Darn teens...they'd listen to us more only if they didn't already know everything and we weren't so ancient. But think of it this way: better they are making these mistakes now and falling flat on their pimply little faces than living in our basements at 30 and leeching off of grandma. We just gotta give them the best tools we can and have faith that they'll figure out how to use them. Sounds pretty brave for the mom of a high-school drop out hmmm? Where is the rest of that cake???? But then I remember that sometimes the best gift you can give them is the constant and sure message that it's good to take care of yourself! That's one that will come in handy...so, no cake for me! I'm taking the maniacal canine for a walk instead.
Hang in there mamas...they figure it out.

if anything can ruin your day, it is teenagers. i woke up this morning to my daughter not being in her bed. the 'bad decision' thing is rampant at that age. if you can figure out how to handle it, tell me. there is a slight difference. my daughter is 19 and legally of age so i guess she can do what she wants. that helps to relieve some of the stress. that and the treadmill at the gym. put on the headphones and zone out on the treadmill. it works wonders for the stress and the waistline
Do the best for the best, yourself!

How is everyone doing? Finally we get a day here in Minnesota that is not raining. I have never seen it rain so much since I have lived here in 25 years. I am working through the divorce and with my brother at the ICU a lot combined with work and school, so most of my days are flying by. I am trying my best not to let the stress talk me into giving up on what I want to do which is get rid of this darn weight.
A few tips that have helped me to keep on track is the S.T.O.P thinking process. ( S= Should I be eating, T= tell me what you are really feeling, 0= offer myself alternatives, P= pay attention to the difference between hunger and emotions.)
I also have pasted a picture of myself in my office where I am at a lot to remind myself why I am dieting. Since I became overweight I know that I tend to avoid mirrors and pictures so this helps me to see the truth and gives me motivation to continue on my diet. I also wrote a list of what I ate before I began the diet and to start off I just took 1 thing off my list every three day that I did not need to eat. These things seem to help me a lot.
Have a great day everyone, Crystal
You need not feel my heartbeat to know I am alive. You need not see my smile to know I care. You need not be alone for a friend is near.
