Hi there and welcome!! Lots of what you say I identify with, like pushing 50 and your accident (I did not have an car accident but an injured foot (chornic nerve injury) and started with a 20 minute walk a day...SP has inspired me to make strength training part of my routine and now I walk 35-40 min, 3x per week plus strength training...feel great and has lost 5 kg's but still have 5 to go. At this stage we are moving house and country so for me it's great to be part of SP community which has no borders. Any way, just to wish you all the best and success with your endeavours!!
This is my first time on a team page or posting. I decided to join Spark People after reading about it in Oprah's magazine. My friends would all say I don't need to lose weight, however I just hide it well and need to lose 10 pounds to be a healthier weight (BMI)and to learn to eat healther. Some of the foods I used to get away with eating are now sticking to my mid section and gaining is a bit too easy. To top it off I was recently in a car accident so I can no longer do more than my daily walk (now 20 minutes)so I need to at minimum keep from gaining more weight. Previously I was walking 40 minutes daily, working out twice weekly and swimming occasionally. I am pushing 50 and am sure my metabolism is changing. My life is also changing as my youngest (of two) is heading off to college next week and we will be empty nesters. That sounds complaining, but really I'm just hoping that by connecting with others I can get ideas of healthier snacking and keep motivated through what is bound to be an emotional period in my life.
