I also love to work outside in the yard, just got 4 yards of mulch that the husband and I got and had to shovel in the garden beds, whew, that was a hot day too, lol. Also do extra trips to the laundry room in the cellar so I have to go up and down the stairs more often, take extra steps to hang one piece of clothing in the walk in closet room that we made, every little bit counts (right!!!!_, lol, have a great weekend all!!!

I am getting ready to move into a 1955 year house. I am rinsing down the walls and watering the huge yard. I also have raked the old dead grass in the backyard. Every bit counts:) emoticon

Great ideas here!!
I walk up and down every stair case I can find during my work week.
On the weekend, i volunteer to do the laundry: up and downstairs for the washer dey/ up and downstairs to put the clothes away!
I didn't think to wear my IPOD. Thanks for the idea!!

Yesterday I wrote very little for my exercise, but my legs were very sore, because I was at my kids' Fun Day at school and walked or stood the whole time. Up and down a hill and we ran a couple of times to the next activity.

I also ended up in charge of 2 classes of 1st graders for about an hour. Not exactly sure how that happened.

My pedometer broke, so I have no idea how many steps I took, but by the feel of my legs, it was a lot.

Definitely yard work and doing laundry.

But I get an enormous amount of steps on my pedometer from parking in the back of the parking lot, grocery shopping and then carrying in and putting away the groceries!

Some great ideas here, thanks. I have put new verve in my cleaning chores at home. I usually putter, but have decided I will speed it up and clean faster and harder!!

LOL I thought I was the only wierdo that brings in the shopping carts and not getting paid for it...and my other favorite non-exercise activites is walking to the shopping strip mall (2 miles) and browsing the stores. I put in over 10,000 steps when I do that , and sometimes I even buy things to carry home lol.

I clean house a LOT right now...my house is for sale and when a realtor wants to show it, I have to make it look like my kids don't live here! ;)

I also bring shopping carts into stores if I have a few extra minutes. I can't stand when shopping carts get left out in the parking lot, and hauling some carts in burns a few extra calories and also prevents people's cars from getting damaged by a runaway cart.

I love working outside as well. My husband asks me why I don't have the kids mow the lawn. I just like to do it sometimes. My husband works late so by the time he gets home it's getting dark or the grass is getting damp. On weekends he's taking our one son to wrestling tournament which is why he doesn't usually mow the lawn. Sometimes he'll say I should have left it for him but I like getting out of the house. I home school the kids so I take it as a break from them! I'm also the one who put in our 300 ft post-and-rail fence! My husband helped with one side of the yard and the kids helped sporadically but it was about 75% me! That's just the kind of stuff I like to do. I also hang my clothes outside! Old fashioned but kind of newly eco-friendly! It saves me big time on my electric bill for the dryer!

Rearranging furniture!! It gives a great new look to my house, and is an incredible workout with all that lifting.

I also enjoy working in the yard and garden for some nice non-exercise activity, and my friends and I go geocaching on bikes. Both activities can last for hours before we even notice we're tired.

This is my one shot at life. I will not give up on myself.

I love working outside and building things. This weekend my dh and I built a retaining wall in the front of our house. That felt GREAT!

I know everyone enjoys non-exercise as well.

My other activites are window shopping at the mall, my normal walk is 2mph so I'm usually walking pretty quickly through the mall till I see a shoe store...then I stop and gaze and keep going. I don't count it as exercise but it gets me off my feet.

My other activity that I do count as exercising every so often if I add a little something to it is house cleaning. When I clean house, I turn the air up so it's warmer and usually open a window. Then I get my ipod and put it in the ipod radio and turn the music up. Anything upbeat I dance to as I go around my apartment and pick things up or do laundry. It's my feel-good activity/exercise.

What is your feel-good non-exercise activity?
