Nehi --

If you go back and read my previous posts, my local Walmart carries inexpensive, inaccurate pedometers (about $7) in the sporting goods department, and good quality OMRON brand (about $20) in the pharmacy department, near the blood pressure monitors.

Nehi - I've not specifically looked at my WalMart here, but I would imagine they would have them in the sporting goods section if they have them. Other sporting goods type stores would probably have them also - Sports Authority, Dicks Sporting Goods, any type of store that sells running shoes, running apparel, etc.

I just found 2 of my pedometers in my "stuff" yesterday (which I accidentally packed in to storage when I moved in with my BF, and was too lazy to look for alone, too cheap to buy another one) when I was looking for something else. I have a Sportline 350 and Sportline 342 (which needs a new battery). I have had both so long that I don't know where I got them or how much they cost. I will say that I like the 350 more.

I have the OMRON HJ-105 - it was only about $15 at REI. My favorite was the Accusplit Eagle 170, but they don't make them anymore.

I agree with many of the posts, I like the omron

look for them on amazon and drugstore.com where they are often on sale or have value added deals with purchase

I'm an Omron person. I have used a HJ-112 and now have a 720. I love the ability to download my information. The software will give your information hourly, weekly, yearly, etc. It is nice when I get busy and don't remember to write down my steps.

If I was a night person, I'd just change the clock to turn over during my sleep time. Otherwise, it all adds up in the end,so it doesn't bother me.

OMRON also gives miles, steps, steps per mile and time, Not sure if it gives MPH. In addition, it vies aerobic miles, which it defines as walking for 10 minutes or more at a time.

My favorite pedometer cost just over $30. It is the Sportline 360 model.

I have used it for several years. On my second one after dropping and breaking the first one. Needless to say, I have a GUARD on my current one.

I tried the Omrom, and HATED IT. I work nights, and it turns over at midnight, while my Sportline runs till I reset it myself.

It gives Miles, MPH, steps, steps per mile and TIME. The time runs only when you are moving.

I personally love it myself!!!!!

No, never tried that one.

I compared them online. It looks like the main differences are:

-price (about $60)
-keeps 42 days in memory (instead of displaying only 7 days)
-comes with Omron Health Management Software

OMRON HJ-112 brand. I used to get cheap ones at Walmart ($7.00?), in the sporting goods section, but they weren't accurate.

This one, I also got at Walmart, but near the parmacy dept. where they sell blood pressure monitors. About $20.00, I think. Have had it for years.

The jewelry dept. can replace batteries when they wear out, but their batteries don't seem to last long. My DH replaces my batteries with ones he uses for computers, or something. Lasts much longer.

Google Omron HJ-112 manual for a link to their manual. Tried to post link, but the copy/paste wouldn't work.

I use the one on my cell phone. That way I have the cell if I fall or get lost and I track my steps at the same time.

Can anyone suggest a decent (but inexpensive)pedometer?

I have a couple pedometers but they are the really cheap ones.

At one time I had 3 pedometers. I put them on different areas of my pants one day to see the most accurate spot. I got 3 different amounts that had vast range between amount.

Please advise!!!!
