Walking is my main exercise, though I want to run. Allergies/asthma have gotten in the way of running so I am working on a little at a time. I walk on a track across the street from my house. That way a)I don't have to drive anywhere and b)I don't have traffic to contend with if I walked on the road. (No sidewalks in rural TN!) I also do weights a couple of times a week. emoticon

I walk around my flat suburban neighborhood - they are building some new houses nearby, about a mile out, so me and the dog will head that way tomorrow morning. No "fun" walks all week (sad dog) because I was too busy with work - that's enough of that, I need to get back to my early morning before-work walks!

I walk because I want to signal my body to start growing again, to stop the decay I let set in - and I just feel good when I walk - historically, I was a big walker/hiker, all of my life, then I let some lifestyle changes get in the way - for like a dozen years - so am trying to back to my younger self :)

I started walking so that I could,start running. I had to get myself stronger. I am now running every other day. Soon, I will be running every day. So far, I am very motivated because of some weight loss and loss of inches! emoticon

One drop of sweat is a dead calorie!

I walk 3-4 miles a day for the sake of walking. i am in Fl. for the winter and have enjoyed it here. It is so nice to walk with no,snow.

I'm walking just because that my favorite exercise right now...I would also like to walk enough to get my B/P down that would be awesome

I walking to walk down blood pressure and I doing pretty good my stomach is going down some.
The fat across my back is going away. So I am on a mission also good luck.

That's too funny. I too love to geocache. Found one once that was staged as a bird feeder. They even glued bird seed on the glass making it look full!. I also have to agree with you in that i'm not one who likes to walk in a complete circle,ie a track. I like to feel like I'm accomplishing something or going somewhere. Usually take the dog for a walk or walk in a different neighborhood just to people watch.

So Yesterday I was in Vancouver taking my mother to see doctors - I imputed caches near the Dr. offices into my GPS.(read my blog) I think the people in Vancouver must be more creative than people in Squamish. The caches are so well disguised in Van. yesterday I gave my first favorite award. I found the location quick and easy but the cache itself was another matter - the cache was a piece of paper in a small zip lock bag under a "fridge" type magnetic. I was looking for a container like a screw or thimble.
I was searching a garbage can when a lady came up and said excuse me and dropped a doggie bag of poo in it - she must have thought I was crazy. I was so close the cache was just a few hands away but I was looking in all the wrong places for a wrong type of container..

I do not usually walk just for the sake of walking - I am on a mission.
I am taking the dog out - or going shopping - or geocaching or I am going for a hike.

What is your Reason? What do you accomplish?
