I am a sodaholic. I love Dr. Pepper. but for the past week I've been drinking water. When I need some flavor, I put the Propel mix in the water. I only do it once a day, but it halps me get to 8 glasses a day.

I don't like Crystal Light because aspartame (the sweetener in it) gives me horrible headaches, so I use Splenda and Koolaid to make my fruity non-water drink.

With the burn I break up the stress, with my sweat it leaves my body.

I feel your pain! I'm a HUGE milk drinker and it's challenging to reduce my intake--talk about pure liquid calories! Luckily, I enjoy the taste of water, and for a while, I actually used it to thin out my milk(Cold turkey just isn't an option for me). One thing about water, though, a week after I started getting 8/day, my skin looked phenomenal!

I never drank alot of soda, but when I got to school having it in the cafe was horrible I swear thats were the freshmen 15 came from! Now that I have taken it right out of my diet I feel so much better!! Water just makes me feel so much better plus it flushes out your system.

Peach tea... that sounds *really* good. I may have to try some of this crystal light for myself. I know the commercial and my dad drinks the lemonade, which is alrightish. I've never really been a big fan of lemonade, though. Not the powder kind. I make my own in the summer.

You just have to be careful with fruit juices...some are incredibly high in calories, sugar and carbs. Even though it's a healthy alternative to pop, it still counts against your daily nutrient intakes. I think it's Old Orchard that makes a line of juice called Healthy Balance. My parents had it when I was visiting over winter break. I tried the apple (which I liked better than regular apple juice), white grape, apple cran, and something that was a darker red. They were all really good and I don't really even like juice.

What's that commercial? Why can't your water come in pretty colors? How about adding Crystal Lite to your water?

I love apple juice and diet coke. I've never been a huge fan of water so I'm kinda forcing myself to drink it. The only time I actually like drinking it is during a work out. I roughly drank 7 diet cokes a day and so to kinda avoid that I stopped buying the can drinks and bought two 2-liters of diet coke and a twelve pack of water and my apple juice that I always drink in the morning. It's a goal of mine to only drink a diet coke when I'm eating because I hate drinking water with food.

I used to have a huge problem with drinking far too much pop, or "soda" to the rest of the world, like you said. I'd drink something like three cans a day, and I even bought three cases when I was home on winter break to bring back with me (I don't have my license yet, and lugging pop and/or water on the bus is a pain). However, since I've been trying to drink my eight glasses of water each day, I haven't once had pop!

I do drink a lot of orange juice, but I don't count that into my water servings.

I used to drink a lot of soda. While it was diet, I know that stuff can't be good for you. I'm very happy with my water and that's what I eat with most meals. At first water can seem boring and unappealing, but after a while you may actually find that you really enjoy drinking it.

You'll find that after not having soda for a while (I gave it up before the start of fall semester), once you drink it again it will be disgusting. I had some the other day and it was thick, and too sweet, and just left me feeling sick. Once you get past the first week or so, it shouldn't be too hard!

I used to drink at least five pops a day. And I stopped becuase I started a bet with two of my friends to see who could go the longest. I won! It's been five years now and I feel so much healthier!

I had horrible withdrawls, though, for the first two weeks, but stay strong! It's worth it! I lost five pounds really quickly from just eliminating pop from my diet! (and at that point in time, I was not even trying to lose weight!)

I've never been a huge pop drinker...but when I go to drive throughs I occassionally will have a sprite or sierra mist. I've learned that lite lemonades are really good substitutes to a sugary carbonated drink. I don't know if you absolutely despise water, but just having it beside you at work or having a bottle with you in class will force you to drink it. Good luck staying away from the pop and kudos to you for starting to over come your caffine addiction!

Since I've started with SP I haven't really had a problem drinking water. I have a 32 oz gatorade bottle that I carry around. I only need to drink two to per day, but I usually end up drinking 3 or more. I find that just having it next to me makes me want to drink it. I have noticed however that I have to go to the bathroom ALL the time though. LOL.

A word of caution about using coffee and tea as a water serving: Though they are mostly water, they typically have caffeine which is a diuretic and can actually dehydrate you. Tea isn't nearly as bad as coffee (I believe that a cup of black tea has approx 1/3 the caffiene found in a cup of coffee). Black tea has the most caffeine, green tea has a moderate amount, and white tea has the least. Since herbal teas don't have any caffeine they might be ok, but you might consider asking an expert about that.

Regardless, if its the difference between drinking tea, soda, or nothing at all, tea is probably better

Good luck! :D

I'm another tea junkie. Black tea with a splash of half and half and Splenda is good. emoticon

Thanks! I love tea, and to be honest, never even thought about drinking that as a water serving! I have the same problem with having to take so many restroom breaks now! Hopefully, that will subside once my body gets used to all the water!

Oh yeah, there's about a million flavors of tea too. Find one you like that goes well without sweetener.

Tea!! I drink *LOTS* of tea. English Breakfast Tea in the morning, green tea throughout the day, and Cozy Cammomile herbal tea before bed. If you have one at breakfast, one at lunch, and one at bedtime, that's three to six glasses of water, depending on how big your mug is.

Funny story... I have a 20oz water bottle that I carry around with me. I'd have to drink three and some for my full day's water. And trust me, I've been putting it away. But it's CRAZY how much I have to take restroom breaks! I had to leave my final this evening to go. Even if I spread it out, it's way more water than I'm used to.

or soda, to the majority of the world. I'm a crazy Minnesotan!

I was just wondering if anyone else is/was struggling with the at least 8 glasses of water a day? Before sp, I only drank Dr. Pepper.

I'm getting better at it, and I haven't even really wanted any pop (although, I think my headaches might be from "caffeine withdrawls".

What do other people drink instead of just water??
