A quick banana before I leave school in the afternoon, or a granola bar, really curbs the hunger for me. So, important, bc this is the time of day when I can easily just mindlessly eat while I'm cooking dinner for everyone else. Or, I get so ravenous that I overeat once dinner is complete. But, just that little snack before my 15 minute drive home makes all the difference.

I agree with the few of you that seem to be hungrier if you eat a breakfast no matter how healthy or filling! I love to drink coffee so I have my coffee in the morning then a late morning snack. I do find however if I drink caffinated coffee or a regular diet soda I am "starving"! So I have cut out the caffeine and that has seemed to really help. I have also added a better breakfast back in and I don't seem as hungry as before. Eating a large salad with lots of veggies and only 2 Tbsp. of light dressing also seems to help curb the cravings I have late in the afternoon.
If I eat breakfast, I am hungry for the rest of the day. I drink two cups of coffee and go to the gym for 2 1/2 hours and as soon as I am done, I drink 3 oz of protein mix. There are time I get very hungry and can't wait to get home for lunch and then, there are other times I ma not feeling hungry.

Oh yeah, the afternoon crazy eating ... I have been battling this for years!! Finally I decided to try chewing gum, I think I heard that on the Biggest Looser, and its helped ALOT!! Granted I go through a huge pack in about 2 days, but it has helped me stay away from the snack room!! Hope this helps!

I do the 6 small meals a day plan. I never skip breakfast and then I eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours after that. So breakfast at 7:00 am snake at 9:30 Lunch at 12:00 pm snake at 3:00 dinner runs a little late because I go to the gym after work so dinner by 6:00 or 7:00 at the latest. I will even do a piece of fruit at 9:00 if I am really hungry AND I have worked out. On this schedule it doesn't really matter to me if I am still a little hungry because I know I can eat again in a short perior of time. Meals are really small though usually a lien protien, poultry or fish, and a veggie or fruit. I was really hungry when I first stated this 14 months ago but I found as I stuck to it, it didn't bother me so much. 70 pounds down it seems to work for me at least. Good luck.
I Have to have a lot of lean protein. I know I can't get by with just a salad. I work best on a sandwich--turkey & low-fat or fat-free cheese on whole-wheat with tomatoes, pickles, lettuce. Followed by fruit. At snacks, the same is true. I will eat a Light & Fit Dannon yogurt with 5 grams of protein, for example.
to stop the cravings take 1-2 tablets of chromium supplement; it regulates the insulin roller coaster; apparently most people are chromium defficient; it worked for me, after a week, I only had to take it twice a week,

Thank you and any one else with something to offer - I'm ready to listen. Thanks especially for the "I'm worth", how often do we forget!! Green peppers are going on the grocery list and celery as soon as the quality goes up a bit more. Sad to say - but reading "battle" "stress" "hard" "stay busy" - it helps to know you are not alone, going why do I eat like I do?
I always bring a piece of fruit and a low fat string cheese for a snack - AND I always bring several and I do stress several cups of vegetables. My favorite is green pepper. Celery is pretty good too. Anything to put into my mouth. If I want something sweet I chew "Extra" sugar free gum. I find that I just need to have something in my mouth. I was a thumb sucker as a child and I wonder if the "mouth thing" is a residual???? You can do this - you are worth the effort!

No funny story from me, it is a battle. I don't keep unhealthy snacks anymore. I find if I eat a big breakfast I am not so hungry till dinner. I am eating oatmeal for breakfast these days, which is probably driving my mother crazy. Good the Lord want let her come down for an hour since as a child with asthma she worried that I never gained weight. I would sit at the breakfast table for an hour with a bowl of oatmeal staring at me. Drove my sister batty because she would have to stay there till I ate and she would try to help by sneaking bites. My voluntary eating oatmeal is a family joke, my children heard the story from my mother many times before her death.
I seem to handle the AM and lunch pretty good most days. THEN I eat a healthy lunch....and look for food from then until I leave work. No, the 3:00 planned snack, does not stop me - gets eaten but that is not all. Afternoon Help requested - or a story to at least make me laugh about it.
