I'm getting my workouts in and I'm feeling so much better. Good luck everybody and thanks for the support. This weekend I tried a pair of jeans on me that have been tight on me and they felt just right on me and my husband told me my butt looked good in them. That really made me what to keep up the workouts and eating right.

I was exercising after they went to bed and I did feel good about myself, I was tired but I did it and I felt a since of accomplishment. This week has not been so good and it is me, I made lazy choices this week. So girls and guys I'm going to jump back in the game tonight after my babies go to bed and I'm going to exercise.

I know it can be very hard to get time to exercise when you have young kids. I have three kids ages 8, 5, and 3. I work full time and starting in June I will start school part time for the summer. What works for me is late night exercise when the kids are in bed. i do feel tired and don't want to do it but I try to push myself to work out. When my 3 yr old son is up he gets in the way of me working out. I try to let him get involved with the work out but I have such small space.

A healthy body equals a healthy mind.

I had a similar experience with my first child
it is tough making time for yourself when they are so young
by the time you have time -- you are ker-plotzed!

I know that it is difficult to muster the strength when you are tired but I find that the more I did it the better I felt about doing it.

Taking time for myself was very rewarding and ultimately as necessary as breathing for me.
No one else can take care of you!

I feel so stupid, my scale is not broke, my two year old daughter adjusted the scale. I didn't even know you could adjust scales. That shows how smart I am.

I'm having a hard time getting free time for work outs my two year old never sleeps and nap time is always an issue. My husband gets home late and finally 10:00 I'm able to get some work outs and there is something wrong with the volume on the computer so I can't hear what is being said and for me that is an issue and my husband can't fit it because he has work tomorrow. and my scale is broke I got on it today and it said I weight over 220 and I was like wow I must have really had a bad weekend because I was 185 last Thursday and when I stepped off the whole thing is off balance. So I guess I can say I broke the scale too much eating over the weekend.

Everybody has bad days. The important thing is that you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again (as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers would say). I hurt my ankle on Thursday (it was so stupid... got mad and kicked our door. ouch!), and ended up taking four days off (thurs-sun) but I'm not giving up!

Yeah I had a few bad days last weekend and I refuse to beat myself up for it. I'm working on making life style changes. Moderation I believe is the key for me. So I enjoyed the bar-b-que with my family and the ice cream sundae that followed for my sons birthday.

Yep I feel into this over the weekend as well. Pizza on Friday, big meal on Saturday and an ice cream cone too and toped it off with chocolate doghnuts on Sunday. Well it's Monday and the scale is telling me how much fun I had over the weekend, so now it's back on track to my weight loss/ new life style eating and the gym.

It was only two days... not a big deal. Just get back on the horse and keep riding!

Never give up!

My bad day was about 3 weeks ago and until this morning, hadn't really gotten better, LOL. I haven't exercised worth a crap and my eating has only been ok. Yesterday's eating was terrible. I have been doing a bit here and there, cutting grass, gardening, walking with the kids, playing in the park with the kids.

This morning started a little better on the exercise front. Even though I was unable to get to the YMCA, I did manage to get outside at work and jog 3.2 miles. I already have my protein and fiber where they should be for the day leaving supper for more fruits and veggies. Not too bad a start to a new week.

My bad days this weekend were food and exercise related - both. Spent time visiting my mom and spending today with my children. Didn't leave time to do exercises and way too much resturant food! But tomorrow is another day and I will attempt to do better. Any amount of exercise will be better than I was doing before this challenge - so let's make week 2 the best we can.

Everyone does have bad day once in a while. The real question is what are we do about it? For me, it's learn from it and move on. Don't let it fester - it will pull you down and ruin your goals.

I know all about bad days too. I went to the family supper from hell yesterday. I have a sister that is paranoid schizofrenic and another that is a psychotic bitch there is a reason we haven't all been together for 20 years but it was my Dad's 85 birthday and my Mom wanted us to be there, I will never go again, ever. Today is Mother's Day and I wish a good day for all the mother's out there like me. I have 5 grown children and I am spending the day alone trying to fix my lawn mower and wishing for phone calls. The phone always seem to work when they want something doesn't it?

By planning if you can what your 4 meals are going to be.

In my household - I have a 14 & 10 year olds. The 14 yro says she is not on a diet and she wants to eat. So I make sure there's lettuce, cheese, Ramen, fruit for her. 10 yro likes chicken nuggets, hotdogs, hamburgers. Which the 14 yro will also eat. Then I have a 17 yro and she's vegetarian. So my house is a zoo for mealtimes literally. So I know some of these foods are great for me and some are bad (Ramen)

So if I try to plan what I may feed them into my nutrition tracker on the weekends so I don't feel deprived. I am also adding Fish oil capsules and benefiber - for digestion and other benefits.

