I just bought a Vita-mix!! Did you see the demonstration for the soup?? My blender won't do ice cubes now. Agh! It's only 6 months old for G sakes. Between the blender and the dumb magic bullet it took me 15 min to make my smoothie this morning.

Gee it's $500 at Bed Bath and Beyond...eeeek! I will go buy the juicer with my next pay check. It's $349 at Costco so that is a big savings. I really need this blender. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I think I have made my mind up. :)

Yep. Definitely worth it to buy the more powerful juicer.
Hmmm... I don't own this gadget yet. Hmmm... here I go a shopping! emoticon

About a year ago, DH and I bought a Breville juicer. I don't think I knew they made a blender! We really like it, but as others have mentioned in this thread, clean up is a little messy - and you don't get the fiber of the whole fruit! I guess that is one reason we really wanted a high power blender. As soon as you get one and start using it, you will be so glad you did! I hope you don't have to wait too long! Have you checked e-bay, amazon, etc.? Maybe you can find a sale during the holidays? One way we could afford our juicer was getting it at Bed, Bath and Beyond, using one of their 20% off coupons. If you can find what you want "in stock", that could make it really affordable! (BB&B carries the blender we wanted, but it wasn't "in stock". The cost for them to order it was about as much as the 20% savings. So we found ours at a different local place that keeps them in stock.)

I'm just saying... Kelley

Why not get it, you would buy a kitchen aid mixer and pay that much. I did some research bought a breville. It does what I want it to do, if I could have afforded the vita-mix I might have gotten it.

DH and I invested in a Blend-Tec a month or so ago. We got a model that has a 1000 Watt blender on one side and a mixer on the other. We have used the mixer more for making bread, but have intended to use the blender, too. BIL has the lone Blend-tec blender, which is 3000 watts, and he puts concord grapes in his, seeds and all to make grape juice - the seed have lots of vitamins. I'm pretty sure DH has had a VitaMix before and likes the Blend-Tec better.

I own a Vita-Mix and I use it daily! The hubby thought I was mad for wanting to spend so much on what he called "just a blender" but now his only complaint is how come he doesn't get more of the smoothies I make! My whole family looks forward to our daily green smoothies. I've also used it for soup and ice cream. Yummy!

My mom has a Jack Lalanne juicer and it's great but upon visiting her this past week I found it in the top of her guest room closet. She said it's just too much of a hassle with clean up. That's not to say that you wouldn't want one just that there is the pulp factor to deal with. With a blender you get the fiber from the fruit and veggies instead of just the juice. Very filling!

I noticed in Costco a couple of weeks ago that they carry the Blendtec which I also considered. Maybe another option for you to consider. It's a blender just like the Vita-Mix but it has more HP and it's slightly cheaper.

Ive had my vitamix for a few years now and there is definately a big difference between the vitamix and any old blender. If you use a blender alot you will love the vitamix, for what I spent in blenders that burnt out over the years I could have had three vitamixes. The machine is so powerful it could grind rocks. Love my vitamix and its definately well worth the investment. There is nothing you can't make in it, soups, juices, smoothies, ice cream, its really a great gadget.

A good juicer sounds great! I looked at Jack Lalanne's, but my dad who beat his terminal cancer by juicing, said to get a really good one. He says there IS a difference. GET IT!

Vita-Mix is a blender that can blend anything into a juice - awesome. It costs $349 at my Costco and I've been reading about how great it is over at the Cathe forums and I've watched the demos at the Costco...really tempted to buy it. Anyone here have it?? Recommend it?? It's a bit pricey for me at the moment, but...
