Guess it's a pretty serious thing after all....I'd kinda hoped the primary care doc would say the reflexologist was a quack....no such luck. My doc is setting me up with a neurosurgeon for a consult and to begin treatment, which doc says will very likely be surgery, but I'm holding out hope that the neurosurgeon knows of a non-surgical treatment to try first.

As I just wrote in my blog my doc told me that basically this is like when a person stands up to find their leg asleep after sitting in one spot to long.....only normally the leg wakes up....for me though my leg won't wake up......if mine goes completely to sleep my leg will be what is refered to as a "dead limb" and can lead to loosing my leg.

FUZZY, thanks so much for letting us know what is going on with your and your knee.

And I'm glad you at least know now what the problem is. Now that you do know you can focus on what you really can and can't do with your exercise. which is a good thing:)

And your not alone when it come to the emotional eating thing, as long as you don't make a habit of doing it.

If you need to come here to vent I'm ALL EARS. I do check SP often so I'm a click away.
Please don't stop, your making huge progress with what you have done these past few days and believe me 15 days is well AWESOME! if I would have been doing what you have been doing I might have lose a few lbs.

Your my inspiration please know this. Keep us informed, and know that I'm here on SP if you need more support.

Well all, I wanted to let ya now that I might just have found out what's wrong with that left knee.

I went to a new chiropractor/reflexologist today. Upon his starting evaluation he was very suprised to find absolutely no reflex responce in my left knee. His exact comment was "that's not good, that's not good at all". He then explained it was caused by my lower back injury that needs surgery(which is why I've been trying hard to loose weight). He highly recommended I see my doctor and get in to see a neurosurgeon as soon as possible. So I will be seeing my doctor on friday to let him evaluate me also and help me pick out a neurosurgeon to go to if deemed neccessary.

I knew I'd eventually need back surgery. My doctor had told me I had to loose 50 pounds first though, unless my back got to the point we couldn't wait on surgery. From the sounds of it we might be to that point where we can't wait. I can't risk permanent nerve damage in my leg. I was told by the chiro/reflex guy that if your nerves are permanently damaged it can slowly make your muscles die/atrophy.

Well, until they tell me I can't exercise I plan to use my elliptical daily. I'm not going to do anymore walking as I can't risk having that leg go out from under me while walking and get stranded. I am frustrated and I did some emotional eating today but I got it under control after going about 200 calories over my ranges. I'm just not looking forward to giving up my exercising when I just made it to 15 days straight of exercising and almost a full week of journaling everything I put in my mouth. I'll do what I have to though.

Hope you all are doing ok.

This gazeller is back to exercising daily. I am also back to having pain in my left knee. I hate to admit it but I just might have to break down and go have the doctor check it out. That blasted elliptical machine gets to it after a couple days it seems.....so does the gazelle now too. I don't think I've torn anything in the knee. I mean I can go for my walks with no problem. So I think it's just the motion the machines cause that knee to do.

Other than that I'm staying busy. I do craft booths starting in September so I gotta get busy and get things made. This year I'm so focused on the weightloss and all that I can't seem to get into my crafts as much as I used to. I'm much rather be out doing something instead of sitting around creating something. That's one thing that exercise isn't helpful with, and that's making my crafts. I do thread crochet....doilies, bookmarks, etc. I also do embroidered tea towels and pot holders and such. And quilts, though I didn't do any quilts this year.

Hope ya'll are having a good summer.

It's cooling down here in Kansas now, since we've had some rain and still more rain to come. The farmers need the rain, and I need rain to water my veggies.

I've been back out walking the last 4 mornings in a row. I go out right at day break and have been walking a couple miles....the first day I did it in 45 minutes, the second day 36 minutes, the third day got cut short thanks to a neighborhood dog coming after me so I made up for the missed walking time with the gazelle/elliptical, and today I walked my route in 35 minutes. So every day I'm improving. The only bad part about this is that after my walk I'm normally energized and not ready for bed. That and the neighborhood dogs that are allowed to run loose all over town....some are mean....and one came after myself and my corgi's yesterday morning....I seriously thought we might get mauled....and my town won't do a thing about it because we're to small and can't afford to build a pound and pay a dog catcher.....arghhhhh.

