Let's see...

I've had fried alligator tail in south Florida - tasted allright, but too greasy.

I tried haggis once at a Scottish festival - didn't really like it. Not a real fan of any kind of organ meats, except I really love heart and liver (beef or venison, particularly). So... brains or testicles? I don't think so... EWWWW!!!!

Grandpa (from Finland, it it matters) used to like PB and cheese sandwiches; just a slice of american with whatever PB we had. I had a foster brother from Cuba that liked Tuna salad with grape jelly sandwiches. I never tried either of those concoctions, but a college roommate did get me to try M&M's on a tuna salad sandwich once, and it was actually pretty good!

And there is a restaurant in Anniston, AL called "Top of the River" that serves deep fried pickles - not a favorite, but definitely worth a try!

As for endangered birds or crunchy bugs of any kind, chocolate covered or not - blech!

I'm just saying... Kelley

LOL...eating bugs is how I know it's spring. I swallow my first bug of the year usually by May and I'm generally riding my bike with my mouth open when the choking starts. I like them better double dipped in chocolate!

Y'all got me wondering what a Puffin looks like. I was thinking more like a penguin, but here's a pic!!

I think my vote for the most unusual might have to go to the Puffin eater!

I had turtle once as a little kid. I wasn't bad. Tasted like a pot roast. The boyfriend eats tongue tacos. The meat is good, like a very tender filet mignon, but the knowledge of what it is keeps me away. My Romanian grandparents used to eat boiled chicken feet and fried chicken brains. I couldn't do it though. emoticon

My dad still eats pb and marshmallow sandwiches!! I can't do it though! Too sweet! I've never had alligator (that I know of! lol!!) but I grew up having to eat was put in front of me, so I tried liver, heart, cow tounge, and Lord only knows what else!! I just didn't ask!! My husband and father in law love alligator though!

I loved PB and marshmallow sandwiches when I was a kid. They’re called fluffer-nutters! Yum!!! (Adding a banana is a great bonus!) I still have one with my cousins on very rare occasions. (I live 900 miles away, or the occasions might be less rare. LOL)

Alligator is really good, and actually quite healthy too! We love a good alligator tail filet!

I grew up in a family where you had to try everything at least once before you judged it. LOL (Mostly, you try it and THEN ask what it was!)

Puffins! They're so cute though!!! I wonder if people eat penguins. Now I'm wondering - if Puffin doesn't taste like chicken, what does it taste like??? They eat fish, so I'll bet it's all oily and fishy tasting. yuck!

My dh ate muktuk - fermented whale blubber - when he lived in the arctic. I don't care how big the bet, that I would not do! Definitely ain't no soy meat!

wow that alot of weird stuff everyone has eaten.

everyone thinks I eat weird because I don't eat meat. I eat alot of veggies at meals and they think that weird. Go figure, that eating veggies would be weird.

There are also soy meat I would eat and its the same thing.

Ha! When I was younger I used to LOVE peanut butter and onion sandwiches! I guess the strangest would have to be alligator... We have traveled quite a bit and I usually try something local where ever we go plus I've had a lot of international friends. I'm sure there are other things I've eaten that were strange that I never knew what they were.

I tried a few bites of my fiancee's kangaroo out at a restaurant. It looked like little lamb chops, BUT it tasted VERY GAMEY!

I'm half Greek and at Easter time my family makes a soup called Mageritsa which is made from the Easter lambs head. I didn't know when I was really young that's what was in the soup. It's delicious, unfortunately most of my family moved back to Greece and I won't be making it any time soon. The thought grosses me out!

My aunt would serve the lambs head on a platter with veggies and all the older uncles would argue over the tongue and brains. I never put the two together until I was older.

We would cook the whole lamb out in the yard on a spit. This isn't weird to me but the neighbors were always interested. What was weird was the home made sausage type stuff my aunt made. It wasn't made every year but when she did make it she used all of the organ meats I guess mixed with seasonings and stuffed the intestines and they cooked it on the spit! Yea, I didn't touch that with a 10 ft pole!

I had a friend in Michigan that was really over weight. Her mid morning snack was always 2 peanut butter and mayo sandwhich. One day I HAD to try it. Not bad, but I'd rather eat my calories with better choices.

I can't think of anything 'weird' or 'unusual' that I have eaten. Certainly nothing like chicken feet or fried shrimp heads!!

In my world, the taste buds and eating habits of friends and family are soooo bland that hummus is strange to them.

So just the fact that me and dh are willing go to 'exotic' restaurants and eat the food makes us weird things!

Cow tounge. I didn't know I was eating it though! I was told after I finished it!! It was good steak! I haven't had any since then, and probably wouldn't if I knew what it was!

I'd have to say rattlesnake. My mom caught and killed it, and we ate it.

Debra, I live in the Rockies and I had to Google "Rocky mountain oysters". LOL We call them prairie oysters... but I've never tried them.

I guess the weirdest things I've had are deep fried chicken feet at a dim sum in Chinatown. (Seriously, what's the point of eating feet? There's nothing to them.) I've also had tripe soup at a Vietnamese restaurant and didn't mind it but I won't eat it again.

DH is Polish. His youngest brother is actually dating a girl that just came over from Poland about 10 years ago. She still does the traditional dishes and the family loves it! Most of them I've really enjoyed, and I make it a point to try everything once. When we went up for Christmas, she made steak tartar...That is the one and only time I will be eating that! LOL
