I had similar problems in the past, but I will not bore you with the outcome; everyone is different. I am so glad that you are going back to your doctor. Bleeding when you exercise is not heathly; keep trying until you finf out why this is happening.

THANK YOU ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! I am so happy by your thoughts, concern and suggestions. I can't believe you guys even googled information for me. I really do have a sparkfamily!
I booked an apointment with my family doctor today at 2:30pm to tell her to recommend me to a good gynecologist. Let's see what happends.
The reason I am worried is because my older sister is 34. She had 3 miscarriages and no children yet (she does not have the same problem as me). She's been trying for 10 yrs. to have children. I am planning to have kids in the near future and I don't want to go through what she is going through.
I am not in any birth control pill, patch or anything else. I use condoms and my family doctor suggested me to go on brith control pill to stop these bleeding and I refused, because something in my heart told me that birth control pill is not the solution.
Come to think of it, all these bleeding started right after I became sexually active, so I don't know if something I should be concerned about.

Just another thought:
Are you on any birth control pills, patches, injections, etc? Not to down-play the severity of what this COULD be, but I had similar problems when I first started really increasing my cardio. Realized I was metabolizing my BC pills faster and had some break-thru bleeding and cramping (often quite severe at times). Started taking my BC pills before bed WITH FOOD rather than first thing in the AM. Worked like a charm. Still have some spotting at times but nothing like before.
PS) I also used the patch and had similar issues b/c I sweat like a whore in church when I workout and this temporarily interrupted the transdermal absorption and caused my patch to slide around.

Make sure you have your doctor think about an IUD. They solved my bleeding without surgery by giving me an IUD, and I have been having very light, sporadic periods since. I was bleeding so much I was anemic with a 5 on my hemoglobin count, and the normal rate is between 12 and 16.

I was unable to go anywhere without worry. I was also wearing depends to keep from bleeding through. Definitely see about the other options. I never knew of this one until I saw a different doctor.

It will last for 5 years, too. Then they can safely replace it with a new one.

I am some what having the same problem as you. I have to have a biopsy done. My doctor is going to check for Fibroids. I might have to have a slight surgery where they will thin the lining out. My doctor said it might be serious and it might not be, but I definitely think you should see another doctor.

Already hot...Looking to sizzle!

I used to have exactly the same problem; every time I would exercise heavily (when I would bike over 50 miles at a time) I would have cramping and bleeding by the time I got home. I was fine physically from the exercise, but obviously inside something was going on. I talked to my gyno a couple of times about it and he totally blew it off, so I did, too. I just knew it would happen if I exercised that much, which I really enjoyed doing. I'm 50 now and am going through menopause, but I'm here to tell you I got pregnant 3 times (first time at 39!) and had totally normal pregnancies. Although I don't necessarily suggest totally blowing it off like I did, I'm here to tell you that although it was uncomfortable and a bit of a pain, it had no effect on my ability to conceive or affect my pregnancies in any way. Hope that's a little bit encouraging!

I`m really sorry to hear about your pain. It`s really fustrating when you`ve seen so many doctors that can`t do anything for you but except maybe through your prescriptions to take pain away when you know something needs to be done.

I`m in this situation, although it is a different condition than yours. I believe, and and almost 100% certain that I have endometriosis, but I`ve seen my doctor and two gynecologists and they keep giving me other alternatives to not go through the diagnosis; like pain killers, different and stronger birth control pills. It`s sucks the only way you can diagnose endo is through laproscopic surgery but, I`d rather go through the surgery that suffer anymore pain, risk my condition getting worse and possiblly be infertile in the future.
I`m so dissappointed. I went to the gynocologist, she gives me pills that even make my periods GO AWAY, which isn`t goign to help because the pain isn`t when I get my period, and she also told me, after you have kids, you can have a hysterectomy! But she also said, try and have kids when you`re young... Sheeeshh! Talk about pressure... I`m only 20!

I feel you`re pain hun and I reallly hope you see a good gynecologist!

