My mom used to EXTEND real butter (unsalted, of course.) She would whip it up with olive oil and skim milk powder. She would get three times the amount of "butter" and she figured it was healthier than margarine... I guess it must be.
Reminds me of something that was in a cookbook I had many years ago called "Better Than Butter". Maybe I still have that cookbook somewhere.
Hmmm this place is such a dump of stuff gathered for too many years. I'll see if I can find it...no, I'll look online first; quicker!
I do like drizzling olive oil on my toast. It's really good. I suppose if you just put the oil in a container that has a wide opening and then keep it in the refrigerator you would have a spread!!

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

You are the second person to ask me that. Tosca has it in her book. She calls it olive oil spread. I guess they don't have BECEL in the USA. It is a non-hydrogented spread (like margarine) Becel uses olive oil and adds omega 3's. If I am forced to use margarine, I use that stuff.

When I saw the BEAN recipes, I thought of you, ANI!
Wow! thanks for the great recipe links. I love beans, already have a zillion recipes but heck, you can never have enough recipe ideas can you!!LOL!
I noticed that the Wheat Berry Black Bean Chili is missing the instructions for cooking the wheat berries. That's okay for me 'cuz I already know how but there might be some people that don't.

I have made the black bean brownies and they are fantastic!! Just dont eat too many of them at one time because... well they are beans and just because they are in brownie form doesn't take away from their ability to make "music"

I've been tempted to make the brownies with beans. Are they any good? Somehow I can't imagine beans in a brownie.
In the Sept/Oct issue of Clean Eating mag, in the tear out recipe cards, is a recipe for Sweet Potatoe & Cinnamon Brownies--made with sweet potato. Has anyone made these? I don't like sweet potatoes so I'm wondering if there is a sweet potatoe flavor?

If you really love beans this last site is Bean Bible... www.beanbible.com/
There are also at least two SWEET TREAT recipes in the TEAM cookbook that use bean puree instead of all or part of the fat/margarine. Bean Cookies and Brainy Brownies...
