Hello and good morning.

I slept a bit late so I gotta type fast.

Dance class was good, and a good workout. Yesterday though, I was exhausted so did nothing. Today I am going to watch The Jets play the Panthers, so I think I won't have time to run. We shall see. But probably not.

Hope you are having a good day.

Carol- sorry about MIL and hospital visits- medical systems are bad all around it seems.

Rich- autumn....oh I wish winter would go away!! Too much snow!

Glenda

Hmm...if I could be doing anything else right now, I'd be crossfitting.

MIL having BP issues again - DH spent 5 hours with her in the ER before she was even seen - cannot say enough bad things about our health system sometimes! She's stable again now - will be really glad when her doctor comes back from vacation and she doesn't have to wait until stuff is urgent. Of course, if she'd gone somewhere when she first felt bad she wouldn't have been in the ER at midnight... she is one stubborn lady! (Scared too, I think, but still!)

Did my PT at lunch, also about 10 minutes of yoga stretches... supposed to run tonight - but if the freezing rain they are predicting comes along, I'll be heading home for the treadmill instead of out with the group!

Rich - I love seeing the scale hit those landmarks! I was briefly in the 130's this month after the flu... Now I have to get back down there "for real"

Glenda - so do you have a pointy toe shoe instead of a boot? That class/rehearsal sounds
like it would substitute for a run in the cosmic accounting of exercise performed in a week.

Rich- Congrats- you're so close!!

Carol- you travel so much, I'm impressed at how much running you are able to get while away on vacation.

I may need a bit of a pointy boot. Luckily tonight is Ballet class and we are getting ready for our recital this weekend so I believe we will be running our number over and over so it will be a good cardio class. The weather was a lot nice finally again today. I think I will try for a run tomorrow. I can still save the week if I run tomorrow!!!

4 on the TM last night - as usual harder because it was 2nd of 2 days in a row. I only run 4x a week, so the two back-to-back runs always feel harder. Rest day today (only PT/Core).

Already making lists for going to Ohio this weekend to see DD. Crossing my fingers DH doesn't come down with my flu around this trip! Have to do a 10-miler while we are there (fall-back week - really never believed 10 would ever seem like a "short" "Long-Run").

Glenda - do you need Rich's pointy boot to get you tracking again? I gave up while I was on vacation/sick, but started back now. I'm sure you'll get into a good routine when you finish your rotation and land your real job.

Rich - you are being so consistent - I'm impressed.

Working evenings was not very good for me. I have only worked out (a run) one time since then. Plus I guess, the snow storm that we have gotten this past week doesn't help either. I also have eating a bit too much I believe. I haven't been recording my food and I think I put back on the weight I had lost. I don't know how that happens so fast. Yikes.

Carol- sorry about your trip and getting the flu. That is sad. Glad your on the mend.

Rich- Keep up the good work. You are doing so good with weight loss and all your exercise.

I work a late shift today (late is 8:30) so I got to sleep in a bit. I was dreaming about riding my bike. Maybe I should see if there is somewhere to park it safely at work when the snow goes away. That would be good exercise again.

Alright- off to work, have a great day everyone.

Yep intervals on TM are good - have control over the pace etc - even if its out of calibration at least it is what it is...

Rainy Monday here - started off with PT for my back - don't have to come back for 3 weeks now... and I have a halfway decent core routine set up for my non-running days (well, they think I'm doing it 2x a day, but ain't going to happen!)

Rich - I like doing intervals on the TM - even my steady runs are usually "progressive" with slight speed increases every 1/2 mile until I hit my target cruising pace. Good job on a Monday morning.

4 on the TM this morning. Almost back to normal - regained a few of the lost pounds, but my appetite is still off a bit.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Looks like everyone is doing well - Bekka - nice to hear from you! Wise words, Rich...

NYC was great until the flu bug hit. Ran Tuesday morning and just felt a bit tired - then spent the rest of the day in the bathroom... ugh... Not how a vacation get-away should go. Dragged myself back on the plane on Wednesday and spent Thursday resting on the couch (fending off anxious dogs... what is she doing home? why won't she play?) Back at work today but feeling pretty low-energy.

Got on the scale yesterday - flu took off 8 pounds in 48 hours... no wonder I was feeling light-headed! On pace to be back to normal in a few more days - gotta re-figure my training schedule now, as there is NO WAY I'm running 16 tomorrow!

