That's great - so then - you could chat about the exercise you do - the meals you prepare and the shopping and maybe other things outside when you are out!!
Maybe even chat about weight loss - and how you are going - and maybe about the challenges you enter !!
Summer will soon be gone there - and Autumn will be coming in - the season for Thanksgiving - and harvests - so maybe there are season changes, changes about you that are seasonally linked - like weather,m the freggies in the shops - flowers in the garden, even birdsong all change with seasons!!

I think that what Sandra meant was that there must be other things as well in your life - I know you have problems - but we all have problems in our lives - however if we let those problems overwhelm us - they take over our life and then we are in trouble,. We need to get a balance - sometimes we need to look at other things that are happening around us - there is good and bad in everything and if you are determined to look only at the bad then you will miss the good -
If you feel you need support to the extent that it would be detremental not to get it - then you need professional help - and we cannot give you that.

I see that Sandra has extended the "Don't worry, Be happy" week for another week - so please lets make some effort to find balance - and maybe you could do a bit of exercise and food tracking as well - wow!! now that is a really different idea!! .
Thank you

Milly - the don't worry be happy week is a good idea. But - it is hard to pretend to be happy when a lot of things are going wrong in your life. It helps me a great deal to get support from my friends here and it would be very detrimental to me at this point to not interact and get support from my friends. The only way I could keep from posting "problems" is to simply not post at all and I really don't want to do that. I want to be honest and truthful about what is going on in my life, and I want to know what is truly going on in my friends lives.

Kathy, Shari & Nola,

Thank you for wishing me well. I know we all suffer a lot of the same problems so we just need to hang in there and support each other.

Shari, I am especially sorry about your mother being on the floor so long. She probably forgot that she had her cell phone in her pocket. Thankfully, one of my children was here the times when I fell, although I am bad about not carrying my cell phone with me......so maybe I should learn from this, although I pray thee will not be a next time.

Got to go get some sleep. PT guy will be here first thing in the morning. By the way Shari, be sure to be checking into Home Health for your Mom, if they don't send her to a nursing home for rehab.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Shari, hope your Mom continues to improve! I will carry both of you close in heart!

Good Morning!

I am sitting here ready to take my computer down and I already feel lonesome! I genuinely appreciate all of the warm and loving support and comments that you have passed along! I do so look forward to them each day!

When I finish a few things this AM my computer is going to come down until my new service is up and running Monday of next week (Tuesday latest)! So will talk to you next from NC!

Believe me when I say that I, in truth, look forward to next week when I get back to my friends!

Ginger - it's good to hear from you. It is wonderful that your children help you so much. I hope you feel better soon

Shari - I'm so sorry to hear about your mother - I will pray for her to get better very soon. I'm sorry she had to go through that. and thank you for your kind words for Daddy

I actually get a day off tomorrow....neither Daddy nor I have any appointments for tomorrow....I had an emergency dentist appointment today to fix a broken tooth that was cutting my tongue (that is what I get for eating bacon at the hospital - a broken tooth!)

It's been quite day.

Got a call from my mom around 10am; she said something about being on the floor and not being able to get up. I am not able to drive right now because of health issues, so my best friend took me out to her house. We found her on the floor of the living room, and we didn't want to try to pick her up in case something was broken, so we called 911. While we were waiting for the ambulance to get there, my mom told us she had been on the floor since 6:30pm last night; she had her cell phone in her pocket, so we don't know why she waited so long to call someone.

Anyway, the EMTs checked her out and she didn't seem to have any broken bones, and her vitals were good. She didn't want to go the hospital, but I knew she needed to go, and I talked her into it, and I wasn't going to take "no" for an answer.

After running lab work and calling her doctor, she was admitted to the hospital from the ER. She has a UTI and a kidney infection, and was severely dehydrated; that is especially scary to me because she also has stage 3 kidney disease. She is doing a lot better tonight, and they will be keeping her in the hospital at least a couple of days.

