I'm oiling ma chainsaw rhaht now!

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Well, okay. I did 11 more this morning; can't seem to get past that number. I'll keep trying. It goes that way sometimes doesn't it. Then one day it just slips up to the next number as long as you keep at it.

My rake is hung up for the moment Blackandi so you can just mellow out.

I seem to be having knee probs and that's why even thinking about doing some aerobic exercise makes me cringe. But pushups? can do.

I love KCM to death. I love her circuits and strength workouts A LOT. I'm still working with her on her cardio step workouts...I'm so used to Cathe that I find it hard to do step with another instructor.

Glad you like your new workouts. I love how fast Kelly moves.

Can you say hydroxymethylfurfural? Let's see, uh...high-droxy-meth-ul-fur-fur-ul. Ok, we've pronounced it now what the fr...kin blazes is it?? and who cares?

Good morning all you bee lovers out there in sleepy land. Wake up, drink some coffee, shake your booty and lets's go!!

Just got this in my inbox:
www.prohealth.com/library/showarticl
e.
cfm?libid=14931

Now, tell me, all you "clean food" faddies, how could a friendly little thing like HFCS (which is being reported...cough, cough, sneeze [excuse me] as perfectly safe) be accused of hurting bees. My gosh, you'd think all the yuppies and tree-huggers paid the American Chemical Society to dis on it like this.

Oh, me too Laura. Always feel terrific and no stress after a day of physical work outside. No matter if the job got complete or not I just felt the stress melt away when I've come in after a day like that. Yes, hungry, tired, and sleep? Like a baby!!

I moved some bricks today--not much work there but it was a little job that needed to be done. Getting ready to cover the veggie garden plot with a thick layer of fallen maple leaves. After that, weed barrier cover and let it rest all winter that way. In the spring when I remove the covers there will be nice, composted leaf mulch to work into the soil (gently). Can't wait for winter to be passed and it's not even quite here yet. LOL so impatient!

Real work is good work!

I think I would really enjoy that. Sometimes, as I sit behind a computer, or on the phone, I remember some really great times when my hubbie and I cut firewood all day long for a living (about 7 years ago now).
When you came int he front door from working hard all day, you felt really satisfied and hungry! But, it really felt like something was accomplished. I don't know if I get that same feeling even when I finish a job for a client... I have always GROOVED on yard/garden work. I've been known to start "building" things when left to my own devices... not that I was any GOOD at it, but I tried and I enjoyed it!

Earth got rid of dinosaurs so anything is possible.

Hey, I worked a farm for a day for charity and ummmm it almost killed me! I can't imagine doing farm work and all work everyday for the rest of my life. My generation is not strong enough. Ha!

Hubby always said that if we ever came into some money that he'd buy us a house on a farm where we could work our land and raise our animals. As he was talking about it, I was cringing inside. LOL!

I'm not very religious either but I do believe in God and I think the Bible holds some very interesting stuff.
Remember how in the story of the garden of eden where after "the fall" God scooted A&E out of the garden and told them they would have to work the ground by the sweat of their tooshies (or something like that) and that there would be thorns and weeds and buggy things making it hard on them? Well, my theory is that everyone since them has been trying to prove god wrong by inventing all kinds of crap to make our work easier. Even outside the garden of eden God was providing everything we needed as long as we kept working. Some years were better than others but still, God provided. He still does doesn't He. All we have to do is look around (enter the bees). Aah, but we aren't satisfied. We are so d...d sure that we can "fix" this hard work problem and maybe even make a profit doing it--whoa! There's a place in the Old Testament (can't remember where right now) where it gives a rule about not cross breeding plants in order to make "better" ones. Have we broken any rules?! Ya think!!

Well, He never promised us another utopia. I trust there's a Plan and all we can do is the best of what is put in front of our noses and trust Him for the rest. It is sad though isn't it, to see this beautiful world get run down. Sometimes I feel that all my efforts to help fight against it is like being in a little boat full of holes with a soup spoon for baling out the in-rushing water!
Time to pray I guess...while we cook up some good, clean eats!!

How ironic. My 14 year old just told me that the World is going into a realm of oblivion in 2012. I told her they said that back in 2000. All one can do is pray and be happy to wake up in the morning and live another day. We'll never really know when tomorrow will be our last.

If we go back to the days of being self reliant then I think we can grow our own food and raise our own livestock and build our own houses and not have to travel much...but that's just too hard. Today, it's all about convenience and people will pay to be happy, lazy people. That's just the reality of it. Doesn't mean it's right, but it's just the way it is. *shrugs*

And 'dem battery operated aka hybrid cars cost A LOT. I don't think I'll be able to afford one anytime soon. :(

There's a lot going on... I heard a guy on the radio; he made perfect sense, and he predicted that the oil/gas will soon be GONE! (around 2012, oddly enough!) That should be no surprise... I think that is commom knowledge. But, he went on to say that when nothing is travelling; cars, boats, trains, planes, FREIGHT, then we have a much BIGGER problem than just having to walk to work. All of a sudden there is no fresh produce at the grocery store, there is no way to MOVE anything, at least LONG distances. Hospitals needing supplies, etc, etc, the list goes on and on.
He also predicted that the world will be able to overcome by use of other means (battery operated vehicles, perhaps) but this could take another 10-15 years.
I don't believe that the world is going to BLOW up, but If you believe in the Nostrodamus predictions (I'm not sure I do, but maybe...???) then what he says rings true. I think that this is also backed up by scientific evidence as well as predictions in the Bible. Approx 2012 seems to be the end of an ERA!

I was raised in a religious family (although I believe in God, I don't think I would call myself religious) and I know my parents always believed that Armegeddon would not be the world coming to an ABRUPT end, but a SLOW decline in the environment and the cirle of life. They believe that it has already begun... hmmm. Something to think about.

I have heard it could be due to pollution. With polluted air, the smell of the flower does not travel as far as it used to and the bees do not smell it. Also, flowers are being genetically modified to look good but they do not smell, think roses. No smell, no bees.

Yet another result of GMOs

Eat the food that God gave us, not the "food" that humans created in laboratories

This isn't really new news. I'm just saddened that these facts aren't headlines when they are first known. We have really had a decline in honey bees here in Oregon for several years; there seems to be a lot of discussion over the "causes". I agree with those who say that it's caused by human interference with nature by the use of toxic chemicals...DUH!!

This summer, here on our property we saw a good number of them coming back. They were swarming on my oregano bushes (which I have too many of ha ha (they spread easily!)

A couple of years ago we put up Mason Bee boxes with larvae we got from a local birding store. They really took off those little pollinators!! I feel good about doing that. Our plum trees produced more fruit than ever and so did 2 of our apples trees!

I hope the "experts" find out quick what's wrong with the honey bees or we is in a heap of trouble. Not only honey bees but a lot of other helpful insects as well.

-Dr. Andrew Saul

Oh, ANDI! They pollenate plants, and flowers. If you don't have bees, there would be no flowers or fruit!

I heard about the decline in bees during the summer. Really makes you think. What would happen if the numbers really went down?
