from my understanding
it is cardio and eating light on fat that will pare down the excess fat in the core.
cross training and balance excercises help because they supposedly hit the supporting muscles in the core ,the ones we don't target in our use of machines.
for example long planks (just holding) , holding a squat on a bosu, doing your lunges with your back leg on a bosu

Although you can do ab exercises it is not something that you want to overdo as you can take out the feminine curves by doing too much.

I have noticed with all my cardio and strength work some weeks I didnt lose a pound but when I measured myself I had lost inches. My tummy is finally going flatter. I wanted more off the breasts! I guess we cant please everyone can we? Lol. I did lose in the face first. Keep it up it does pay off.

If you haven't got a smile on your face and laughter in your heart, then you are just a sour old fart!

Interval training (switching exercies every couple minutes with minimal rest is another good cardio technique that burns lots of fat calories.

Do plenty of exercises that strengthen the muscles that support the breasts so they can sit up by themselves now that they are getting smaller.

I'm sorry you're losing your breasts! emoticon I think that's how many women lose - from the top down. People may notice it in your face first and then you notice it in your bra! Unfortunately, it takes a while to get to the tummy and butt where most women want to lose it!

I love my stability ball. Use it as a seat for watching telly or on the computer and your will passively assist that flabby belly. Because you need to balance to stay on the ball you are constantly working your stomach especially the lower part (below the belly button) it's not a miracle but it did help me more than 100 or so crunchies a day plus sit ups and all that stuff. The closer together you have your feet the more you need to work to balance, if you take one foot off the ground that increases it more and if you can balance with both feet off the ground that's fantastic.

Thank you ladies. I think I will start interval training to help increase my fat burning. It sucks because I thinking im losing my breast not my tummy, that can be really annoying!

I CAN do this!

I also read somewhere, on here I think, that the first place to gain extra fat is usually the last place you lose it. I am finding that to be true for me.

There is a section on this website that has frequently asked questions. One of the questions is "can you target train for specific areas of the body". The answer they give is basically no. You need to first burn off the fat in the stomach with cardio exercise. However, doing abdominal exercises along with the cardio will strengthen the muscles as you burn the fat. I would think this would give you a flatter stomach.

I'm sorry that I can't remember exactly where to find the information on the website. They explain it really well. It would probably help you to find it.

Thanks for asking this question!! I am at the beginning of my journey and did read the Spark article that says you don't decide where the fat comes off, so I knew that, but still wanted to get advice on losing my baby pouch! I have been doing tons of cardio and strength training as well, so now it is just a waiting game if I stay on the track I am on. I do suggest you measure your midsection and then wait a month, then measure again. I am set to measure all body parts next Monday. That will be the first time I have measured since day one of starting on Spark emoticon So I am excited to see what the tape measure says!!! Good luck and thanks to everybody who replied :)

Cardio, cardio, cardio. Those pilates ab videos in ADDITION to the increased cardio have REALLY inproved my flabby abs! I started using an eliptical machine again and bumping up the resistance level, which forces you to engage your core. Keep your heart rate around around the 80% range for your age. I also interval train walk/jog. I think, depending on your skin tone, some people will just always sag a little around the middle....I've resigned myself to that idea for my saggy belly - lol!

Fat will burn from any part of your body, but it is not possible to "target" the burn. As your weight drops, this fat will drop.

I agree that is just takes time and effort to lose the fat over these hard-earned muscles!! One of my favorite fat blasting workouts is Billy Blanks Tae Bo. It burns an amazing 800+ calories in an hour and works your whole body. It was a little intimidating when I started, but I absolutely love it! Best of luck and keep at it!.

Unfortunately, it does take time! Watching the Biggest loser one night, Bob stated the only way to get rid of belly fat was eating right, cardio, and toning. So, keep plugging away at it. Change up the tummy exercises too-increase the intensity, etc. I'm at the point where I doubt I will ever have a totally flat tummy, but I can mostly hide it now! lol!

Good luck!

I agree with the others that it just takes time and effort. If you've been doing the same thing for cardio for a while, it is good to change things up a bit every 4-6 weeks. Our bodies get so used to the same exercise and become so efficient at it that we don't burn as many calories. Increase your intensity or go longer. Add some higher intensity intervals. Mix up your cardio by trying something new, even if just one day a week. Good luck!

Do a lot of different cardio. Walking is a good one. Also the elliptical is good. I have a ten min workout DVD that is for burning the fat in the midsection. I bought it from walmart. Blast off Belly fat. Don't remember the trainers name. Good luck.

Any cardio is going to burn off the fat but it'll take a while! You can spot-tone but you can't spot-lose! Unfortunately, your body decides where it takes the weight off first! Keep working at it and good luck!

I have a questoion for you ladies. I really want to target my abs. I have been doing strength exercises and I can feel my muscles getting stronger but how do I burn off the flab? I have been doing my stair stepper for cardio. Is there another way to melt those layers of fat?

I CAN do this!