Ginger, I hope you feel better soon; I have sciatica and I know the pain can be miserable.

Kathy; we are here for you, and we care about your dad too. Please don't feel bad for talking about him! We are hear to listen whenever you need.

Good Morning Ladies,

It has been a LONG time since I've been on the chat line and I apologize but things have been very hectic for me lately. Hope everyone is doing well this week. Lucky me, no falls or ambulance rides this past week which I'm so thankful for. I'm getting "home health" now and have a PT guy who comes 2x a week and give me exercises. I also have a very nice aide who comes and helps me shower 3x a week. I will be glad when I am strong enough to do it myself.

In the last year (since July 2012), I have gone from using one cane, to using two canes, to using a walker with wheels, to using, on occasion, a wheelchair. I was always vibrant and participated in the challenges, etc. on the teams I was on. Wonder what knocked me down?

Sciatica nerve pain. I've had it in the past and it would bother me for a week and then go away. But not this time, it has just gotten worse and worse, this, plus swelling (lymphedema) that has been hard to combat. I, for all practical purposes, live in my recliner except when I do my exercises. I even have a bedside commode next to my chair in my LR for emergencies. Otherwise, I walk to the bathroom with my walker, followed by my daughter with the wheel chair, because my knees just buckle under me now for no reason.

I have had a series of falls in the past two months. Five just since June 21st. I'm 62 and should not be in this condition and it greatly upsets and bothers me. I just finished all of my exercises and it took me 30 minutes. Of course, I am sitting down when I do them. I have a marching one I do with the walker but only when my daughter is present and a chair is in back of me.

Today I see the doctor which is good because I have been wheezing a lot and have been so short of breath and my inhalers just aren't doing the job so guess when my daughter gets up, I'll have to go use the nebulizer with the albuterol. I also hope she (dr.) can do something about the swelling in my legs. I have had them elevated and take 80mg of Lasix everyday so just don't understand why they don't go down.

But I am positive and thank God everyday that I wake up and can stand and walk with the walker to the bedside commode. It may not seem like much but when your knees just buckle under you for no apparent reason, it's scary. Thankfully, I've got my two kids still living at home.

My son, who is 24 years old and graduated from a two year tech school, works 12 hours on, 12 hours off at a local plant. It is a good job but he sure comes home tired out but he likes it and all the guys he works with. When he is off he is either riding his Harley or getting another tattoo! But he's a good son and helps out around the house doing yard work, mowing, stuff guys do and he even runs the vacuum on occasion and does grocery shopping. What more could a Mom ask for??? LOL

My daughter, who is 23 years old, is going to a two year technical school doing photography which she loves and is very good at. She does many weddings on weekends and family portraits. She has found her nitch and I am happy for her. She did not sign up for any fall classes but has decided to take a semester off because she is tired and worn out (she went all summer to a 4x5 large format class which was exhausting for her)....... and so she can help get me back on my feet and walking around again, driving and just being a normal person again. Also, she had thyroid cancer in 2011 and her surgeon took out her thyroid and 17 lymph nodes and it is hard to get her "thyroid levels" right so I'm o.k. with all of this since she is also doing all the meals, wash, etc. because I can't stand without swaying.

And that's what is going on with me. It's a good day......I'm up, exercised and now drinking coffee which my daughter made for me before going back to bed. Looks like rain so I don't blame her. My son is off work today so he will go with me to the doctor along with Ginia in case she needs help with me, which I hope she doesn't.

I've gained a tremendous amount of weight since all this happened but I did it once and I can do it again. Hope everyone else has a great day.

Hugs to all of you!

Ginger

Kathy I love Turbo lift! I hope Paul Eugene makes available on disc so I can get the full thing and do it. He has others on You tube which I do every week too and am getting the discs of those as well. Check out his Latin Chair Dancing video some time.

