I'm always amazed too that small changes add up. I didn't think I would be able to give up drinking soda every day, or stop eating fast food every day but I made gradual changes and it worked.

I love iced coffee too, and a long long time ago I used to always get it with extra cream. When I wanted to lose weigh, I started with small changes. First I just had it with cream, not the "extra". Then I moved to milk. Then I went down to extra skim milk. And that's how I drink it now, and have done for years. I have learned to love it, and if I accidentally take a sip of coffee with cream, it taste gross to me and leaves my mouth feeling coated with grease.

My coffee with skim milk is getting in my dairy, and I can drink plenty of it and it's hardly any calories. I always tell people to try making the switch. Believe me, I never thought I would like it with skim milk, but eventually, I grew to love it!

I'm not sure what you consider a "big amount" of iced coffee but as a former coronary nurse it's something I caution against. All coffee, even decaffeinated, causes coronary artery constriction. There are actually a lot of nasty things in coffee. It does have some good qualities but most M.D.s I know recommend a cup or 2 at most a day. That is not a jug but 8 ounces. My M.D. urged me to give up my one cup of coffee a day and many of my medical conditions improved. I have learned to love ice water and decaffeinated tea.

It isn't counted as dairy or towards your dairy allowance really - just more of caloric expenditure. The 2 tbsp recommendation is serving size but from what I understand you may have more than one serving. Personally I am not a fan of Fat Free Half & Half because it has added sugar into it and prefer to use full fat.

You will find there is some leeway to make some personal lifestyle choices.

I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. Agatha Christie

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I thought I would just see. I love iced coffee, and drink a big amount. I love using fat free half and half, I know that the limit is 2 TBSP. I have been using 4 TBSP and have been considering it to be 2 servings of dairy, what do you think? Is the small amount allowed due to the sugars? I do feel a little jipped on dairy, however I love iced coffee enough to deal with it. Thanks in advance!
