For the last 2 weeks of February:

February walking goals:
1. Walk more than 3500 steps 3 out of 7 days.
2. Average 3,080 steps per day. (10% higher than January)

Goal #1 - Made goal.
Walked more than 3,500 steps 3 days (in week 3) and 4 days (in week 4)

Goal #2 - Made goal.
3,653 steps per day for the last 2 weeks of the month.

I'll use the same goals for March. With this exception. I'm going on vacation until March 8, so I'll start after that. Don't know what my days will hold, and, I don't want to commit to something that I may not wish to follow through on. Maybe, in April, I'll increase them.

February walking goals:

1. Walk more than 3500 steps 3 out of 7 days.
Actually walked 10,108 steps on Sunday. I haven't done that since 2006, prior to my fatigue and stamina issues. I can only walk 20 minutes at a time before I am DONE! But, on Sunday, my husband went to the Rec Center to play volleyball, so I went along to walk laps. I'd already discovered that, if I walk only 10-12 minutes at a time, I'm not exhausted. So, I did that 4x, over the course of two hours, for a total of 43 minutes and about 8200 steps. I was excited about that number, and, in the evening, walked the other 1900 steps in short spurts during 3-minute commercial breaks while watching TV.

Monday, I walked 1,974 steps.

2. Average 3,080 steps per day. (That's 10% higher than my baseline, in January.)
Shouldn't be a problem this week, with my high Sunday.

This is proving to be more difficult then I thought it would be! I guess when your body is so used to junk you think you need it. I am not giving up tho! I am determined to kick this awful habit! So far I haven't had any sweets and I have been replacing the temptation with a piece of fruit.

Hope everyone else is doing well with their challenges! emoticon

About small amounts of dark chocolate. Yeah. A "serving size" of dark chocolate is 5 pieces, and, I only eat one piece. Occasionally, I'll have a second piece, later in the day, but, IMO, that's still a small amount.

And, it helps me not to feel deprived, so I'm not tempted to fall "off the (diet) wagon". Very occasionally, if I have some extra calories available at the end of the day, I'll sprinkle the almonds/dark chocolate on a SMALL (1/4 cup) serving of ice cream.

Yes; thanks, Rass, for starting this thread. Looks like we can all use it to set our own goals that cater to our own needs. We should keep this thread going, and follow up with each other. :-)

Way to go Faith! That's awesome! Your oatmeal with almonds and dark chocolate sounds delicious! What a great idea...I have heard that dark chocolate has healthy benefits for you in small amounts.

I find that any challenges that I give myself or participate in helps me stay on the path to weight loss. I have such a huge problem with sweets. I have done this before with pop and I rarely have pop anymore. So I am hoping to accomplish that with sweets...not totally forbidden but a special treat.

I consider chips, candy, cakes, cookies etc to be junk food. This could also include fast food and processed foods. I am not going that far with it...at least not this week. I am just omitting candy, chips, cookies, cake etc.

WTG, Rass.

Sweets aren't a big problem for me. I usually eat a piece of dark chocolate every day, because I believe it's a healthy addition to my diet. I put it in a food grinder with 6 almonds, and sprinkle them on my morning oatmeal (1/4 cups), with 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries. Yum! But, I don't eat many other sweets.

However, I like your idea of setting a challenge for yourself. I'll post my February walking challenge here. I have fatigue and stamina issues, related to my multiple sclerosis. So, my walking goals may appear minuscule to others.

February walking goals:
1. Walk more than 3500 steps 3 out of 7 days.
2. Average 3,080 steps per day. (That's 10% higher than my baseline, in January.

I have some additional exercise goals, too. But, they are also not very excessive. For January, my only goal was to record what I was already doing. So that I could establish a baseline and increase. I've been working my SparkPeople program since July (this time). But, mostly from a food perspective. Didn't start concentrating much on exercise until the beginning of the year. And, I'm trying to set real reasonable goals, so they are attainable and I don't just give up and throw in the towel.

I absolutely LOVE the daily and weekly challenges on this team...however because I have a TERRIBLE times with sweets and junk food, I am challenging myself to NO sweets/junk food at all this week! I know that this is where the majority of my calories comes from...so hopefully this will help with my weight loss as well!

Anyone going to join me?
