Oh, I left something out, I'm a major tooth grinder, so I've found that gum keeps my mouth busy and satisfies the stress too. It also keeps my hands free for studying, I've found that I study slower if I snack because of the hand use involved.

With the burn I break up the stress, with my sweat it leaves my body.

Study time can be a big caloric problem for me because I'll want things like chocolate bars, chips, oreos with milk and such. I try to be keep those cravings at bay by eating something healthy before studying and then snacking on popcorn or, like someone mentioned before ice. I've found too that ice can keep the hand and crunchy aspect of stress inspired snacking satisfied plus it keeps me hydrated, I get in regular breaks (for bathroom trips) and my mouth doesn't get dry feeling from stress.

With the burn I break up the stress, with my sweat it leaves my body.

A cup of tea is a definate must. That usually kills the craving. But if i feel I need more I eat something that goes with the tea like two or three biscuits, a slice of banana bread or something else slightly sweet. Of course I make sure I count the calories into my daily limit.

Light string cheese or Orville Redenbacher SmartPop popcorn--they make mini bags that only have 100 calories and are delicious!

I like to eat anything crunchy. Like nuts or potato chips or my favorite candy nerds.

I like popcorn. I have a popcorn machine, so I can measure the amount and spray on fake butter. I also drink tea with vanilla flavoring, if I am craving something sweet.

Weight Goal 125 pounds, when it happens.

I have switched recently (after actually trying to keep track of everything!!) from ruffles to fruit!! I normally snack on cherries or grapes... Cherries are good cuz you actually have to think about them with the pits and you don't actually end up eating as much or seedless grapes that are frozen are a great summer treat!! (take the stems off before you stick them in freezer bags to go in freezer - it makes it a lot easier!!) emoticon

You guys are all so admirable for reaching for the fruit as snacks!! Most of the time it takes too much effort for me to do that. =/ I can't really eat those small calorie-packs either, cus I'll end up needing another, and another :(

What has been working for me recently is pretzel sticks! It takes me a few seconds to scratch the salt off each one (tastes better that way) so then I can't stuff them all in my face at once. And it's only 100 calories per 50! :D

Any
the numbers sound small, but i'm less than 5' tall! ;)

This sounds kinda crazy but when I'm afraid of whether I'm eating because I'm bored or depressed or to distract my fingers, I eat ice. :o) If I'm still really hungry after that then I go for almost exactly what was mentioned above, minus the skittles. Oh and strawberries when they're in season and fruits that need peeling. :o)

I'm a fan of veggies and dip. Just be sure to measure out the amount of dip before you leave the kitchen. If you don't you'll never be able to accurately keep track of it. :D

People tell me they like my profile picture because it makes them laugh

I say, "Thanks! Thats why it's there."

I am so the apple girl when in study mode. Cut up an apple, open a book, chomp, turn page, and so on. I like apples because they're sweet, I find the crunch satisfying, and they're pretty fiber-full so they're filling as well. If I want something else to go with it, I usually eat some rice cakes. You know, keeping it low-fat and low-cal. emoticon

Hey everyone. Thankfully this school year is winding down and we'll have a bit of a break soon enough...

I was just curious, what are your *favourite* snacking foods to have when you're studying or writing papers late into the evening? Depending on how long you go, I think the desire to snack is inevitable, but I'm looking for some better alternatives than what I usually reach for!
