We've been working at our garden for over a month. Doing it in memory of my father who passed away last month. I love checking the sunroom and beds every day. Sweet basil is doing remarkably and smells INCREDIBLE. Corn and peas and doing well and had to hill the potatoes already and we just planted last weekend. Still only planted about 50% of all we'll plant, but it's a very good start and we're motivated every time we think of dad.

In NE Iowa we are still having frost... but, I have some patio planters going with my salad veggies. Just love to go out and harvest a meal. They are easy because I just keep a blanket handy and on frosty nights I cover and uncover in the morning. I have been eating my own salads now for a little over two weeks.
Can hardly wait to get the big garden started. Have heirloom plants I started from seed and I think they are very excited to get out and really grow. Thanks for the info. Happy gardening. Julia

I'll have to check out your blog--very timely! We are preparing the garden for planting but it's too early to put the seeds in yet. We can have frost well into the first week of June, and snow on the 4th of July is not unheard of.