I agree as a nurse that you should contact your doctor.

I do wish that people would not recommend procedures that may not be helpful in your situation.

I would call your gyn, talk to him/her about this or make an appointment.

Be prepared to discuss how much bleeding, fresh or old blood, is there pure blood or a mucous blood discharge, pain or no pain and how long this lasts.

Although this does not seem normal, it may not be pathological considering other problems you have.

Most important , talk to the doctor.

JulianaD,
I'm so sorry to hear that you are suffering with these issues! I just want to encourage you to remember to go into each appointment with the understanding that it's called a medical PRACTICE for a reason. It's easy to blame the doctor's, but it's not there fault that they don't know what is going on. And trust me when I say, you will get A LOT further with them if you keep that in mind. MOST Dr's, not all unfortunately, want to help people; hence the YEARS in medical school.
I will keep you in my prayers for resolution in this! Stay encouraged =)

Years ago, a friend of mine had abnormal bleeding and every time she called her doctor's office, they told her she was fine. I finally insisted that she go to the emergency room and she had lost almost half the blood in her body. She ended up having emergency surgery, but it saved her life. I had to argue with the nurse in the doctor's office because she kept telling my friend not to go to the hospital. I wouldn't wait if I were you, bleeding from workouts doesn't sound right.

I had to have an ablation in my uterus because of thickening there. I had what they also described as a mushy utrus. Ablation is not a hysterectomy but cleans out the uterus so it doesnt have linings anymore and is close to a hysterectomy but not as invasive. Check with your dr on that. It will help you a lot.

Ya know, it really doesn't matter that she went to three doctors for the same thing if all three were obviously TOO STUPID to do anything about the problem. I just about tore a couple hundred people apart about a year ago when I got floored with abdominal pain, went to the ER and was told, "yeah, it's from the fibroid they found 2 years ago when you had your appendix out." WHAT??? Fibroid? Whatchu talkin' about, Doc? Yeah, they found it and failed FOR TWO YEARS to inform me of it. That's 2 years when I could have been more aggressive with my doctors to lift their butts and do something. I'm 46, no kids, don't plan on kids, fix it! But, then it just stopped hurting. But if you are bleeding during and after every workout? Get thee to another doctor and don't forget the Clue-by-four to bat them in the head with until they do something. Don't take their pathetic shoulder shrugs and "I dunno" for an answer.

Bleeding all the time could reduce your iron stores. I would discuss this with your Dr to see if you might need supplements.

I agree with everyone else though in that you should push to see an gynecologist or an OB. If you're hoping to start a family, you'll want to be sure that everything really is alright down there. Dr's can be very dismissive so be pushy. I've had 3 miscarriages and an ectopic and it took me way too long to get help as I thought Drs knew best. I am now having the same problem as you and will be going for testing as soon as my medical kicks in. In my case, I had never had this until my ectopic so I know something has to be wrong. I hope you find a Dr that will really help you.

I agree with everyone here. First, go see a specialist OB/GYN. There are the one's that are just good at annual check-ups and delivering babies and there are those that specialize in women that have issues (I've seen 5 but have had my issues resolved). There's a reason this is happening and the right doctor will take the time to figure it out and treat the problem rather than patching symptoms. Best of luck to you!!

So, sorry to hear of your problem. No, it doesn't sound normal, and I have never heard of this happening to anyone, either. I feel like others on here ,that you need to see a specialist, and don't take no for an answer in getting help. Tell them that you need to know what's going on, and what can be done about it.
Will keep you in my prayers, too.
Have you tried looking on the health section of Spark? I also, know of another health site that you might try to check on this too, the site is www.revolutionhealth.com Hope you find out what the matter is, soon. Bless you

