My favorite all-time exercise is on the elliptical - don't know why it is so different for me with the treadmill, but it just is. However, now that I am working out at home instead of the gym - the treadmill it is. For some reason - when I work out on the elliptical - I push myself - I pay attention to my body and I am energized. When I work out on the treadmill - I am often looking at the time spent to see when I will be through.
I could read while doing it - but I tend to go at a slower pace when I read.
I could watch something while doing it - and while I usually keep going - if there is something interesting - I notice I slow down as well.
I have tried walking a bit on the treadmill while taking short bursts of running or jogging. Then I go back to walking again. However, I'm just trying to figure out why I usually choose the treadmill last as a way to exercise - and I'm trying to get past that to start using it again.
