I know exactly what you mean about the pedometer. I found out i was wearing mine. Now I track the time/ speed and miles. I also count how many steps I take in a minute and use that to average my steps by how long I walk.

I have never had any luck with pedometers. They don't track my steps accurately so I don't use them. The only walking I track is when I go outside and walk with my dog and I map my routes and go from there.

The best way is to get a heart rate monitor to calculate your calories. Other than that, a common consensus has been to count Leslie Sansone's dvds as low impact aerobics since they are more than just walking with the arm movements and the various leg movements.