I too ended up with a hysterectomy at 31 because of endometriosis. I went to several docs and had 2nd, 3rd, 4th and even 5th opinions. Finally I ended up at a doc that took the time to listen and find out what was really wrong with me. I had endometriosis. He did several surgeries (4) to try and alleviate the severe pain and bleeding that I was having 3 weeks of every month. Unfortunately the surgeries helped for a few months and then it would start all over again. He also put me into "menopause" with a monthly shot of Luperon. It did help but at that time you could only be on it for 6 months at a time. After that he tried putting me on the pill to take continuously through the month. It didn't work. So, long story short my last option was a complete hysterectomy. On top of the endometriosis I had developed hormonal migraines. I was more than ready to have the hysterectomy done. It was successful.
I know you want to have children so for what it's worth I would continue to go to doctors until you find one that will listen to your symptoms and try to figure out what is going on. Ask around your area for recommendations of a good Ob/Gyn that also specializes in fertility. It is not normal for you to bleed when exercising. You have to do what is best for you and your body even if it means going to every doctor in your area.
Take care of yourself. Wishing you well. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry to here about your problem. I have not went through something like this but I do have a really close cousin that went through some similar thing to this. hers started when she was 14 yrs old and ended her up in the hospital it toke the doctors almost 5 years to figure out what was going on with her when they did she ended up in the hospital agian in very bad shape. they finaly told her she has Endometriosis and crones and the two of them togeather was what came close to ending her. but now she is on medication for both and doing very well and now has a healthy 2 year old daughter. not that this is what is wrong with you but I am just wanting to let you know that it could be more then one thing and I would look up different illnesses and when you go to the doctor bring them all and ask him to test for everyone that could be even close to being the problem. I hope this helps I know it sucks going to the doctor but it is worth it when you find the right one

I agree go and see as many doctors as it takes to get the right answers and your health problems solved. Believe me I know first hand how frustrating it is having to go from doctor to doctor and specialist to specialist until they found out what was wrong with me. By the sounds of it a OB/GYN or fertility specialist.

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you and your doctors find out what is going on with you soon. emoticon

My family has a history of fibroids as well. They also had hysterectomies. I hope this isn't the case for you though. As a lot of the other people have said, no it isn't normal, take it easy until you find out what it is and how to fix it.

That doesn't mean your weight loss has to come to an end. You can still keep track of your calories and do light exercises.

Just take care of yourself. We all want the best for you.

I had fibroids too...some were inside and some were outside the uterus. I didn't bleed when I exercised (at least not in high school or college when I had P.E.), and after that I didn't go to a gym. However, they really screwed up my periods...skipped around, had long, painful ones. Plus, had a few other "fun" things going on in there...the mix was wonderful! LOL Like you said...everyone is different! That's why a fertility specialist would be the person to see. They deal with the OB/GYN thing too and are more specialized in that field.

Oh, and my first surgery was a partial hysterectomy too! Took the right ovary wrapped around a Dermoid cyst, and the left tube that was engulfed with fibroids. Good times...
emoticon

Didn't want to leave on a bad note...I ended up adopting the most amazing boy ever - he turned 21 a week ago!! If all this wouldn't have happened I would never have gotten my son - and THAT is something I can't even imagine!! He's been the joy of our lives! So never give up...just make yourself well.

when i was young i had a problem like that too. it was fibroids, had a parcial hysterectomy and it cured me. nowadays i don't think they do hysteretomys to cure it. you should ask your doctor to check you out to see if you have fibroids. Don't take my word for it everybody is different.

Yes, she's been to 3 docs, but when you don't go to the RIGHT one, it makes a difference! I've had a lot of "female" problems - too many - ended in a hysterectomy at 31. I will say that you need a SPECIALIST....one that deals in fertility, etc. I went to a regular ob/gyn when I first had problems, and had I seen a fertility specialist, my first surgery wouldn't have gone better.

A D&C will probably take care of it...I had 3 of them and it helped regulate my periods and get rid of cramping/clots (one of my problems was endometriosis). However, I don't think it's normal to be bleeding while exercising - besides being annoying! Find a fertility specialist - I know it sounds odd, but it's ultimately linked to how you reproduce, and since you want to have kids in the future, it is important to find out what's going on and take care of it now. It may be a simple fix...but it needs to be done.