All in all though it's a positive that I'm back on the wagon. Now to stay on it. 4 days and still going!!! woooohoooo

I guess we all do that sometimes. But, come on back & eat bigger portions of veggies & fruits!! Walk, like me, on the Gazelle. I was out with crafty friends yesterday - we all spin/knit/quilt/sew - we brought our spinning wheels & goodies to a mutual friend's patio. I ate the cherries & left the bread/dip alone. I brought baby carrots, green beans, snap peas & hummus. Better for me than potato salad & spinach dip, that's for sure!!!

I've fallen off the weightloss wagon. So far I'm not gaining any back but I feel horrible as I haven't exercised but a few times in the last month. AND while I'm not eating terrible things I have been eating bigger portions.

I have to get back on track. I'm proud of loosing 25 pounds so far, and can't wait to loose more. I just think I'm just bored with my workout routine. It doesn't help that it's been in the 100's outside so I haven't been able to get out and walk like I normally do.

Hope everyone else is staying on track.

I know, that's the thing about the Gazelle, you CAN do some things even when you're supposed to stay off your feet. I'm stretching & going slowly - this has been getting worse for some time but here in Canada, although we have coverage, you often have to wait to see specialists. The last time I saw this guy, I had inflamed my Achilles tendons by living in sandals & working on cement floors. I tried everything to make it better before I finally got to see him - he made me stay off my feet for 6 months, except for the Gazelle, & I had to wear special sneakers with a lift for a year!!! I'm back in the sneakers . . . .

I'm taking it easy since I've strained my ACL somehow. Didn't know anything about this ACL, just that it hurts, my knee feels like its going to collapse & I can't go up stairs! I'm doing stretching & walking slowly on the Gazelle trying to limber up. And, some mornings I make those old man noises getting out of bed . . .

No I'm not vegetarian. I eat meat hahaha.

I've been using kroger brand slim rite to make shakes of a morning and then eating a couple eggs or a sandwich for lunch and then whatever I want for supper. There's been a couple days of eating nothing but icecream but it's a protein right hahaha.

I was also walking everyday. Putting in 1 mile at least everyday, plus 7 to 14 minutes on the elliptical every other day. But I'd kinda fallen off the wagon there for a while....didn't exercise for about 3 weeks. I'm back to exercising though and still doing lots of yard work.

Hello again everyone! It's been a busy week as usual - to make a long story short, I'm working 6 days a week now plus trying to keep up with contract work piled up in my home office!! Laundry is an exercise project around here!! Plus we get 4 days of rain to every 1 day of sun & the river's overflowing it's banks . . . at least I live on the hill top! And somehow, I've injured my ACL. Wondered why my knee was so sore & wobbly - I have no idea what I've done but I did it a while ago. My walking these days is with a shopping cart - I've been going to the big box store & walking the aisles. Or, using my Gazelle at a slow walking pace. I'm hoping SOME exercise is better than NO exercise . . .

I've been keeping busy, and I must admit for almost 3 weeks I didn't exercise. The weird thing is I did loose weight during those weeks. I am now down 25 pounds according to my home scale.

I've got my container garden to keep on top of. I've got green tomatoes on my mater plants and 2 green peppers on the pepper plant, and I planted a second planting of carrots that are looking nice....though the rabbits got to some of them.

I also have 2 new rose bushes and a nw tree I planted and have to water daily. And a couple minature petunias on my porch. And my hanging baskets on the back porch. Speaking of porches I finished the brick patio extention a couple weeks ago and it looks nice. Now just to get some patio chairs so I can sit out there and enjoy it.

I'm trying a new supliment along with my exercising(which I started again this last monday). I'm doing rasphberry ketones. I've heard a lot about them and am hopng they help burn that belly fat as they're supposed to.

I got my diabetic shoes. My right foot still hurts on top sometimes but that's alright I'm not giving up.

I did have to give up walking outside of an evening though. The 90+ degree weather was to much for me.

Hope you all are doing well.

Congrats Fuzzy on being down 4 lbs. How cool is that?

I know what you mean brandtsgirl about toning more. I do toning every other day starting on Sunday. Monday - Wednesday - Friday I have been doing cardio with Saturday being a rest day. It seems to be working about pretty well.

I am headed off to work then after work is my doc appointment. I have to figure out where all of this stomach pain is coming from. I don't think it's scar tissue from the gall bladder surgery because I had the same pain before the surgery.

