I ended up trying the meet up thing. It was a lot of fun, and I'm on a wait list for another in a couple of weeks.

I highly recommend it for anyone else.

Thanks for the suggestions. =D

Definitely agree with looking on Meetup.com. The Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group is the best, in my opinion. The group schedules many hikes for all levels, from easy "walk-in-the-park"-type hikes to strenuous hikes. I've been a member for a couple of years.

ADRIA,
The place I found all the hiking groups was on MEETUP.com
If you go on group hikes you will find someone who is interested in your goal.

This listing on all sorts of groups is throughout the country. There are D.C. groups, Baltimore groups, Virginia groups. You'll find some that relate close to your area.

(posted this in the SoMD group.. thought i'd try here as well)

I actually managed about 4 miles Sat. It felt really good... I'm just... still kind of doing it on my own. My eventual goal is 16 miles in a day, and I know as i get closer to that, soloing isn't as good of an idea.

Don't suppose anyone has any ideas for finding a hiking buddy? Thinking about maybe craigslist.

Mostly looking for someone who I can get along with and have about the same pace.