Good luck to you!

I am sorry to hear you have this problem too. I am 37 years old and have been going through very similar problems over the past 8 years and 7 doctors later, 6 D&C's, and an Endometrial Ablation they have decided that a full hysterectomy is MY only option. NOT that YOU will have to go through that, I just strongly suggest that you find a doctor that will REALLY listen to you and not guess. This is your body and with you still planning a family you need someone that can give you a real answer. Good Luck! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I do hope you find an answer to this mystery! I agree to find another doctor - perhaps something else will come up that is different from last year or was just missed. Were there any recommendations from the other doctors as to what to do about it?

Also, if the bleeding is only happening when you workout, I would definitely lighten up on it until you know more. Although we all want to exercise in order to be healthy if, as they case MAY be with you, it is somehow hurting your body, exercising may not be a good idea right now. At least not the core workouts, cardio and running.

Take care...

I go to the doctor tomorrow for somewhat of a similar problem. Maybe I'll come away with some insight:)

Sorry to hear about your problem. The problem you are having doesn't seem normal. I most definitely would consult with a OB/GYN. The three Docs you went to the first time may have missed something. Until you find out what is going on you should try to do light exercises. I wish you the best of luck.

I agree with most people here. Keep going to a doctor until you find one that does more to help you. Maybe a fertility specialist, maybe they will have different insite than an OB/GYN. Be insitent tell them "LOOK, I WILL NOT ACCEPT MAYBE IT'S THIS OR THAT. DO TEST SEND ME TO SOMEONE ELSE YOU THINK CAN HELP ME. IT'S MY LIFE AND I HIRE YOU TO HELP ME NOW DO SOMETHING. PERIOD!!!!!

Good luck hun.

I think we should be a little kinder to our sparkfamily members.

Possibly three doctors aren't enough when bleeding is still happening. Is there a specialist you can see, like an ob/gyn... possibly another one, if yo've already seen one. I think that you might be feeling this too, which is why you posted. You have to be an advocate for yourself, even if it makes you uncomfortable pushing for someone to find out why you continue to bleed.

I don't have any children, but my husband and I are planning on it in the near future. I am just wondering if it is dangerous to bleed like this everyday during and after a workout.

I hate to say it because you've already been to see 3 doctors, but i would try for a fourth opinion. A gynecologist for sure, and maybe do some online research before you go. explain to this new doctor your concerns and that you've been to see 3 other doctors about it already. for sure explain that this is interrupting your daily routine and causing you pain.

My mother is an experienced RN (registered nurse) and she says it could be several things, from cysts to a hormonal imbalance - and there are a lot of variables that can effect this kind of thing. Unfortunately the only way to figure out what it is, is to go to a doctor. :/

I understand how frustrating this can be, but just be persistent and get someone to help you!

best of luck!

I read fully that you went to 3 doctors last year ... and I'm telling you to go to a different one. One that will do something. I just had a d & c for the same thing. If you had a plumber that didn't fix the problem the first, second and third time you got him in you would need a new plumber ... you need a new doctor. Good luck.

Although she' seen THREE doctors, the problem still exists and another visit is due. Search the web... And try to find specialists that has seen AND resolved the same type of issue. Best of luck. emoticon

You need to go to a Gynecologist and have an Endometrial Ablation done. This will greatly reduce your problems. Only one thing, you cannot have any more children after having this procedure done.

Yes, you should definitely see a gynecologist however, I have an older sister whose having some similar issues with a thickening utereus and they will be doing a D & C soon which they believe may help. She is post menopausal (or so she thought at 56). But a doctor appointment is in order it seems.

I don't know why I bleed everytime I workout. It's mostly when I do core workout, cardio and running. I don't know if it is something serious. I went to three different doctors last year and all of them say the same thing, that I have a thick wall in my uterus. When I go for running, my ovaries hurt. I am just wondering if anyone is going throught the same thing or if anyone have any idea what's going on....or if it is even normal.
