Hi all, hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas. I did. Now day after Christmas I wake up with Strep Throat. Uggggggg My throat feels like it has a ball of fire in it!

I'm excited to start the Green Smoothie Challenge on Jan 2 and detox all this CRAP out of my body! Hoping 2013 is a way healthier year for me. Blogging about 2012 health in the next couple of days, and again, hoping 2013 will be healthier!!!

I just ordered a Fitbit Zip yesterday with a gift card I received for Christmas! I can't wait to get it and start tracking with it. I agree with a previous poster who said they love to compete. I'm like that, too, and know that I am more likely to stick with a program or plan if I can see what progress I'm making.

Hi Tema,

I don''t have the Fitbit yet, but it is in my plans. I want the Fitbit One, because of all the additional things it tracks. The reason I know Fitbit will work for me is because I like to compete. With this I can compete with myself, and I know it will give me something to look forward to with physical activity and trying to get my sleep right.

I've been on here a while and have been slacking on my posting on the boards in my teams. I work overnights and have been walking 30 mins and aiming for a 15 min. mile. The weather has been too cold to walk so i've starting the walk away the lbs 3 mile.

Hi sorry I haven't checked in in a bit, it's been crazy at work and trying to finish up everything for Christmas. Have gotten some GREAT walking in and today some kickboard swimming (talked about it in my blog). I'm a little behind on my quizzes but as soon as my presents are wrapped I'm catching up. I'm LOVING looking at my Vision Collage right by my front door. It's a real motivational tool for me! Something I need to do EVERY year.

Good morning all. . . .noticed some rain in the night but looks to be a lovely day going forward. . .45 right now but expected to drop to 39 in the next two hours then we're headed to a high of 53 with sunny skies.

Still working on my back and getting better every day – reduced my fitness program to simple walking the past few days and I think that has helped. Gonna add in aqua aerobics today – hoping a lil extra non-weight bearing stress will benefit my back. Still working on sinuses also.

MY BIG PLAN TODAY:
Continue with retrieving the house. . . gonna have all kinds of company next week so there’ll be no opportunity after Friday.

Good morning all. . . .another lovely sunny day here though the weather man predicts some cloud cover later today. Cold temps, though – 39 now with a high of only 62.

My back is better though not all healed – I can walk around pretty well but need to ‘watch the angles’. . .sitting, standing, bending, etc.

Sinuses are a bit set back cause I was loathe to take sinus meds while taking pain meds yesterday. . .I”ll take the sinus now then take the pain at the next “sinus dose” time switching off through the whole day.

MY BIG PLAN TODAY:
Has to be the house again. . . gonna have all kinds of company next week so there’ll be no opportunity after Friday.

Had a much better day today. Got my walking in. Know how Leslie calls it Walk Away the Pounds? Today I called it Walk Away the World to a coworker I saw at the gym. It was awesome. I forget how much I love walking and escaping! Can't wait til May when I can walk to work. 4 miles there. I'll be on m-f 9-5 for 2 months. That will be awesome to walk some days and ride bike some days. Now to get my body ready for it. One day training done!!!! Made a huge pot of Texmex soup with ground turkey and lots if beans and rotel. Yummy.

I had a wonderful walk on the beach today. It was so nice...63* and very foggy.

The Chanukah celebration at synagogue was magnificent. One of my sons choreographed a ballet he called "Light," chose the scriptures and three readers, and danced the ballet as a solo piece. It was very, very moving. Another son co-choreographed a ballet and a worship dance with a good friend. One piece he and his friend did together, the other was danced by six dancers from the Sh'reet dance team at synagogue. My sons aren't children, in case I gave that impression. The son I mentioned first is 23, the other is 28.

On to work on today's challenge.

Good morning, good morning. . . feeling better today! Gonna continue taking sinus meds to be sure there's no 'bounce back' but def better!