So back to the point. The day after a overindulgence - I focus on getting within range of the protein, fat & carbs - with fewer calories. Asparagus - 25 spears gives you 92 cals, 18 carbs, 1 fat & 9 protein - that's a lot of food. 4 cups of spinach leaves is 20 cals, 4 carbs, 2 protein - that's part of a salad. So that's the challenge. If you can pick the foods that give you plenty - then you are full - healthy - and there might not be no room. Even if you eat a hamburger - make sure lettuce, tomato is there - no cheese. I had a big n tasty from mcdonalds - and I calculated that in my tracker.

Then there's always exercise - and I agree with someone saying about sleep. I am still working on getting atleast 8 hours. emoticon

Sometimes sleep is just as important as exercise! If you are severely sleep-deprived, your body will crave extra food to compensate. It can be tough when you have little ones to care for!
The next time you get them into bed and find yourself so over-tired that you know you're well past the point of being able to do anything productive, do yourself a favor and go to bed too. Don't beat yourself up and try to stay awake to do what you think you "would have, should have, could have" done that day. Tomorrow is a new day, and a good night's sleep will help you make it a successful one!!!

Wow!! Bad days...I know those. Bad exercise or eating days are quite often hard to turn around. Sometimes you just have to let them go but try to keep them to moderation. We all need a carefree day. Normal weight people do this too but they don't even think about it. Now my other bad days I have made it my goal not to eat to pacify myself. I was doing great, had lost 64 lbs and was in great physical shape. I left my controlling abusive husband, started college, then my son died all within 3 and a half months. I have gained 49 lbs and stopped most physical activity. I will not let my husband win or make my son a scapegoat for my overeating and bad health practices!

success is not an overnight thing. There are hurdles, road blocks, detours, and life in general, that sometimes makes obtaining our goals more of a challenge. Everything we do starts with our attitude. So, don't look at it as a bad day. You treated yourself and now you're back on course to ensure you successfully obtain your goal. Good luck. You have your team rooting for you! emoticon

How do you turn that negative of a bad day into a positive so that you are motivated by it? I love what you said:
I use my past bad day as incentive to get it going for the day ahead!

I went over my calories yesterday. I spent the day with my mom, had a high calorie lunch AND enjoyed an ice cream cone with her in the afternoon. Then I splurged on pizza for dinner with my family when I came home!

My weekly report shows me within my range for the week, though! And I am determined not to repeat yesterday on a regular basis. :)

I, too, had a Blizzard this week (Midnight Truffle....Mmmmmmm). As long as it's not the start of a bad trend (ie: a Blizzard every night), I don't see the harm in a little splurge every now and then. That's what makes the exercise worth it!!
I had sore muscles from those videos and all the cardio.....the cold ice cream helped the pain - lol!

I guess you would day I had a bad Sparkle day today but I had a wonderful day, we went to Pella Iowa to see the tulips, how beautiful! It was 350 miles so a long ride , and once we got there we were there walking in gardens and a beautiful town for a good 5 hrs, but so worth It. I did stay away from the sweets, and that was hard ,& did eat the grilled chicken, but could even done better, because I did have a strawberry blizzard. But I still had a wonderful day walked my feet and legs off and stood and watch a wonderful 2 hr parade, with children from birth to grandparents in Dutch dress. will do it again next year.

My bad day was Fri. Oh, and I didn't do the video and cardio Sat b/c of no particular sound reason. But I did get in a 25 min walk so I guess that counts? But Mon, Tues, and Wed of this past week I did an extra 30min of cardio. So...I figured I'm not too far off.

I think Lady_Josielot said it best: it's ok to have a bad day. But not a bad week...a bad month...a bad lifestyle. That bad day kept me sane :-)

Thanks for the encouragement and putting my 700 calories in perspective. It is like everyday life - you think you have a problem until you hear about someone else. I just have to keep telling myself how great I have been doing and not dwell on the one step backwards. Thanks again!!

700 calories wouldn't register as a bad day
I have had 4 bad days since I started

Hi everyone! This post couldn't have come at a better time. I went over my calories today by about 700. I wasn't even going to track my food today since I did so bad. But I am glad I did because I came across this posting and my spirits have been lifted. Tomorrow I will do better. Thank you all for supporting everyone. Best of Luck. Even though is is very late I am going to do todays exercises.

