Do you take time off work when you have company? Stop showering? Don't make your bed? Anyone close enough to be invited into your home should understand that some things you just need to do. It seems you have appointed yourself entertainer 24/7, ask yourself for permission to take care of yourself.

Does your company need to be entertained every minute of the day? If they don't want to come to the gym with you, maybe there's a TV show they enjoy or they'd like some time to read and you can go at that time. Visitors are nice but don't kill yourself trying to be the perfect host! Make sure you take some time for yourself. If they don't want to be without you for even an hour then you may have to get up early and go before they wake up. Remember to take a little time for yourself.

Maybe your company will keep you from the gym, but there are other ways to work out. Will you be sight seeing at all? Maybe you can park a distance away from attractions and walk. Or just try to incorporate more walking in your regular activities like grocery shopping and the household chores that still have to get done. It's hard to fit in but you can do it!

Hi Erinkimberly, like everyone else said don't be so hard on yourself, you'll be fine. You can actually have Sparkpeople set up a little fitness strength training for you under fitness on your page, they don't take long, and you can work them into your house cleaning, good luck and have fun!!!

Discouraged is a feeling. The antidote is ACTION. get support, enlist friends sparkers and walking buddies you started it by making a new discussion now all it takes is to keep that ball rolling not the one you were discouraged about cheer up we can only do this an hour at a time think about what you can DO this hour don't let yourself sink into negativity!

you can try to squeeze in some lifting with food cans or squats while doing dishes.

dont be hard on yourself. remember that cleaning burns calories. also the videos are very short so just doing one will help. walk on the parking lot, climb a flight of stairs. you will be surprised how much that adds up. we seem to think we must be perfect and exercise for an hour each day. remember that we are striving for improvement not perfection. you have to schedule time for yourself as you are as important as others. this is a hard lesson to learn. i found out when my husband was sick that i could not give to him if i was too depleated . even tho i felt guilty sometimes, i scheduled time out one evening per week with the girls to eat supper after work, went to church, and took lots of bubble baths. sometimes i had to get friends to come in and be with him towards the end when he could not be alone but it was NECESSARY. keep up the great work and trust in yourself to work thro this.

I have had two great workouts this week and I miss them. But this week has been crazy at school and will be until school is out next week. I plan to ride my bike for over three hours on Saturday. I know that our lives get in the way and our plans can not be as predictable as we like. Just don't give up and lose focus totally. It will calm down and get better.

When I don't have time and I have cleaning and stuff like that I turn up my IPOD and dance around the house while cleaning and when I have to take laundry etc to the basement or bring is up I run up and down the stairs. Also, what about just a short 10 min power walk around the block first thing in the a.m. or before bed. I'm sure your company would understand that your trying to get into shape. Maybe they will even want to take a walk with you.
GOOD LUCK!!!! Don't get down on yourself!!!!

You don't need to go to the gym or the Y to exercise. Lotsa exercising you can do at home. Check the SP exercises and incorporate some of them into your cleaning. Good luck and enjoy your company.

Maybe you could sneak out early each day for the gym when your company is there. That's what I just did when my sister was here for a week.
I felt SOOOOOO much better because I still got to go and then I kept eating better because I felt so good!
Best of luck!

With company at your home you can include them by asking them to go for a walk, go to the gym (guest). You can think of ways to get them involved with your routine, don't give up your workouts even if you have to get up a little earlier in the mornings

I have learned to make myself go, even if I go at midnight. Find a gym with flexible hours and just go!

I think your biggest problem is neglecting to put yourself and your needs as a priority. women always have that problem. Sneak a few minutes here and there to get some exercise in. Like most people have already said, housework and chores CAN be exertive if you do them the right way - get the most out of it if you can. Also, if you're having guests for the week, encourage them to an afternoon or after dinner stroll that way you can enjoy the weather, have a nice chat AND get in some enjoyable exercise time. Good Luck!

I can totally relate! I would also suggest turning up the music and dancing around as you do your housework. Or take out five minutes to do an exercise in between your household chores. I had to resort to that today to get my workout in.
Just keep hanging in there! Every little bit that you do helps.

Think positive...sometimes if I do not have time I will jog in place at home...(in the bathroom or bedroom) for 5-10 minutes. It works and gets me going!

If you can't go to the gym, SP has plenty of short videos you can use. Or go for a fast walk.

If you have a fair amount of time to clean, incorporate a workout into your cleaning routine! Turn on some really pumped-up music, and then put all your energy into. Dance around, do squats while dusting, rear leg lifts while doing dishes. Lunge while vacuuming. I set a timer in each room and try to finish it in less than 5 minutes (never make it, but I sure am winded when I'm done). Also, be inefficient. If you take something up or down stairs or into other rooms, DON'T collect items until you have an armload...just take them one at a time.
And if you don't have time, don't sweat it. Go for a walk when you can, climb a big hill, or just schedule some time to go work out as soon as you can fit it in (but hold yourself to it!). You'll be great for summer.
This is my one shot at life. I will not give up on myself.

If you don't have time to go for a full workout, don't forget that 10 min cardio blasts are still a great way to work out. Run up & down the stairs at home, jump rope, jog around the block..and/or do strength training in short increments. SOMETHING is better than nothing so that when you look back at your week, you will still feel productive. If you can't get to the gym today, don't focus on that just move forward & keep moving. :)

Don't be so hard on yourself and summer has not even officially begun yet. Are there any little things you can do around your house to fit in a little exercise here and there. Will you be planning any outings with your company maybe you can plan something active. We'll good luck and don't get discouraged.

I go to the gym Monday and feel great about starting my week right, but then tuesday i dont have time to go, and then wednesday i dont have time to go. and now it's thursday and again, i have no time to go because company is coming so the house has to be clean. and then i wont be able to go to the gym while the company is here for the next week. I just feel hopeless like Im already wasting the summer away with no improvement. I still feel just as disgusting as i did at the beginning of the summer.
