I seldom eat breakfast these days as I would have brunch.

My favorite breakfast: fried rice, bacon and orange juice. Or bread, cheese, fried egg and a glass of milk.

Oatmeal with raisins and walnuts, some lean Jarlsberg cheese, and coffee or tea with dark chocolate ... unfortunately, I am diabetic and cannot buy the least expensive of oatmeal or much anything else, unless I've vetted the carb content first ... also, could not afford to be as pescetarian-style in eating as would be beneficial to my blood sugar management ...

Hot, warm, or even room-temperature oatmeal with evaporated milk (creamy flavour without the fat/cholesterol of cream), and a bit of honey or raw (demerara) sugar. A little powdered cinnamon also is great on oatmeal! Another choice: a homemade protein shake made with frozen fruit. An apple and/or a banana also are great for breakfast. Or, if we have it, a bowl of birchermuesli (Swiss oatmeal-based cereal), eaten cold, or with hot water plus low-fat or evaporated milk. Also, one cup, maybe two, of coffee with evaporated milk, NO sugar. I'm not very big on bread - every now and then, might have a toasted english muffin, or piece of toast, or a toaster waffle with the yogurt-based butter substitute we like.

I recently bought the ninja blender system with the individual cups I use it all the time so much easier to just make one cup of a smoothie than a whole blender full.

my go to is now smoothies: spinach, frozen fruit, nf vanilla yogurt, eas vanilla protein powder and a lil of soy milk its yummy...

to mix it up i will have oatmeal once in a while or a egg white wrap with turkey sausage from dd

My favorite breakfast is bacon and eggs. Haha.

But my BEST breakfast (and 1 I try to stick to) is homemade greek yogurt with raw honey, some almonds and blueberries. Or oatmeal with some apples, brown sugar and cinnamon. If all else fails, I'll just eat some fruit with a piece of toast, assuming I have fresh fruit in the house.

I love my hot cereal. Either oatmeal or 10 grain. I add various home dried fruits (no preservatives), chia seeds, sometimes chopped pecans, a heaping tablespoon peanut butter, served with some brown sugar and vanilla rice milk. Keeps me full until almost lunchtime. I usually eat breakfast around 6:30 and don't eat again until 12:30. I do have 2-15 oz coffees too in that time frame with raw sugar.

I love oatmeal and play with what I add all the time. I stick to large flake or steel cut oatmeal, not the instant. Large flake is faster than steel cut and is what I reach for most mornings. Lately, I've been adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to the water before adding the oatmeal, love the taste and the sweetness it adds, plus helps keep blood sugar levels balanced. Then I add my oatmeal and cook according to instructions, when 1 minute remains I add frozen or fresh blueberries (any fruit you enjoy would work) about 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts. Let it cook the last minute, then enjoy as is, with some applesauce, yogurt or milk (soy, almond, rice etc).

Other ideas for an oatmeal like breakfast include using quinoa, rice (I prefer brown) or other grain, try to stick with whole grains as they offer more fiber and nutrition and will keep you feeling full longer.

To give freely without expectation is a true gift.

Ever Hopeful, have you ever tried one of the oatmeal biscuit recipes? None are rating. I am looking for a tried and true one.

Also, this may be dumb, but anyone have tips on making omelets? I am generally a great cook, but I slaughter omelets every time. Oh sure they taste ok, but generally turn into scrambled eggs with stuff!

A small homemade latte with 2% milk, feta/spinach/onion crustless quiche (a chef meg recipe), 2 soy sausages and a seasonal fruit (right now its tangelos from my neighbor's yard).

I find a breakfast that packs a protien punch helps stave off hunger longer. I also try to get one fruit and one veggie in my breakfast if possible. The eggs are from my urban hens in my backyard and right now the spinach is also from my yard.

I also enjoy oatmeal with bananas and pecans (from a friend's tree), but because there's not as much protien - it doesn't stick with me as long, I find. Even though it has more overall calories.

Breakfast is one of my most challenging meals to eat. I don't like eating right after I wake up, but I do lose weight when I make it a habit. I work out after breakfast so I shoot for a little over 400 calories. I eat 3 egg whites with half an egg yolk for flavor, 1 Activia yogurt, an apple and 1-2 coffees with 2 international delight creamers each.

I have been drinking GNC's Lean protein shakes for breakfast all week mixed with 1% chocolate milk. It's delicious and gives me tons of energy.

PS - I had a few crackers, some milk and a banana for breakfast this morning.

Maybe I will try the biscuits next week.

Thanks, Karen!

I actually already made some crackers last night. I made the No Roll Oatmeal Crackers.

I did not think I would like them, but I did!
I divided the dough in half and used half as is, and added rosemary to the second half. Flavor-wise I liked the ones with rosemary better, but I did like the plain ones too. I thought I wouldn't, but I did.

I also found that it is really important to make the batter as thin as possible. The first bunch had more crunch than the second one. I think I pressed them thinner and that is why.

I may make some more plain ones and bring them to share in the church nursery. Unless a kid is allergic to oatmeal, they are super safe!

I used to eat a lot of oatmeal in the winter - with apple and cinnamon or banana and cinnamon.
I just haven't been in the mood lately.

Oatmeal cookies I have heard of. They are good! I don't know if I can find a recipe healthy enough for breakfast.
Oatmeal crackers? That's something new! To me anyway.

I could make oatmeal muffins too.

I love scrambled eggs with mushrooms and a little cheese and spinach too, when I have time. Otherwise I love hard boiled eggs and egg whites, Oatmeal or other cereal with canadian bacon.

Right now the nice warm oatmeal is my fav.

Eggwhites (which can become scrambled eggs in the office microwave)=protein
(sometimes I add veggies: mushrooms, little tomato pieces, anything I have)
Grits (for carbs)
Coffee, then tea all day (8 cups, plus water, gives me all the water I need.)

dianne there are loads of ways to have oatmeal.
meusili
mixed in a natural yogurt with chopped up fruit
cooed as porrige with a chopped apple and dash of cinnimon for sweetness
or to make some oatmeal biscuits which is an easy to go with and eat on the way when in a hurry.
or make some oatmeal crackers that you can have with cheese or honey or a chopped egg.

I will admit mine is omelettes - spinach, mushroom, mushroom and cheese, spinach and cheese, anything from the garden....

However, I don't want eggs every morning.
I should eat more oatmeal. Do you have a favourite way to prepare it for one?
What other foods do you have for breakfast?

(Yesterday, I had leftover soup!)