There's a great SP article about perfection. It says that the SP expectation is that we take two steps forward and one step backward. We should all expect to have bad days. The key is to accept the bad day, get over it, and move on. Just don't let it destroy your hard work. Good luck

Do not be afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and, he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Everyone has bad day, we're all human. I try to follow the 80%-20% idea. About 80% of my time is spent doing/consuming "healthy" things, and the rest (20%) isn't. I strongly believe in the idea of everything in moderation, including moderation. We're all going to have "bad days" every once and a while, but the difference now is that it's a bad day, not a week, month, and certainly not a lifestyle. It's the exception, not the rule, and that's what counts. *hugs* Besides, tomorrow is a brand new start. :)

I agree! We all have them - And if we can we add more exercise.

Weekends are the worst and May seems to be a stressor for me. My kids are out of school in a few weeks and 1 graduates. So it's field trips, school functions during the week, etc. I got an overnite at the Little Rock Museum of Discovery on Monday with my son's 4th grade class.

Today it was the Rotary's Pancake day with the money raised going to HS Interact Seniors. This is an event I look forward to every year. Someone always gives me free tickets ($3 ea). You get pancakes, Sausage links. there's stawberries and blueberries. YUM. I added it to my meal tracker and what I had for lunch. and I am figuring out dinner right now. I need to get some fiber - emoticon

The best advice I can give you is don't dwell on it. We all make food choices that aren't always the best ones at the time. The great thing is that we can make a better choice the next time. Personally, I have higher calorie days built into my weekly intake so I can "splurge" on something I wouldn't normally eat. It's worked into my plan so I don't consider it cheating, and that way I don't feel like I'm going without. Focus on all the days you made great choices and let that keep you moving in the right direction - you've already done and will continue to do great!

Glad to be of help, I've struggled with my weight for the last 9 years. After you get to a certain age, 50's its really hard to lose weight and really easy to gain. I was up to 166 lbs and got to goal which is 135. I still don't feel good about myself so i'm setting another goal of 115lbs. emoticon

Don't beat yourself up, so you had a bad day, at least you didn't have 3 of those ice cream things plus a bag of cookies. It could have been worse, I guess is what I am trying to say. Don't let it discourage you! Keep focused on your goals and just move on from it. Take care and hang in there!

I got this out of my weight watcher magazine:
Guilt Cheat Sheet Get back on track:
Whether you overate at a party or munched too many cookies before bed, this 1-day menu will help you refocus.
How? You'll boost your water intake and skip carbonated beverages to tame bloating, bulk up on produce at every meal, and eat plenty of whole grains to curb your appetite.
Breakfast:
Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal
Prepare 1/2 C quick cooking rolled oats with 1 c. fat free milkk. stir in 1/2 c. diced apple, a dash of cinnamon, and a packet of artificial sweetener.(5)points.
1 12oz latte made with low-fat (1%) milk (4)points
8 oz water (0) points
Snack:
1 small pear (1)point
Lunch:
Chicken-Veggie Pita Pocket:
Stuff 1 whole wheat pita with 1 grilled chicken breast fillet, 1/4 c. each fresh spinach, roasted red pepper, and cucumber slices, and 1T chopped red onion. Top with 1/2 C. plain fat-free yogurt mixed with 1/2 tsp. each chopped garlic and fresh dillweed (6) points.
10 baby carrots (0) points
8 oz water
Snack:
1 large clementine (1)point
8 oz water (0) points
Dinner:
1 C. fat-free vegetarian chili (3)points
7 fat-free crackers (1) point
Green salad Toss 2 C. mixed greens with 1/2 cup each grape tomatoes and shredded jicama. Dress with 2 tsp olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar (3) points
1 small mango (2) points
8 oz water (0) points
This flex menu has 26 points values. Adjust as needed if your daily points target is more or less than that.
I do this everytime I overeat the day before and you know what I still lose my weight on weigh in day.
Sorry for the long post.

We all have those days and we just pick ourselves up and brush ourselves off and move on. Don't waste the energy beating yourself up - I'm the expert at that one. LOL

You'll recover, we learn from our mistakes and life goes on. As time goes on, you'll fall off less often and it will become easier to stay on track.

Me too. I went above my calories for the first time in I don't know when. As long as I have been here you would think that I would have known better, but I was totally shocked at the end of the day!!! I have been eating at the lower level of calories. Maybe my body thought I was trying to starve it or something. Anyway, I am getting back on track today, too.

We can do this Mandy! I know we can!!!

All you can do is let it go and get back on track. It sounds like that's what you're doing. We have to forgive ourselves for messing up or else we just continue to feel rotten and literally feed it.
Good for you for getting right back in the game.

I did really bad Friday may 8th. I didn't get a change to exercise all day and then after 7p.m I had a Oreo blizzard and instead of exercising after I got my babies to bed I went to bed so I did really bad and I went over my calories to top it off. So today my goal is to get caught up on my exercising and really watch what I eat today.