Procured last Christmas gift to replace the 'smoking hole in the ground gift' so shopping is done. Spent last hafl of yesterday cruising a new Outlet Mall...and buying stuff....then dinner watching the madding crowd followed by an after-dinner Amaretto relaxing at home - lovely evening!

There is some prep with a couple of the gifts - batt charging, etc. - so still some wrapping to do. . but, otherwise, we're done! emoticon

LaurieJG -- so how wonderful was it to watch your children in their performance?! Looking forward to pics.....

Today is about installing a 'TV stand' in the gym so TV can been seen from everywhere in the room. . .prepping house for company. . .checking outdoor lights after recent storms. . .the time spent with hubby will be the best part of the day. . .

LaurieJG -- Oh, how fun. . .lovely to watch your children in their endeavors. . .do post pics, if you don't mind 8-))

We are fortunate to be not so crazy this year - started shopping early and called an end to decorating last week - whether or not all decor is up. We did have one gift create a smoking hole in the ground so back to Stage 1 there and need a gift. Also, another son's life is taking a full 180 turn - can't wrap his gifts cause may need to return them. To top it off, our Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Breakfast plans aren't settled - though I've let everyone know I'll make final plans Sunday with or without their input.

Otherwise, we're pretty set - plan to head to an outdoor mall for dinner, eat on the patio and watch the madding crowd before strolling the mall ourselves to see the lights / decor then an after dinner drink on a patio to continue watching the madding crowd.

Same dinner plans tomorrow night and plan to repeat many times throughout the 12 Days of Christmas.

Hope you are doing better, Dolly.

Since I don't have Christmas, I don't find this time of year as crazy as most people do. Fridays are hard for me, though. Right now all I want to do is sleep.

Tomorrow night I get to see my sons dance! We are having a Chanukah program at synagogue, and my sons will be doing several dances. They choreographed individual dances, both ballet and modern. I can't wait for that!

I would really like to get to know more people in this group. REALLY!

Rough day yesterday. . .enjoyed bowling and even did very well the first two games. . .by third game was really tanking. . .

Ran necessary errands after then home - took sinus meds and that was that for several hours. . .up just in time for a planned dinner then back down.

MUST retrieve house today (just collection of daily living but getting out of control), wrap gifts and do laundry / ironing. Will be a little difficult fighting through the meds....

Gonna push for 10,000 steps today and plan 30 cardio mins @ Gym tonight. . hope I can hold out.

Working on my quizzes. . .headed over now to post such.

Left the house at 8:00 this morning -- Christmas gifts to mail, a new Aqua Zumba class (good stuff!!) and lunch, errands and social time with #1 Son -- and am returned a bit after 6:00. . .long, albeit good, day!

Well as I said in my blog I wanted to come home and do at least Leslie's 1 mile DVD and I'd be happy! Well, I did her Walk and Kick instead and it's 33 min or 2 miles. It felt good and I'm glad I did it. Stressful day today aqt work with my partners.

It all will get better! and better and better.

I ordered on Amazon Leslie's You Can Do Yoga, You Can Do Pilates and Billy Banks Tae-Bo Foundation and Energy. I wanna start incorporating yoga and stretching and her beginner stuff is great. I used to do Tae-Bo way back but got out of it. The tapes are shot so I wanted something a beginner could do again. After reading all the reviews, this one should be it! Yay!!!!

I'm glad you are working on the challenge. Do what you can. Nothing says you lose if you complete it after the first.

We're all busy. Today I took a walk. I walked through a part of town I' never gone to before. Saw some great archtecture, but most of it was businesses. I passed one area with a very, very strong smell, like nail polish. I had to get through that section in a hurry! Not good for the asthma!

