A really refreshing summer drink that I've used as a starter for Dinner - Mix a carton of Tomato Juice with finely diced Cucumber and Spring Onion (salad onion or scallion) and maybe some Parsley or other herb. Chill for a couple of hours or more, to let the flavours infuse. Nowadays, I'd also include some garlic somehow!
There are some lovely sounding smoothie recipes that show up here on SP, and on other sites. But as soon as I see ingredients like flax seed, and sometimes even more esoteric vegan ingredients, I have to stop reading. I have nowhere locally that sells these ingredients, and I'm not willing to travel to find them, I'm afraid.
Otherwise, I do try out some of the recipes, just omitting what I can't buy. My default ingredients are Greek-style yogurt and lime juice!
Oh - and I keep my banana for eating as a banana, rather than tainting (my feelings) an otherwise enjoyable smoothie.
But I haven't tried tofu, yet - so that will be my next challenge: find it and try it.
