At truly the 11th hour ... I found out my answers ... unless matters fall through completely and egregiously tomorrow morning ... and they probably won't

1) NO: The type of plan I need, with a chronic illness, has many to most bells and whistles (as stated below) ... and, thus, with my boss--is NOT fully paid for (but there are certain formulas followed)

2) YES: COBRA rules certainly still can and do apply, but they are not cost effective for many if not most, terminated/laid off - with no prospects - employees ...

This just in: Now, suddenly my company wants to kick in for health insurance on the exchanges ... not sure if premiums fully paid ...

If I lose my job, do COBRA rules apply...?

Not on your life--a doctor can order a test on the flimsiest of indications if they've not been too experienced in a certain area of their specialty ... or even a retest or related test on a false positive ...

In related news, my tiny company has perked up their proverbial ears at a seminar directed at "small company advantages of State Exchanges" ...

Ironically, not for the vast majority of the rank-and-file in New York State. We will be coming out a little ahead ...

[Independent of any ideology: I am talking sheer dollars-and-cents here.]

Now, this plan, Health Republic could have been even less expensive, but I think they have to pay royalties to Magna Care for their network--rather than compose their own.

Thus, at least for 2014, my PCP is in that network. And, of course, all these insurance companies negotiate up the yin-yan; so if they think my doctor is over-testing, having me schedule too-frequent visits (I'm only 59 years old! And active.), he'd be hearing from them. NO insurance company needs to pay royalties for THOSE attributes!

Well, one thing I can say, for sure--is there is a live human being at the end of the customer service wire. There HAS to be - the State Exchange website, as experienced 20 days ago - as much of the US ObamaCare online experience - was so unnavigable that I practically put any old thing down there: and in the mail - lo and behold, I'd gotten - as garbage-in, garbage-out would have it - among other things, an application for Medicaid (I am employed full time ...and while it barely covers not all but a good chunk of my monthly nut, I am not a Medicaid case)

So, in conversation, I went from that to: "You're now approved to be on the state market place (i.e, ObamaCare) ... you have serious chronic health problems and a micromanaging doctor (no ... she didn't say that), so how about enrolling in Health Republic's Platinum Plan?