When I came home from my walk I had writing to work on and send in for my class tomorrow. I really should have sent it in sooner. It's not cool to ask people to critique 7 pages overnight. emoticon

Now I have my three grandkids for much of the night. I emoticon love having them. We share a house. I bought a large Victorian house after my husband died. It had been converted into 3 apartments, but we keyed them all the same. My daughter, son-in-law, and their three kids live on the first floor. Two sons live in an "apartment" on the second floor, and another daughter lives with me. Our part of the house is on the second and third floors. My grandkids are 13, 7, and 5. We have a blast together.

After the kids go to bed tonight I'll do some dancing.

Appreciate the support, Laurie. I did get my quiz blogged yesterday but was using the laptop. . .my vision collage is on the desktop. . .

Just back from first Aqua Zumba class. . . LUVed it!! Got a lil headache from it, though. . .

Quick stop to shower / change, then meeting up with #1 Son for lunch / social / errands. . .will try to get my Vision Collage blog done before we head to gym tonight.

I wrote notes for my vision collage but haven't made the REAL copy yet. I'm on a 5 day stretch of days (5am to 5pm) and I do nothing after work but come home. I'm going to find some great pictures this week and print them out and Sunday I'm going to get a board and get it finished. This will be so awesome for me. I have several motivations pictures pinned in pinterest that I can print out and look at every day. I'm catching up this morning (at work I hope) on yesterday and todays goal. Sometimes I get behind on things with my schedule but will get back on track. Thanks again for getting all these started.

Sure, Dolly. The purpose of this is to understand things about ourselves that might hinder us reaching our goals. My concern is people completing the challenge and being able to reach goals. No problem with doing it tomorrow. I know this is a busy time of year.

Much to do today. I've already gone to the grocery store emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon and since I passed by synagogue on my way home, stopped to pick fresh bay leaves. Two years ago I planted a herb garden in front of the synagogue, and it is lovely and productive. Lots of congregation members use the herbs, and one encouraging day I saw a woman with cancer just standing in the middle of the garden breathing the scents of the herbs. emoticon

I've done my quiz. I will blog about the results later.

I've got a lot of writing to do on my book for critique in my writing class--probably a few hours' worth. And I'm getting ready to go for a walk. It's in the lower 50s and cloudy, a really nice fall day. emoticon

I think when I get back I will make a pot of chile. I cook without mixes or cans of stuff. Before I leave I will put the beans and water in the crock pot. When I get back I will put the onions, garlic, tomatoes, etc. in the food processor to chop (it's so quick!) and add seasonings. Everyone salts their own food. We seem to take in much less sodium doing it that way. I had 2 coupons for Campbell's new all natural soup and thought maybe I'd try it, but darn, one serving had 650 mg of sodium! I left the coupons there for people who don't need to watch how much sodium they take in. You know--those ultra-healthy people who never had their blood pressure go up a point, even it they were arguing with someone! emoticon I don't argue or fight, but I do stress (actually, I have a lot, lot, LOT of anxiety--one reason I have a therapist). emoticon

All - My neighbor’s wife, a dear friend, was whisked to the hospital yesterday with chest pains. . .stayed overnight but we’re hoping she’ll return home today. . fingers crossed!! Please keep her and her husband - he's just lost without her - in your thoughts.

I just remembered yesterday that I haven’t yet sent out Christmas cards--yikes!!!!

So today’s big effort is to mail two packages (first, need to get joke cards, wrap and package) then pull and print my mailing list for cards.

Then, some grocery shopping – hubby is SO concerned we’re gonna miss a sale on some particular kind of ribs. . . I’m clearly not the meat person in the house emoticon -luckily, he wrote down the specific thing I'm to pick up. . .

Hi Dolly and Tina,

A vision collage is described through a link on your Sparkpoints page, down toward the bottom. I did mine with my end goals in mind. I think it would be most beneficial to do it as goals at least through next year, but you can do it however you think it would benefit you best.

In my collage I included quotes that are important to me and some pictures. I will put it on my blog, so when you see it listed in the Huddle and Blogs stream on the team page, you can check it out.

I'll try to do that within the hour.

