Wow, all but 3!

That's great!

I haven't done a total for myself yet, just looked at things I do, and things I don't do. Some of them I do, but I could do more. Sometimes it's a matter of where do you draw the line. Unplugging things is a good example. I can see unplugging certain things that I don't use a lot. I'm not going to go around unplugging my lamps though. It would be too hard to plug them back in in the dark! (Plus I don't think that they continually run electricity anyway.)

I have a bamboo cutting board and some bamboo socks. I love the cutting board!

The socks are nice and soft, but I'm not sure that they are any better than cotton.

From Day 7:

Unplug. It's not enough to simply turn off electronics when you're not using them. When they're plugged in, they're still sucking in and wasting electricity. Get in the habit of unplugging chargers, TVs, computers and more.

Has anyone tried this?
I don't do it generally, although I do unplug battery chargers, I rarely unplug computers or TV's.

Visit the library. Instead of buying books, CDs, movies and magazines, borrow them. The library is free, local and eco-friendly. Imagine how many resources are saved when hundreds of people share one book from a central location!

(From Day 5)

I really like this one! I love libraries. However, I love owning books too. Just ask my husband. He says I have too many books and should get rid of some. emoticon

Bring your own bag. Bring reusable bags everywhere, from the grocery to the mall. If you can't afford to buy bags, then reuse the plastic ones you already have. If you don't need a bag for your items, politely decline.

Use cloth napkins. All disposable items hurt the environment, and that includes paper products like napkins. In the end, you'll save money by investing in cloth, which also looks more sophisticated.

I'm a big fan of cloth dish towels instead of paper ones. We do buy paper towels, but use them very sparingly - just for the gunkiest of messes.

Conserve - Conserve energy and other resources at every opportunity. Unplug items that aren't used often, but consume electricity. Conserve the use of electricity during daylight hours. Take advantage of natural light. Do the cute lamps really need to be on during the day?

Turn off lights in rooms that aren't being used. Use solar lights outside around the house rather than running outdoor lights all night.

Be stingy with your electricity.

Dear Lord, set my sights on You and Your great attributes. Help me to live in Your presence, dependent on Your guidance each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Recycle. Most people can recycle more than they do. Paper, magazines, cardboard, cereal boxes, glass, aluminum foil, cans and even grocery bags should go in your bin, not the trash.

At first glance this one does not save us money, but it is good to do.

Then again, many places we can take at least some of our bottles and cans to be recycled and get money for them. So that really is a money saver.

Collecting bottles and cans that others leave behind can earn us just a little extra cash. Not much, but on the other hand, its not hard to do, so why not do it?

Going green is great for the environment.
It is also good for the budget in many ways!

Here is a link to the SP Green Calendar for April.

How many of these do you do?
Which ones save you the most money?
Are there any that you don't do now, that you will try?

What is missing from the list?