It will get you moving right along too!
LDion I sure hear you about being sore after doing new exercises. If you have one of those rice bags you heat in the microwave and use them on hips and back it will really help the pain. The good news is the more you move and stretch those muscles and tone them up, the pain will go away and you will be moving so much easier. Best Wishes to you on them.

I don't think that I am going to watch "Extreme Weight Loss" with Chris Powell.......even though it does inspire me........trouble is.....it also frustrates me....makes me feel guilty that I am not losing that kind of weight and that I cannot do the exercises that he had them do.....Sometimes I feel good about what I've accomplished and then I watch that and feel ashamed ......

emoticon Kathy-wishing your Dad well. Been there done that with my parents and my mother in law and understand!

emoticon My day was fine. Went for a walk and finally went a whole mile. I took the handicap placard off the windshield this afternoon. Put it in the pocket as I may need it again but for now I'm doing ok. It's been there for almost two years.

emoticon Went to PT yesterday and I had an update eval. I had good range, good bend, almost straight, and good gate! Was unable to lift my leg as high as I should and little strength. He said I had weak glutes & thigh muscles, and tight hamstrings. (Funny it is all places that I still am fat!) More PT but also found out that I must have hit an insurance mark because I no longer have to pay a co-pay! He gave me three new exercises and boy am I sore tonight after doing them at the gym this afternoon. Of course I was there almost two hours between the pool and the exercise room.

thank you everyone for your concerns. I'm sure you must get tired of hearing about my Daddy but it means a great deal to me that you all listen :)

Well, today has been better. Daddy is already feeling better from the effects of the blood transfusion. His final radiation treatment is tomorrow. (at least for now - who knows what the future holds)

My doctor visits have all went well lately - all results have come back in the good...have not got the results of the mammogram yet..hopefully that will be ok as well.

Got my workout in today...106 minutes total counting my walking. It feels good to do my workout each day.

everyone have a great evening.

Kathy, I hope your dad feels better soon.

Pretty good week for me so far, it's my week off from chemo.
My best friend picked me up for lunch and also took me to do my shopping for the week.
I did my workout this morning, because I knew I'd be too tired and sore when I got home.

Well...it's not been a very good day. But at least I know why Daddy is having a bad day...his hemoglobin is low again. they are going to do a transfusion in the morning. So he should be better in about a day. At least for a while. We have two radiation treatments left...hopefully after those stop he will get some strength back (just in time to have more chemo of course)

I walked an hour today but have not got my turbo chair workout in...hope to do that in a few minutes. I had a dr appt today that kept me from doing it earlier.

everyone have a good evening and a better tomorrow

wow, thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes for the grand babies to arrive healthy.

I am down in bonita springs now. I had a lovely workout in the pool yesterday, and got 20 minutes of chair exercise done today. My abs are talking to me, and my legs feel like jello. I am doing pretty good, but plan to take it a bit easier. my body is yelling at me. If I dnt listen I will set myself back. Its fine if it grumbles, but yelling is another matter.