Have a great day everyone.. Donna

Wow.. sounds like you are a busy beaver... Don't put exercise on hold though if you can help it. Do something every day. Even with my feeling like crap right now I'm still getting some in daily. Hope everything is okay for you.. Donna

I had to take a few days off from exercising at the first of the week. My quad muscle on my left leg was pulling pretty tight and hurting no matter what I was doing. Ya know it needs rest when it hurts to sit or get up off the potty.

I'm back on track though now, just instead of flat out exercising I am including 20 to 30 minutes of stretches to keep that muscle from tightening up more and tearing.

I went for a 1 mile walk today.

Brandstgirl,

You have no idea how much you've helped me through this last month or so and I wanted to tell you I appreciate your support.

My thighs are burning today and I haven't exercised yet. I have trouble with the one being tighter than the other from years of limping. I still limp occassionally but only when I've been on my feet to much.....so now just have to keep stretching out that one. I'm not giving up though. I plan to get healthy no matter what.

Thanks. Actually, your just being there to vent to and get advice from helps, and the motivation and keeping me accountable you've done great with. This is my first major re-gain and it just kinda snuck up on me you could say.

I've made up for it though. 3/4 mile on the elliptical plus a walk tonight. Still want to get another 1/4 mile in on the elliptical yet.

I'm having trouble with my thigh muscle on my left leg is tighter than tight......I'm on here right now looking up ways to stretch it out.

FUZZY,
I know how you feel, really I do.

I seem to lose like 3 to 4 pounds only to gain them right back again.
Eating healthy as least for me is price, if you can pay what it takes to make and eat the food hurry!

Now how can I help you in your weight lose journey, some time all it takes is some one to be there not matter what so. So how can I or the Gazelle team help you in what your trying to do?

Well, it was bound to happen. I gained 7 pounds this week. So those last 6 pounds are now null and void. Time to put my nose back to the grind stone of exercising.

I had to go to town yesterday....meaning wichita, ks.....to see my cardiologist for a yearly check up. I made many plans to kill time between lunch with friends and my appointment. Wouldn't ya know that the lunch with friends is the only thing that went the way it was supposed to.

One of the places I went had changed their days and was no longer open on Mondays....well darn. I really wanted to find some new shorts and tops to exercise in.

Another place I went to for the first time ever just to browse. I ended up accidentally knocking a decorative glass thingy off a shelf behind me....ouch a costly mistake.

Then I went to go to the doctor appointment....ummmm no way still 2 hours early. So I go to walgreens to get a puzzle book ... they didn't have the kind I like so got a book to read instead. And as I'm walking by I see pints of icecream, and then omg they have strawberry cheesecake icecream, and well you can guess what happened.....I bought it and a package of plastic spoons and the book.

Then of course sat in the parking lot at the doctor's office and slowly enjoyed the whole pint of icecream. At least I made it last about an hour. Then went in to the doctor, still an hour early, took almost 2 hours to see the doctor.....everything is fine but he wants me to come back for an updated echo, says my heart sounds a bit tired.....no kidding by that time I WAS tired.....after all I was up at 5am and it was now almost 5pm.....I needed a nap.

From there I went to pick up a pre-order for my dad at dillons.....they didn't have it.....infact tried to tell me there wasn't such an order.....yeah right my dad just made it the afternoon before and had the slip for it. So I ended up having to do all that shopping for him.

I tell ya it was a day of wishing I coulda just stayed home in bed. Only good part.....all that walking was good exercise. I was so tired I got home sat down to watch some tv while the dogs played and I finally woke up this afternoon. I sure am glad those days don't come very often....they'd end up killing me hahaha.

DGFOWLER, I did go over the team goals and I had not even joined from my end, my BAD I've joined then ALL. And once i did the percentage went from 2 % to 10...so it all depends on who on the team is really doing them and has signed up for them.

So I'm going to put a ANNOUNCEMENT on the team so ALL who do come to it see and maybe make a note of it.

DGFowler, opps I've been a bad girl. I haven't joined any of the group goals yet. I'm terrible at logging my exercise on here since I keep it written on the calander on my wall I just forget to log it here sometimes. I better go join a goal or two so it helps the team percentages.

How are the fitness winners for the week decided? Could you please check and see if I had the Team Goals set up correctly? If we are tracking what we are doing they don't appear to be moving very well. 2% is not a very high amount if most of us are doing 15 - 85 min a day. Thank you... Donna

LOL, The Double Trouble Duo, is what I call my two corgi's. They are such energetic dogs. And they're always getting into something together. I started telling them they had that double trouble look in their eyes and now it's become their nickname. They love to try to tree the squirrels in the yard, and neither of them knows a stranger.

