeah, I'm with you there.
but, I'm not going to get all religious about this. I'm going to indulge sometimes, just not much. and being informed is a good thing; it makes us stop and think and make clearer choices.
so thanks for the original post.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

After re-scanning the article just now I see that it is okay to cut off the bad parts of fruit and eat the rest. Just got to make sure there's no part of the over-ripe stuff left. I wonder if over-ripe bananas fall into that category. Maybe not because we don't eat the peel. Hmmm I just don't know. But we all like to use over-ripe bananas for baking...like Paleo Banana Bread.

What the article said (or maybe it was in the video) is that any time you keep a fire going low in a closed container so that it produces a nice amount of smoke (like for smoking meats), something called methyl alcohol is given off and methyl alcohol turns into formaldehyde in our bodies. I probably won't give up eating smoked meats entirely but I won't eat much. I don't eat a lot of it anyway. Yeah, naturally smoked bacon is in this category; isn't that a bummer?!. Smoked anything.

Yeah. I usually whip up spaghetti sauce in about 15 minutes. Not anymore! lol

I don't drink juice either.

The smoked food. I wonder if that applies also to nitrate free, naturally smoked food. I smoke my own fish... and I get nitrate free bacon, sandwich meat. Nothing but sea salt and spices added.

Thanks
and darn!
I love smoked salmon
And though I don't drink fruit juices habitually I really love the organic pure grape juice I get off Amazon and have some a couple times a week. Darn!
And fruit--I'm such a miser. I will cut off the bad part of a piece of fruit and eat the rest. I guess that's not a good thing.
I drink very little alcohol these days but when I do it's either hard cider or a drink made with tequila and bottled lime juice. I guess that's not such a big deal since I don't do that very often.
Have to make sure I always cook tomato sauce a long time--I usually do anyway but I didn't realize the methanol/formaldehyde thing.
So much to think about

Aspartame is the technical name for the brand names NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure. While it's one of the most commonly used artificial sweeteners in the world, it's also one of, if not THE most dangerous food additive on the market today.
