Every once and a while I will have hot flashes, and the memory is starting to go, so is the sleep, but at mid 40"s I hear I am in perimenopaus, the women in my family usually are in their early 50"s when all craziness hits the fan. But thankfully there are remedies out there that are a true blessing for all in and around!

I am 44 and I thought is was starting a couple of years ago but found out I had some other health related issues that have since been resolved. My memory is really bad, I get really hot at night and I don't always sleep through the night. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with menopause.

I'm not sure if what I go through is premenopausal........BUT I do have the brain farts big time, and if I'm not on my meds for OCD and Bipolar, I REALLY feel the craziness. One of my professors told me that when she hit this time of her life, she found out she was bipolar and went on meds...She said these saved her life and she didn't have the same troubles she did beforehand. So, I wonder if my meds are simply covering any menopausal symptoms. Regardless, I am grateful. I feel my ovaries work every month...they do that crampy thing. But, I had a partial hysterectomy, and I don't have a period. It's actually kinda fun to "guess" what's going to happen each month! Tee hee....

What does the Flaxseed oil do? I know it's great for bowel/fiber needs, but I didn't know it helps menopause.

I am just starting to notice a few changes--sleeping less, lighter TOM(yea!), some forgetfullness etc. Exercise and healthy eating seem to help with a lot of it. I do however sometimes wake up very sweaty. Is that a pre-menapause symptom? I suppose I could get tested but I like to avoid Dr's.

To each his own.
The thought of being on birth controls pills at least for me would not be what I would want to have.
And I don't always agree with what they say about the birth control pill. I know what it did to me years a go when I was on it. So I choose the natural way.

Have you thought about getting back on birth control ? I am in my 40's and the doctor kept me on the pill so I won't have to go through all the terrible menopause side effects. I also is believed to prevent some cancers, staying on a low dose of the pill. Talk to your doctor see what he says....There is a blood test that will tell you if you are in pre of post menopause. I am in post menopause with no hot flashes or the mood swings.

Thanks, Sandie! You're right, Nismo is my sister's dog. He's a Toy Fox Terrier and an absolute doll. He's about 8 lbs and ALL of it is personality!

I haven't seen a Rat Terrier, but I'm going to Google them now because you've got me curious. emoticon

I know this is off subject but gotta say to HAVANESEFAN-
Love that Rat Terrier in your pic! (I think that one is your sisters dog.) His face looks just like my "Chase" (well he's my hubby's dog) but looks a little smaller. Chase (4 yrs. old) got bigger than I wanted so I got myself my little Cocoa Mae (3 yrs. old)-she's a six pound rattie. :-) They are GREAT dogs!

I'm so relieved to see that I'm not the only one having brain farts. No hot flashes, but my skin is definitely getting itchy and dry. I am anxiously waiting for my period to stop, but so far it's like clockwork.

My husband is adapting to my moodiness and forgetfulness, but it's driving me nuts. Of the two of us, I used to be the one that didn't forget anything...not anymore. To be honest, he's probably relieved that this is happening. Now I'm more likely to forget what he's promised to get done around here. emoticon

I'm 46 and haven't had a period in over a year. My symptoms (every single one mentioned here and night sweats too) started when I was 43. I talked to my nurse practitioner about it and she said there was no way it was menopause. She said I was too young. Hah, I showed her. LOL. I take Black Cohosh & Flaxseed Oil to combat the symptoms and that seems to be working pretty effectively for me. I still get irritable every once in a while but who doesn't!!
Now when I forget to do something I just blame it on menopause. I too was having a horrible time getting the weight off. Then I found Spark and got myself into an exercise routine and am half way to my goal. I seem to have hit a plataeau but I know I will get past it soon and get the last 5 or 10 pounds off!

I'll be 50 soon and I have all of the symptoms except the hot flashes (for which I am VERY thankful.) They've been building for the past 3 years. The one that is effecting me the most at the moment is the problems with sleeping. I have trouble off and on anyway, and this is just horrible! It effects everything. The lack of sleep is probably one of the biggest contributors to my not being able to get the weight loss started again. UGH!

Hi
I will be 49 this month and did not even notice that I was slightly menopausal until this month! I had mini hot flashes for a few years, but now have many sysmptoms. I have all the moodiness and emotional behavior (My husband said I have been crabby for a year!) I just started natural progesterone creme to see how that will go. I don't have much forgetfulness yet but lots of all the other common symptoms including weight gain and thyroid trouble. I will get that straightened out when I see the doctor in two weeks. I am doing lots of reading on the subject and talking to my gal pals who have been going through this longer than me. Good luck and hang in there!

Memory Lapses are one of the symptoms of pre-menopause. I got hot flashes, dry, itching skin and couldn't sleep at all. It started early last year and I am 45.

I would say the HOT flashes.

And NO your not going crazy! And every thing you mentioned does happen.

If I did not take over the counter Extra strength Estroven I would be miserable all the time. My family is so glad there is Estroven. For me it helps with all the things you mentioned. Except for the memory loss/comprehension.
My youngest says oh mom is that what you have, grandma calls it "a senior moment" lol. And she just turned 88.
SO I know it's the menopause related.

I just turned 44 and recently had blood tests done see where I was (NOT in menopause). Well, I have been having major mini-hot flashes for weeks. Not sure what is going on but am baffled.

what were your first symptoms?

I'll be 49 this fall and though my body seems the same, I feel like I'm losing my mind. Memory lapses, drop in reading comprehension, irritability, mood swings, emotional outbursts...it's frustrating.

Am I going crazy, or is this similar to some of you?