I have my female, Miss Molly Mae, spayed, about 4 yrs old if I remember right. She can teach fire safety as she doesn't do sit, down, roll....she does stop, drop, roll instead. And she's a talker thanks to my sister-in-law teaching her to speak as a puppy.

Then there's my male, Ranger or Ranger Danger as I call him, neutered, almost 2 yr old. I just rescued him back in December. His christmas present was to be neutered lmao. I got him from some people that were keeping him in a tiny 3ft by 3ft stall in a goat barn. To my way of thinking that's herding dog torture for sure. And also found after I took him home his collar was on so tight it had to be cut off.

I got lucky when I got my male, he turned out to be the same size as my female. Normally male corgi's are about 30 pounds and females about 25, but both of mine are a bit small and weigh in at 22 pounds.

So that's my "Double Trouble Duo". I have pictures of them on my profile.

Well I did what I said I would. I used my elliptical at 1am. I did 24 minutes worth on there for a total of 3/4 mile.

Then of course I went to work....night time jobs are nice when it's hot out.....like now when we're reaching the 90's already during the day.....yikes so not typical of this time of year.....I want my 70's and 80's back please.

I got home and stuck a roast with onions in the crock pot to keep me from turning on the oven later when it's supposed to be 92 degrees today. I also boiled some eggs and fixed me some malt-o-meal. Did all this while it was still cool outside so the house had time to cool back down some.

Once it was just barely daylight I hooked "Double Trouble Duo" to the leashes and headed out for a walk. I walked about 14 blocks today...took a different route than yesterday which ended up being shorter but had more inclines and such. I enjoyed the walk, the pups however were starting to wear out about 4 blocks from home. First time I've had to encourage them to keep going lol. On the way home though I stumbled and twisted my left ankle a bit. Nothing to bad, I was able to keep walking but will have to be careful with it the rest of the day...and maybe take a break from exercise tomorrow just to be safe.

Happy Sparking this weekend ya'll.

Well this morning I exercised before bed and actually wasn't hungry afterwards and fell right to sleep. Normally though I exercise about 1am and don't go to bed til about 6am. Now that it's warmer out I've been staying awake til about 10am before going to bed though so started taking the dogs for a 6 or 7 am walk. And occassionally I throw in a second workout after waking up for the day or between lunch and supper.

Yeah, I don't seem to eat enough calories most of the time. Eight times out of ten I barely hit 1000 calories a day. But since I've been paying attention to what I eat I've been doing better at having my meals and then a protein inbetween meals. It's an adjustment for sure but I'm slowly getting better at it.

FUZZY, do you exercise just before bed....cause if you do,after exercising your metabolism is up for at least 4 hours after you work out. And if your not eating enough calories for your body might be talking to you.

I can't even go for a walk after 3pm cause it raises my heart rate up and I can't sleep for 3 to 4 hours after words.

While most are starting their days about now, I'm just ending my Thursday, and I just took the pups for a walk. We walked about 16 blocks(that's if I'm counting right as I re-walk it in my head). Both my corgi's(known as the Double Trouble Duo) and I are worn out and ready for bed.

I'm heading over to write a new blog with pictures of my container veggie garden for ya'll. Then it's off to bed for me before I decide I'm hungry and eat something I shouldn't. Don't know why but I'm ALWAYS hungry after exercising.

I have been SO busy the last few days I barely had time to blink.. I managed to get some walking in yesterday but didn't get any gazelle time for a few days. I've got a quieter day planned for today and know there's time to do it so I'll be on the Gazelle today and trying my crocks on there instead of tennis shoes as well! emoticon

Finally, I get my diabetic/planter faciitis shoes tomorrow. It only took 2 months of paperwork and red tape to get them.

With the storms last night I used the gazelle instead of the elliptical, didn't want to plug in the elliptical with the lightening going on. I was amazed how much easier the gazelle felt to me compared to the elliptical, I was able to do a whole mile in 10 minutes on the gazelle without slowing down....but of course then my feet were hurting so stopped for 2 minutes(I timed it) to let my feet adjust and then did another mile then took another 2 minutes and did a third mile. Something about the gazelle makes my feet hurt, as they haven't hurt once on the elliptical.

Oh add me to the gazelling in house shoes club. My feet don't hurt near as bad when I do it in house shoes or barefooted.