Hope the pregnancy goes well!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy Sunday - and it really is too!
Rain seems to be letting up so we should be able to work on the black truck today and put its new transmission in.
Daddy seems to be having an ok morning although he seemed a little depressed last night. Told me last night that he didn't think he would live much longer. I didn't really know what to say to that - just told him I loved him and that I would do my best to take care of him. Seems to be a little more hopeful this morning.
I already got in my workout this morning - 6 am is really a little to early for it, but I wanted to get it out of the way today!
Hope everyone else is having a good day as well!
Happy soul
I dont have any children of my own. I was a DES daughter and had female cancer at age 22. But my husband had 2 boys he raised by himself, We lost the youngest to kidney and heart failure 5 years ago, he was 27. He was a brittle diabetic. Anyway, the oldest Son calls me Mom, and I am YA YA to the Grand baby, Logan. We are praying the pregnancy goes ok, the twins are in one sac and its a very high risk pregnancy, she will be in the hospital on bed rest at 28 weeks.
BTW I am leaving in the morning to go care for some family members in Bonita Springs. Not sure what net access I will have or when I will be back.
just my luck I hit the produce market this morning and have 60 bucks worth of fresh veggies in the fridge. I just made up half a dozen salads in mason jars to keep hubby going while I am gone, and thank god I made a big pot roast today for tomorrow. I still ahve 2 quarts of strawberries to prep, and I am pooped. I am thinking I will take a cooler down with me with a lot of my veggies etc so I can stay on track easier. that household is full of junk food, candy, salty snacks and prepared garbage.. yuck.. packing my vita mix blender as well. I am going to do my best to salty on track with exercise and food while gone, but its usually a pretty hectic and stressful situation when I go down. I will be shuffling between a rehab center to see my aunt, and the hospital to see my cousin. OY VEY
So glad your Dad is feeling better Kathy.
We've had a great day today, with my sister and brother-in-law from Switzerland dropping in for lunch on their way home. It's a year since we last saw each other, so we had a lot of catching up to do. Oldest son is also here with DiL and two grandchildren for the weekend so it was lovely to have them here as well.
Hi everyone! Guess what?!
Daddy went out today!!!! He was feeling well enough to go to the "shop" (an antique store where he has lots of friends) and then we went to Food City and he was able to walk around the store. I was so happy and so was he. Now if it will just last!
I got in over an hour of walking today - still going to do my turbo chair workout in a little while though.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
I had a good night of sleep last night, and even though I had pain pretty much all over today, not being so tired makes it much easier to handle. I even did a 20 minute workout today, after missing it for two days. I'm also not wishing for the day to end today like I was yesterday.
Kathy, glad your dad is feeling better, and Jean, I am happy for your good news!
I use Stevia and I haven't had any problems with it. I usually just use it once a day though, to sweeten the glass of iced tea I usually have every day. I also use it for my version of lemonade; I add to water that I have squeezed fresh lemon juice in. It takes just enough of the sourness out of the lemon without making it overly sweet.
I enjoyed the Relay picnic last night, and this year, the survivors could register early for the Survivor Celebration which will take place during the Relay next month, and we also got our tee shirts.
Missed my workout today; had a rough night and early morning from chemo side effects. I should be ok if I can get a good night of sleep tonight. Only slept 4 hours last night.
I never have any luck with hostas if they are in any real sun. Some say they are able but I always find they get sun burned in Aug. Depends where you are maybe. The lilies I got are a variety of colours - many with 1-3 colours per flower with the throat one colour, the outer petals another and the inner a third or all one colour and a fine edge in another. I have reds, orangy reds, yellows, pinks, pinky-yellow, peach. In my other gardens I have one that is creamy white with purple trim around the middle, a red one, a bright reddy orange, yellow with a brown trim inside, a purple, a deep burgundy with a bright yellow throat, school bus yellow, lemon yellow, and a deep red. I have tall one, middle height ones and the smaller Stella's. Another thing that does well on hillsides and such as long as not full sun, is Heucheras - Coral Bells - they come in all kinds of colours and you grow them for the colourful leaves.
12 different daylilies LINJARVIS! I didn't even know there were that many - what colours are they? I have a slope that I want to fill with daylilies and hostas (so we don't have to mow it any more - it's treacherous) I'll have to look around and see who sells different ones, the orange/yellow ones are all I have now.
My day was tied up with 2 medical appts and a wonderful trip out in the country that my husband drove me to where I picked up 12 different day lilies - now to get a bed ready for them! Great news at one of the medical appts - my Diabetes 3 month blood test showed a drop in my glucose level from 6.1 to 5.4 - huge!!!! I'm doing the happy dance!
I did make it to the pool today too and did 1/2 an hour of Aquafit (I usually do 70 mins but felt ill after a half hr.) Tomorrow is another medical appt. and then I hope to work in the garden - 10 mins then 15-20 resting, 10 on, 15-20 off, whatever my heart failure allows.
