Doctor agreed to Armour Thyroid. Insurance sent it. I'm just finishing up the last of other and t3, then I'll be on new medicine. Had a great conversation with Dr.

I've had MTHFR test (simple blood test) When doctor saw I had mutation, he ordered two more blood test, gave me a b12 shot (even though I use gel up nose) and is checking areas I had not considered.

I got MTHFR test for cancer rists. Every day they learn more about it. All hormone issues including Thyroid are related to the outcome of your test.

Thanks Zoorho...Because you have gone through the same steps I'm encouraged to take these steps now. My doctor is so frustrated by our hard earned insurance program which cost us much being the last say..Oh, so true about how we are now in this insurance mess...uninformed voting

I'm with your on the free bc and yet LIFE SAVING STUFF/ LIFE LONG NEED STUFF we pay for!?!?!?!?!
Well sadly we asked for it (not personally but because of uniformed people)

I do think your dr can still write that it is medically necessary for you to have the real stuff. I can't see that the ins company can change that. you will have to pay for it though.

I was on synthorid for a couple of years. I would effeminately ask to change to Armour. it is cheaper too.

I have been on Synthroid for three years. My insurance has switched me to generic this month (I'm still taking what is left of synthroid. I do take liothyronine which is generic T3. Question. Has any of you been on synthroid or generic and moved to Armour and found that Armour did just as well or better than the others?

I'm asking because the reason I was on label synthroid was because I reacted with the generic. I guess now I have to jump Hoops to get name brand now. Also, I use glucose strips which now cost me $45 for 3 month supply....how is it a birth control pill is free but diabetic monitoring strips cost just under buying them otc? my ranting...

I have been on it about 3 weeks. I do feel it is making a difference. I don't feel the anxiety that I had been having. And I do feel in a better mood too.

I checked my blood pressure and its low for me by a little 117/87/83. The pulse is usually in the 90's but the months of exercise could be the reason its improving. I went and laid down after my post but was in a half sleep half awake. I do take a muscle relaxer but just 1 a day for the last couple weeks for my neck spasms. More than one and I can't sleep. This kind of feels like the old thyroid symptom before I was diagnosed. But I did feel loads better after dinner last night. I'm bad about eating lunch, tend to snack on fruit, nuts, cheese etc during the afternoon and not eat a meal.

Michelle,
I'd take your blood pressure when that happens and if you have a glucose monitor, I'd check that as well. Then let your doc know. It may be something besides your thyroid that is signaling it needs attention.

sounds scary!!

Blessings,
Heidi

I had just about the same experience switching to armour! My life improved on many levels. I actually feel like I could walk, exercise do more than one chore in a day and libido came back to some degree-didn't know it was supressed just thought thats how it was. I'm also celiac and have low zinc, iron and b12, who knows what else.:-)
I've had weird symptoms lasting nearly a week. I wake up and feel dizzy, woozy and when I sit down I'm overcome with exhaustion my head lolls to the side and my eyes shut. I have to struggle to stay awake. I haven't let myself go to sleep when this happens as it scares me habit. I feel a little tired when I stand up but nothing like sitting.

After 15 years on the synthetic, I've found a doc who is letting me try Armour as well!! After a few days, my energy level increased, quite dramatically. After a week, my brain fog began to clear. Now at 2 weeks, my 21 day cycle seems to be going to stretch out a bit. That bit REALLY surprises me, I figured it would be at least 2-3 months until I got back onto a normal cycle, esp. I've had a 21 day cycle for 2 years (not realizing it was hypo related). Still hoping the massive amounts of hair loss stops. I expect that to take while since we are dealing with the cellular level- 3 months or more.

Best wishes on your new med!

Blessings,
Heidi

Thanks, i know I'm not looking for a magic cure with the weight but I do hope it helps with my mood and some other bothersome issues. And with that I hope it helps my motivation for exercising and eating better. (I'm doing both but probably not with the enthusiasm I should)

I've been taking Armour Thyroid for over ten years. You may have to adjust your dosage from time to time. My doctor closely monitors mine.

Live each moment to its fullest!

I've been on the equivalent of Armour for over 10 years. It has helped me with everything but weight loss. I did lose weight a couple of years back, but I now seem stuck but I feel great!

I've been on armour for 3 years and have loads more energy and none of the weird side effects I had on synthroid. Weight loss will never come like I wanted but feeling better and being able to exercise is a major accomplishment!

I'm hoping that it helps me with my mood and some other issues, one of which is I just cannot loose any more weight.