Hey Bekka so glad you are checking in and as for keeping you going I am just being a mate!

Happy birthday Bekka I will be hiking Sat and Sun so may not be checking in.

One thing is for sure we go through times where it's easy to stay focused and in routine and times where it's harder. Life as they say can get in the way of the best intentions the important thing I reckon is to recognize this fact and do our best to work with it and to maintain healthy choices as much as possible.like accepting that u just don't have time to get to the. Gym but you can walk somewhere instead of driving or taking the bus or train etc.

My two cents worth

Rich, I'm here!! I so need to send you compensation of some sort for being my personal butt-kicker. You've been keeping me going lately.

I have the week off from work and my little guy is sleeping...so i'm here sparking!

I haven't been running or working out much lately. Prepping my house to go on the market and dealing with my mini-health crisis, i sort of lost my way (fitness-wise). There's only so many hours in the day.

Saturday is my birthday so i'm going to run in the morning, eat whatever i feel like, then weigh in on Sunday, reset my ticker, and make a meal plan & workout plan for the week. Reset button gets pushed on Sunday.

Today i'm going to do a Supreme 90 Full Body workout--it's like P90X (which i have and love) but is shorter, suits my schedule better. Maybe a walk later with the jog stroller.

How's everyone's Thursday???

Hello
I am off again today- yeah. I procrastinated very good, went and bought a new pair of shoes for work and finally worked out to a video. No run, it's all snowy and blowy. Hopefully tomorrow I can brave the weather and get out for a short run.

I have dance tonight, only 3 more rehersals until our recital- AHHh!!

And only 20 more shifts until I'm a grad Nurse!!!

Rich/Kimmie- I have a garmin, I love it! I use it all the time. I got the one that has a foot pod though, and not gps. I can use it indoors this way and I find if I know a distance I can calculate the difference in a % and re-calibrate the pod whenever I need to so it's good. It has a heart rate monitor too, so sometimes when I am doing a workout video or dance, I can put it on and see how many calories I'm burning. Plus mine also has a little plug for the computer and it wirelessly transfers my data to a website so I can see my runs and workouts for the past 2 years. I lOve it!!

Alright- busy night so I should go.

Glenda

Hmm...if I could be doing anything else right now, I'd be crossfitting.

Hello-

Rich- Happy Belated birthday- sorry I was late.

Carol- hope you're having fun in NY

I woke up yesterday with a sore back/rib. I think I somehow overstretched something and so I was in pain. Today it's almost better, but that meant no running.

I feel so lazy, 2 days of rest again. Tomorrow....I will get off my bum! I am working evenings this week so I have lots of time during the day to workout.

Happy Birthday Rich! Hope your day is great! With all the running gifts, it will have to be! I'm in NYC - ran 6.5 in Central park this morning - hilly (I always forget the hills) but in the mid 40's and sunny! Great zen run - no timer to make me worry about my pace, just lots of other people out running.

Carol- sorry about your MIL, hope everything gets solved quickly and you can have a good time on your trip, not worrying about her. And congrats again on the new pr distance!

I got a run in today, 3 miles. I had sort of rested for 3 days- and Carol, you said when I got to 3 that was getting to be too much, so I couldn't rest another day! I also today realized my garmin is out for distance. I have one with a footpod, not a gps. I can calibrate it to the distance that I actually ran by doing some fancy math, but so I guess my past few runs have been a bit farther than I realized. It made me feel better though, turns out I've been running average of 10:45 min/mile, not over 11:30! Woo hoo. Faster than I knew.

Strange day today - just beginning my run and MIL called (she couldn't reach DH) 'cause she was feeling ill. I got ahold of DH and he went and took her to the ER (told me to go ahead with the run, but I still felt guilty). They are keeping her overnight - seems her blood pressure had spiked, but they couldn't find anything obviously wrong... Guessing some of her meds are out of balance. Worried about it the whole run and felt guilty, but by the time I finished SIL was there also and they said don't come, you'll just be sitting and waiting in the ER...

In spite of the worry, my running partner and I did great - wasn't sure I'd like running long with a partner, but we have very compatible running styles, and she was really nice about the interruptions. Aimed for 14, but misjudged and ended up doing a bit over 15 - so I have a new distance PR - 15.31...

