Duck egg, sauerkraut & whole grain and seed toast.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Seems to me that there are members of this team who aren't actually eating very well. For your health's sake eat REAL food. That is what our bodies crave for optimum health. A healthy body is a perfectly shaped body.

Bran flakes aren't real food. Bran, separated from the wheat, can irritate your colon. If fiber is something you think you need more of then eat lots of fresh veggies and some fruit.

If I have offended you then I am sorry for that. That is, I am sorry that you are offended. I am on this team to learn about, and assist others in, the eating of foods that are actually good for us; foods that can actually help us to lose unwanted pounds, keep it off, and be energetically healthy.

I hope you joined this team for the same reasons.

Did you know that you actually NEED healthy fats in your diet to lose excess stored body fat?

Well Cosmic, you certainly trumped me this morning. I ate cheesecake. Okay, it's my own homemade but still, not the best breakfast with all the sugar that's in it. Naughty, naughty me.

Later I had an over-easy duck egg on top of some quinoa.

Every morning starts out with a cup of warm water and lemon.
For the next month I will be having a shake for breakfast....now before anyone says "only a shake for breakfast" let me tell you what is in it...spinach, Kale, banana, goji berries, pineapple, flax seed, chia seed, and egg white....it is very filling and keeps me going til my morning snack.

Keep Smiling with Dy :)

I have fresh (from my back yard) eggs nearly every morning.
This morning I had duck egg, avocado slices and asparagus followed by freshly juiced veggie juice.

Duck egg cheese omelette and asparagus

Advice for Maggie: A lot of recent evidence shows that all that water isn't always so good for us and that we ought to drink when thirsty. But everyone must decide for themselves. If you sweat a lot then you need to replace the water lost. I have some doubts about the popular advice to just get 8 or 10 (or whatever) glasses of water down every day no matter what. I think the reason some people lose weight by drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day is because they have switched over from soda and juices (even diet soda) to water. That right there will make the pounds drop off.

Water by itself doesn't leave us feeling very full for long as it leaves the stomach pretty fast.

I have read several places that drinking water with a meal can interfere with digestion because it dilutes bile and acids needed to break down the food.

I am not convinced that we ought to be motivated to drink a glass of water just because we want to lose weight. Thirst is the best and most natural motivator...I think.

Here's some interesting articles:

HI, I'm Maggie from Canada and I'm new to this group. Healthy eating has always been important to me but I haven't always focused as much as I should.
I really enjoy my subscription to Everyday Health as it offers so much good advice; most recently I've been reading on the importance of a well rounded breakfast (not really news to me but new to me at this time in my life).
So today for breakfast I ate:
1 hardboiled egg
1 sl whole grain toast with a smearing of PB
1/2 banana and 2 strawberries in a 1/4 cup serving of greek yogurt
1/2 gl 1% milk
1 cubic inch (ish) of cheddar cheese (I likely should have passed on this)

I've been pushing alot of water; upwards of 10glasses a day; I start each day with 2 glasses, before breakfast (I'm told it helps to really kickstart my metabolism).

advice is always appreciated,
message me anytime,
maggie.

Say something funny, I love to laugh~

smoothie with frozen mango, scoop of protein powder, a half of cup non-fat greek yogurt, a handful of fresh blueberries and a hand full of baby spinach, water and some ice cubes.

This was the first time putting veggie's in my morning smoothies. Actually it made it taste even better although the color was different. Maybe I will try Kale next time.

-Two slices of Ezekiel bread w/coconut oil, one sautéed egg.
-Green smoothie: low-fat plain yogurt, plain almond milk, spinach, frozen strawberries, 1/4 avocado, 1/2 grapefruit, tsp maple syrup. I'd probably leave out the grapefruit next time…made it a little bitter, even though the flesh was sweet.

Oops, forgot to report my own breaky:
A huge, over-easy, triple yolker duck egg (yes, you heard that right, triple!) and some beef and veggie hash made from a friend's own, pastured meat cows. So yummy

PS: I weighed the egg after I brought it home from a local poultry guy and it weighed 4.2 ounces!!

That Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal (in a packet) will only get in the way of a desire to be healthy and lose weight. If you just really like to have oatmeal for breakfast chose plain oatmeal (rolled oats). If time is a problem you can mix the oatmeal and water together before bed and in the morning you will have oatmeal that only needs to be heated up. If, before you go to bed, you put the rolled oats in a thermal bottle and add boiling water to it you will have warm oatmeal in the morning all ready to eat. To sweeten it use a stevia product or some from of natural sugar like raw honey or raw cane sugar crystals. But be very sparing with the sugar as that's the stuff that causes weight gain. Try to eliminate refined grains from your diet.

A better breakfast, for energy and health (weight loss if you need it) is a high protein one. Like eggs and/or bacon with a veggie on the side like asparagus. Try not to be afraid of bacon or any other saturated fat. Be afraid of trans fats like in margarine and Crisco or deep fried things (unless you know your fats).

Or, you could go the smoothie route that a lot of people seem to like. Smoothies never satisfy me so I rarely do them. I get my liquid veggies by juicing. Maybe someone on this team can suggest a healthy and quick smoothie for you. Try to stay away from the ingredient found in most protein powders called "isolated...protein". Not good. Get your protein in its whole form.

Hope this helps

I don't know how to change up my breakfast! I'm just eating instant oatmeal from a packet (maple and brown sugar) and adding raspberries/blueberries, plus a black coffee. I need breakfast help!

I haven't officially started (scared/lazy) so all I have had is a White Mocha from Peet's and an apple pastry. Wow, saying it out loud (or typing) really makes a difference. I feel crappy admitting it. I guess that's the point, to realize what one does. I better step it up for lunch!

Today:
Not had breakfast yet but I'm planning on having a duck egg with some avocado. Don't know what else; perhaps some more of that mango.

My diet has taken a turn that I hope is just temporary. I think I caught an intestinal bug...or something. No cramps, no gas, in fact not a single symptom other than the irritating rush to the can. This has never happened to me before, So I am following a diet that supposedly will "cure" me. It includes white rice which I don't have very often. I have been doing this new diet for about a week. Things got better for a couple of days so I waffled a bit on the diet and the thing came "rushing" back. Okay, I'll be good now.

Upshot, for breakfast: Rice, roasted veggies, duck egg followed by green tea. Not exactly what the diet requires, but close. A capsule of Oregon Grape Root was included

Two chicken eggs (from neighbor's free ranging chickens) over easy in butter, 1/3 of an avocado, fresh pressed veggie juice and coffee.
Happily losing weight on my healthy meal regimen.

-Dr. Andrew Saul

An apricot, 4 cherries and some fresh pressed veggie juice. Ate cr.p last night--need a little cleansing today. LOL!
