Hey Tracy!! My hubby and kids refuse to change the way they eat, so I understand. I have to eat "clean" because of my gallbladder so I eat a ton of fresh and frozen veggies. Walmart has some good veggie blends in the freezer. supper easy to fix. I dump them in a skillet add some herbs and chow down! They also have fresh ginger, which is good on everything! I just cut a piece off, peel it and slice it and add it to my food.
Those frozen veggies can be added to any meat or even beans to change them up, so your not just eating the same thing over and over again.
I love them! I eat a bag a day by myself.

Please, Please watch and listen for motorcycles while your out and about!

Peace, Love & Hugs

Sounds like you have already made a great start.
I like to just see what's in my garden and in my fridge and use what's in there. If you make food from scratch and you know what your putting in your food you can't go too wrong.
Just read your labels.

Hi everyone! I've been contemplating Eating Clean for a while now. The whole concept just makes SO MUCH SENSE! I just finished "The Eat Clean Diet - Recharged" yesterday. I am getting ready to start "Your and I have ordered "The Eat Clean Diet". I am a fairly "healthy" eater already... no soda, no white bread, try to watch my intake of empty carbs... but I just don't know where to start to completely commit to Clean Eating. I believe that processed foods are poison but sometimes convenience wins over eating healthy... mostly because I just get lazy! Cleaning out the cabinets isn't an option... my husband refuses to change his eating habits... but I'm pretty good about sticking to healthy food if I know where to start. I would appreciate any suggestions for a starting point and any EASY recipes that don't require unusual ingredients (I live in a small town with only one grocery store and Wal-Mart).

I don't use any oil (body doesn't like it) so I use real butter or .... chicken juice ice cubes ...... I bake a whole chicken once week and I save the liquid from that and pour it into ice cube trays. So when I'm cooking my veggies I will put a couple of those ice cubes in with the veggies and the fat from the chicken keeps my veggies from sticking. I know it's probably not the best thing to do, but it works for me. I've tried making chicken broth before, but I didn't really care for it and it didn't work as well.
And I just can't seem to make myself spend 6 bucks on a 8 ounces jar of coconut oil.

I only use real butter (for toast, steamed veggies or similar), coconut oil (for frying and baking), olive oil (for salads or drizzling onto foods after cooking)

I probably use coconut oil more than any other oil.

So, here's another question. What do you use for oil? Butter, olive oil, coconut oil?

It does get expensive. And my budget isn't increasing. I think I'm going to stick with my Oroweat whole wheat bread for now. I can usually get it on sale for 2/$5.

I've only found Ezekiel bread in one store and it was over 5 bucks ...... I must have had a look of horror on my face, cause the girl told me of another store that carries it and it might be a little cheaper. Not sure what a "little cheaper" is, cause I'm not crazy about spending the $2.59 for the 12 grain stuff that I started getting. I keep thinking about just making it myself again, but I'm not sure if I want to go through all of that work and mess just for a loaf of bread.
Eating good should not be this hard!

I eat Dave's Killer good seed bread. I don't eat much bread, but when I do that's what I have. Ezekiel tastes nasty to me.
If you just want recipes, her (Tosca's) cookbook is nice.

I looked at the book but decided it wasn't worth the $20. Well, not that it isn't worth it, but I guess I pretty much knew what she was saying and there just weren't enough recipes in it to make it worth it to me. She did suggest living bread and mentioned Ezekiel so that cleared that up.

By the way, has anyone tried Dave's killer bread?

What's in the ingredients list? That will tell you everything you need to know.

Exekial is healthy, but it sort of has the texture of cardboard. It's allright if you toast it. lol

I'm working on my grocery list for tomorrow's shopping trip and want to start making changes to eating healthy. I don't have the book yet (hopefully this weekend) so I have some questions.

Bread - is living bread and living pasta clean? Like Ezekiel brand?

Mayo - what do you use instead?

Hummus - Sabra brand okay?

Anything else anyone wants to share?