Last news on MIL is that she's resting comfortably, wants to go home, but wil be seen by a neurologist tomorrow. We are still planning to go to NYC, as SIL will stay with her until she is at home and stable - I'm sure we'll be calling constantly. These things always do happen at the most inconvenient times! (Can you tell I'm still feeling guilty?)

Kimmie - way to go on the 9+!!!

Rich - you're going to LOVE your Garmin! Congrats!

Glenda - Congrats on the Jets tickets! I remember when I first moved to Buffalo the Sabres were entirely sold out with season tickets - there was NO way you could go to a game unless you bought a ticket from a season ticket holder. Have a blast!

Hello- It's the weekend! And a long weekend here, actually extra long for me, I don't work until wednesday at 3:15 Yahoo!

Carol-your trip sounds fun. Hope you have a good time- and fun running in central park.

Kimmie- good run. Keep it up.

Rich- Yeah to garmin's! I like mine a lot.

I am excited- I got an email on thursday that I had won a draw in order to purchase Winnipeg Jets hockey tickets- I know this sounds weird. But you see, there are so few tickets available and the games are completely sold out all the time, so they have a draw each month to be able to purchase 2 tickets only, to 1 game for the next month, well I won. Then, to top it off, My mom and step dad had put their names in for me, so I won twice! So at 10am today, I can purchase tickets, 2 to 2 games. yeah.I"m gonna wear my jersey- it will be great.

Ran 9.3 miles today, I felt like Wonder Woman when I first got back, but now my thighs are really mad at me, lol. I was really winding down towards the end but then the song from Rocky came on and I was (slightly) recharged.
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday!

Rest day yesterday - dinner out, but I actually managed to stay within calories for the day. I can see my average calories are still a little too high though... probably won't be able to take action on that until I get back from NYC next week. Long run tomorrow, then we fly out on Sunday. I'm already figuring out what to pack for my run in Central Park and dinner out every night!

Dee - have a great trip! Can't wait to hear about your run.

Rich - isn't it amazing what a rest day can do when you really need one?

Hey Glenda - counting down.... bet you can't wait to be done with your program. Have a great weekend.

Ran with FF last night. My buddy started out anxious to do 7-8 miles of hills, but she's recovering from a respiratory infection and we ended up doing just over 6 on the flat. We were adding laps around a parking lot to get to 6, which was my minimum target for the night. I'd say "one more?" and she'd say "sure", then the next lap she'd say "one more?" and I'd say "sure"... finally she said - "well, that's why we run well together well - one of us says 'one more?' and the other one always says 'sure!' She normally trains with a different group on Saturday, but they are all doing other things this weekend so we are going to try our 14-miler together.... see how that goes - I've always done my long runs alone.

Rich - smart to be conservative if the knee is tweaking - you are on such a good roll right now that you don't want to get derailed!

Glenda - rest days are very important! Never feel guilty unless you get 2-3 in a row...

Goodmorning-
I missed checking in yesterday. I was up late at my dance class, she kept us over and then the Jets game had just gotten out so I was kinda stuck in that traffic. I didn't get home until 10:30 and bed at 10:45, which is VERY late for me. So I slept late yesterday and then didn't check in.

I had a good day yesterday except for the box of chocolates I ate--- gah! today is a new day, and I will be better. I didn't exercise, I needed a rest day.

So far I did my 20 mins of yoga this morning, and as long as it's not snowing later I am planning to run. At least ...2-2.5 miles.I am trying to find a 10km training program I like- Oh I registered for some races. The 3 km's for 3 sundays in a row in april, and a 10km in the beginning of May. So, I am now training for the 10km, which I have about 12 weeks for. I only want to run about 3 times a week for awhile though- I get shin splints if I go too much to soon. So, I think I found a ok program, but we'll see.

Carol- I really like your idea of running to "pay" for your races and shoes etc. I should start something like that so I don't spend everything I make once I start making money.

Dee- That is a really good quote about not qualifying for boston. Sounds like it will be a hard race. Take pictures!!

Rich- probably a smart idea with not running- it's annoying those injuries that happen when you're just not paying attention- that is how I always injure myself. Some way that was preventable.

Alright- to work, only 2 more days this week- then I only have 4 weeks left!! crazy.

Glenda

Hmm...if I could be doing anything else right now, I'd be crossfitting.