Even if you are the only two to do this with me, I am excited! It's not a silly exercise--we will be more focused coming into the New Year, we will know each other well, and we will be able to cheer each other on as we tackle new goals and fix problem areas.

Tina--Where are you that it's -9 . . .if you don't mind saying. Just finished cleaning up dinner - while it was making in the Nu-Wave, I traipsed all over the neighborhood light-looking and getting in the last of my 10,000 steps. It was just comfortably cool - 54 degrees right now.

Laurie--My keyboard was giving me grief the past two days with keys sticking and therefore not working. I pulled the offending keys, cleaned out the base of the key and the space into which it sits then returned the keys to the board. It took a little shaking and patience but now they've all settled back into place and it's working fine. Don't know if that will help. . .

It's time to start my evening 'settling in' routine so I'll sign off and chat at'ya tomorrow! emoticon

Wow, what extremes in weather between the two of you! It was 70 here today, definitely not normal, but I love it

Thank you both for your understanding. The bronchitis I'm used to. Because of the asthma, I get this every year, and yes--it's a long, long healing process.

I just got back from a Channukah not-party. It was an informal dinner with wonderful people and scripture, singing, and discussion.

I'm having terrible problems with my keyboard, so I'm going to cut this short and see if I can figure out a fix for this. I can't live without my keyboard emoticon

So sorry to hear of your problems Laurie, you are doing great at getting back at it. I too have had a relationship fail just recent and I really didn't deal well with it, became super lazy and ate pure crap and lots of it. Yesterday (Saturday) after talking to a friend in TX that I've been friends with over 40 years, she made me see I need to deal with the grief in a positive way, so I got up and did a Hip Hop Abs DVD and felt great after! I need to put my energies into exercising, organizing my house and eating for fuel! I'm hoping to blog on here and help me with accountability and support.

Good luck and keep up the good work, you've put a shot of new inspiration into the group!

Good day, Good day, Good day - it's 64 and we're headed up to 68 with sunny skies. . .ACTUAL Fall temps if not Fall skies!! Should try to fit in some outdoor work.

Today's big chore was to inventory Christmas gifts, decide what's missing, fill those holes and get it all wrapped and under the tree. In pretty good shape except for #2 Child / #2 Son - his gift just made a smoling hole in the ground so we're back to square one. . .

Time to break both mentally and physically then I'll hit it wrapping gifts and making dinner. Excited about dinner - gonna use my birthday Nu-Wave to roast a half chicken. . .LUV the Nu-Wave!!

Yesterday, got my outdoor lighted wire trees decorated yestersday - look so warm and inviting. Still need to 'candy-cane' the pillars and get the poinsettias in place. Thinking I'll wrap some boxes and set them around the Poinsettia Sleigh and string some lights above so it's visible at night. . . hmmm. . .will I EVER stop?!?

So sorry to hear of the issues you've been dealing with. . .I'm very familiar with the progression to bronchitis - I usually start with sinus congestion which progresses to infection, then bronchitis and commonly all the way to pneumonia.

I'm afraid the coughing and wheezing will likely stick for a bit. It's good you feel well enough to 'get started' again - do take care not to over-do it and put yourself back in your healing.

Looking forward to reading about everyone's day today - hope its safe, successful and fun 8-))

For me, since taking over leadership (a big FAIL) of this team, I have had an amazingly difficult time. Financial, relationship, and other problems have seemingly tried to kill any desire I've had for anything. Because of my asthma, the chest cold I had became bronchitis, and I am still coughing and wheezing. But nothing keeps me down forever, and I am ready to step up here and do the job of encouraging and being consistent in my activity with this team, the job a leader is supposed to do. Let's talk, people.

We've all been slack at posting to the Daily Chat. I would love to see everyone participating. checking in is good, but getting to know each other and responding to others' posts is better. As we build relationships with people who are working toward the same goal, asking questions or encouraging each other, we have a much better chance of success in our goals.
