To add to this list... I recently downloaded "Ultra Dance 9" and basically anything that is good to dance to is good to run to (or exercise to). These are all house club like beats, very fun! Some mixes of top 40 songs in there too which I greatly enjoy.

Gwen Stephani is also good as well JT. :-D Among others.

A great feel good song is "Pump it" by Black Eyed Peas. You're going to love it! It motivates me to run longer and faster than I do when listening to other songs. :)

i just like listenign to fast upbeat music while im exercising.
the slow stuff makes me want to run or do the exercises slower. and it just doesnt help me. when i do exercise with music, i tend to go with the beat.

Im not a 'dance' music person but have recently found that it is AMAZING to work out to, i especially am loving Black Box 'Ride on time' - man it gets me going!!! Also 'Rock the casbah' by the clash always puts a bounce in my stride!

For me, music is the difference between excersize being a chore and being something i enjoy - half the time i end up almost dancing on the cross trainer! The stronger the beat the better!!

Although I live by Chicago I am a country gal at heart, and usually listen to country music all the time. I noticed though while working out that I perfer rap music. It is not usually my style but I love the beat and often push myself with better results on cardio workouts when I have rap loud on my ipod.

There are websites like iTrain.com that actually sell songs that are real workouts and have inspirational instructors telling you what to do and stuff... I haven't bought any yet but I'm really looking into it. Other than that, techno always keeps me pumped.

Music is love. These songs always help me to stay motivated when I'm exercising. Thinking about them makes me want to jump on my elliptical machine right now.

Free Bird - Lynard Skynard. I'm normally not a fan of this band but this particular song reminds me of road trips and good times. It puts me in a better mood and makes me want to move.

Riot Poof - Tori Amos. I've loved it for years.

Datura - Tori Amos. Excellent working out song. It has a good rhythm to it.

Isobel - Bjork. This is one of my favorite songs.

Even Flow - Pearl Jam. An all around awesome song.

Happy Phantom - Tori Amos

Hunter - Bjork

Cornflake Girl - Tori Amos

Cherry Lips - Garbage

American Woman - Jimi Hendrix

Manic Depression - Jimi Hendrix

Most Doors songs

You Oughta Know - Alanis Morrissette

Talula - Tori Amos

Unemployable - Pearl Jam

Optimistic - Radiohead

Human Behavior - Bjork

There are a ton more but I'm feeling lazy right now.

songs that work well for me:
1) "break my stride" covered by blue lagoon - the lyrics and the rhythm are both encouraging
2) "watcha waitin' for?" by gwen stewani - the tick-tock part pushes me so much . . . but i do move on to the next song when she starts calling me (well, herself, really) a stupid ho. i don't need that when i'm on the elliptical!

I have to second the Justin Timberlake suggestion. I'm not personally a huge fan of his music, but his newer tunes have some pretty awesome beats to work out to. It's the same with any sort of club-ish music (Sean Paul, Nelly Furtado's newer things, things like that) -- I can't help but move when I'm listening to them.

Fatboy slim is a great choice!! I'm totally going to have to listen to that next time I'm at the gym. No Doubt is a pretty good idea too. I'm not so much a fan of the newer stuff, but I *adore* tragic kingdom

Yesterday I had on stabbing westward. I had to skip some of the slow songs, but the faster ones had me going faster than ever.

I've also been toying with the idea of Rob zombie/white zombie (particularly the remixes) and anything techno. Even trance has pretty fast beats.

I should dig out some of my old punk/ska too. Goldfinger and Reel Big Fish make my laugh my ass off and get me all upbeat and happy.

People tell me they like my profile picture because it makes them laugh

I say, "Thanks! Thats why it's there."

I don't know if you like Aerosmith, but his album "Big Ones" is great....I set my treadmill speed to whatever the beat of the song playing is. I love it because it seems like whenever I start to get tired, a little slower paced one starts. It's like he wrote the album just for the gym!

All right. Well, I don't have an MP3 player... But I've often fantasized about it. lol Here are the some of the songs I would have to put on my exercise playlist. Warning- some of these are like, in the archives. :P

London Beckoned Songs About Money Written by Machines- Panic at the Disco
Baby Got Back- Sir Mixalot
Dirrty- Christina Aguilera
Lose Control- Missy Elliott
Shake That Ass for Me- Eminem/Nate Dogg
My Humps- Black Eyed Peas

I'll come back and add more as the whim takes me. :)

okay I have the perfect solution! haha I was doing 30 mins on an EFX machine and 5 mins into it I was tired sore and didn't want to go on. WHEN SUDDENLY...my IPod selected "MY LOVE" but Justin Timberlake...I found myself dancing to the beat and feeling like I could go one forever.

Like him or not, his new album is full of hot beats that are great for working out to. Basically what songs make you want to dance...use those.

I have this problem too.....I listen to really layed back acoustic music, which is awesome, but doesn't really inspire you to get up and exercise....

Risk! Risk anything!...Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.

I suppose it all really depends on your music preferences, but what songs do you guys like to listen to when you work out? I'm trying to find songs but I really can't find any that work for me. I'd like help compiling a looong list of songs! Thanks!