Carol, so sorry about the nagging back pain! Was hoping it would settle by now.... As for beach run..... I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME CHEWING IT UP! Thanks! ;) Glad your mileage/money is piling up! Good plan!

Glenda, yep entire run on the sand! The most recent email said, "Boston? Don't worry about it, you won't be qualifying on this run." LOL Did you have fun at the dance??

I had lost 3 pounds yesterday, then after sushi, beer, starbucks, I gained them back!! Oh well, next holiday isn't until Easter in April, so maybe I can get a bigger headstart on the weight loss!

Have a great one!!

BTW, went looking for my BFF Tammy....... She dumped us!!! Go to her page and give her "what for"!!! Ha ha aha ha ha ha ha

Long day yesterday, especially with the back issue flaring up. Back on the anti-inflammatories for a while I guess. Looking forward to the group run tonight - we've had a number of evening commitments, so it's going to be hard to get my required miles in mid-week - may end up a little short.

Good news on my $/mile project - as of today I am in the positive by $1.01! This means I've run enough to pay off the registration fees for the 1/2 and full marathons! I was all excited until I realized I'll need to buy new shoes before the marathon - so I have to start "saving up" for that expense.

Dee - except for sitting in the car for hours right after racing, your trip sounds great! Hope the beach sand is hard packed for you, and not too chewed up by the people ahead of you (there won't be many of those, right?)

Rich - glad things settled down quickly. Keeping my finger crossed that she adjusts to the new meds easily.

Glenda - awww - how sweet of your DH! Mine still brings chocolate or sponge candy "because I know you like it"... sabatoge... Hope you had a blast at your dance.

Dee- Is the whole half on the beach? Running on sand can be so hard- although, rain may be a good thing to pack down the sand. Good luck.

I got home from work today and my husband wrote me a poem about getting his hair cut for me for valentines day because he knew I don't want junk food. What a dork! but it was cute. Now he's making me fish, yams and broccoli for dinner. What a guy. Dance tonight.

Rich, Wow! So sorry! Sending healing prayers, I hope everything gets settled quickly. Those things can be sooooo scary!

Carol/Glenda, the half marathon is on the actual beach! Surfside Beach, TX they are expecting a high of 61-65 with possible rain...... I have never ran on sand before, but they say it will be packed well...... Let's hope so!

Carol, we leave for Floriday right after the race. We will be taking I-10 mostly along the gulf coast until we hit Louisiana/Floriday state line, then we will drive across Florida to the Atlantic Ocean!!! Hope you wake up soon! LOL

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Not sure why but I'm really tired and sleepy today... even the dog slept better than I did last night. Rest day yesterday, stretching and PT exercises today.

Dee - the hangover will be gone before you get to Florida! Even without the 10-miler you are READY for this half!

Rich - HUGS! Hoping everything is settling down for DD.

Glenda - you are doing great on the early morning workouts! Good job tracking the mini-eggs too.

Good morning

I was up extra early this morning and did yoga again. Go me! So far I've burned over 1000 calories this week. yahoo.

Rich- sorry about DD, hope they can find the right meds quickly.

Dee- Good luck on ...saturday was it? With your race. It should be warm there hey? Lucky you!

Carol- Boo to PT hurting back- or whatever was the cause.

Kimmie- sorry your stomach still is yucky. I say let your body be your guide on how far and how hard you run. Better to take time now, then screw up your training closer to your race.

Off to work again. I ate fairly well yesterday- except for the mini eggs- but I counted them and but the calories in. I will try for an even better day today!

Sorry guys, cannot do personals today, you guys are just too chatting on weekends. LOL

I had an epic fail this weekend, started out Friday night with snacks and hot chocolate (with Bailey's coffee creme liquer) marshmallows, etc etc. Snacked all day Saturday! I have hypoglycemia, so it put me into a semi-coma, was really sick when I went to bed that night. Sunday was "hung-over" so to speak, slept most of the day. So I missed my 10 mile run... :(

Today I have a horrible headache, BUT..... I have 4 more wake-ups and I will be running my half on Saturday and then headed to Florida that afternoon!!!!! Woot Woot

My stomach is still wonky, hoping to get in my run today! I hate that i didn't run at all last week, it is making me a little twitchy! Only 6 weeks til my 10 mile race, the longest run yet, I am still at about 7.3 miles as my longest!

Carol- you are a running machine!!

Rich- That is a FAST 5k. I ran the same distance yesterday and it took me almost 10 minutes longer.

Well monday again- week 6 of 10 for senior practice. sometime this week I will be getting my mid-term evaluation- hopefully it will go alright. This with mean I can get hired for a job soon too. Oh to have an income!
I was up an extra 20 mins early and got a morning yoga in. Just some sun salutations to start the day. It's tough work- all the down dog, chatarunga etc. My shoulders are feeling it. Anyways- off to start my day.

Have a good day everyone. Oh and the weather is so much warmer today. yeah.

Ran 4 on the TM this morning - usually I take a rest day after a long run, but my schedule is full tomorrow, so I did it today. The first mile was hard, and then things loosened up. Did a session with the foam roller afterward. Still fell tight and legs are tired.

Glenda - i've done yoga classes in the past, but they don't work with my schedule right now. I do about 10 minutes of poses 2-3 time a week just for the stretching.

Kimmie - I love the idea of taking the train as far as you want to run! Your DH and mine would get along great...

Bekka - is the Supreme 90 from the same people that do the P90X? I'd like to find something that is shorter than P90X too. Here's hoping getting the right meds lets you get back to racing more easily!

Rich - a speedy 5K sounds like a great way to start the week. I love it when I get fit enough to be twitchy on my off days.

HI Beka- sorry to hear about the troubles you are having. Must really be a curve ball for you. At least you are still able to keep running and posting!

Kimmie- that run on the train sounds Great! I love runs that are really for the fun like that. Usually a smaller crowd- or not the elite runners at them, so I always have a lot of fun. Good luck with it.

I got my run in today-it was cold- about 7 F with windchill. But not too bad- the sun was bright and blue sky so overal a good 3 mile run. Oh, and FINALLy I was able to run my average below a 12 min/mile. I've been slower than that lately.
Off to my sisters.

Hi Glenda, Rich, Carol, Dee!

I was making such great progress checking in here more regularly, then i was thrown a curveball. I got the results of routine bloodwork and one of my numbers was off the charts so i've been dealing with that (specialists, more blood work, a pity party LOL). I blogged it so i won't go on and on.

BUT! I'm moving forward. Today i got up and ran on my tread for 30 mins to test myself out. It felt great physically and mentally. I'm going to take a look at a Half Marathon for the spring, register, then start training. Maybe Providence in May again. We'll see.

My plan is to run 3 more times this week, and start doing "Supreme 90" as recommended by LightningRunner. I have P90X, but the workouts are so long and when i don't have that much time at once, i feel disappointed that i didn't finish a workout, so i'm trying something new :). I'll do a bit of that and continue with Oxygen Mag's Best Body Workouts.

What's in store for you this week?

Glenda, I love yoga! My gym has a class every day at some time or another, but I like the beginner class on Tuesday nights. Been crazy lately and haven't been able to go, but I always feel so chill and zen afterwards, lol.

I was going to attend a training run today with some people running the NJ marathon/half but it is 24* out and windy, and the run is along the beach, so I am staying home. I hadn't planned to run today anyway, but might do some Zumba if my back feels up to it. It was stiff when i woke up, hoping it will loosen up.

I did sign up for another race yesterday, it is in two weeks, and you take the train down the beach. They have 4 stops depending on the distance you want to run, and then you run back to the start for pizza and beer. LOVE it! I am doing the 6 mile run, but there is also 1,2, and 4 miles. My hubby, always the supporter, has offered to keep a stool warm for me, and get started on the beer and pizza early, lol. What a pal!

Good morning- I start most posts this way- but I feel like I should because I'm up so early lately and it's still so dark out!! So Good Morning everyone!

Carol- I ended up not running afterall- the windchill didn't go down as much as I wanted. So you don't have to be that impressed!! I also agree with you 10 miles and easy- do not belong in the same sentence! But, good job on getting your run in.

Rich- Have a good ride and run.

I am going for a run today, temp is supposed to be much warmer and no windchill so it'll will feel like fall- well to me at least. I will later also do some yoga. Does anyone do much yoga? I am thinking about getting a pass to a place in the near future, I have been researching where I may want to go, prices etc. I can just do it at home, but I think having somewhere to go will make me do it more. Although- I did complete 3 workout videos this week. I am very happy with myself for that.

Anyways- hope you all have a good day.

Hmm...if I could be doing anything else right now, I'd be crossfitting.
