I agree with everyone that says to mix it up - changing my exercise routine keeps me form getting bored and I've also found new ways of exercising that I love.

I have lost most of my weight by walking with friends and then as I got faster and outgrew them I got an iPod to listen to music while I did my walking.

And I do use Leslie Sansone, Jillian Micheals and those of SP. Maybe your library has some that can be checked out to find out what you really like to do.

Youtube, netflix, sparkpeople all have videos you can try. Sparkpeople also has a store- I recommend buying the starter kit, it has an exercise ball, resistance band, pedometer (to count your steps), and instructional dvd. Its way worth the $30. I bought it myself.

There are walking programs you can try. Get out and walk around your neighborhood, go hiking at your local park, go to the mall and join the mall walkers.

You can buy a bike at a department store usually for around $90-100. If you already have one, put on a backpack and try riding it to the store the next time you need a couple things.

Don't give up, there are MANY different things you can try. You can't possibly try them all and not find something new you enjoy.

Well the Aquarius hit me on the head - group exercise is for me - I stay more motivated. I love our local Y - have been a member for 15 years. Right now I do alot of the spinning classes - love them - because I am being pushed. Love Spark People Videos to - try to do some of them each day. Don't give up - just find something new and exciting!!

Last weeks defeat is a gateway to many victories.

Lord - grant me the Serinity to accept the things I can not change, the Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the differance.

Change it up to liven it up!!! I never do the same workout twice in one week. I also rent videos from my library, use ONDEMAND exercise tv and have a stack of my own videos I mix up every week!! Also, once you switch to a variety of workouts, your body will love it!!! Hope this helps!! Good luck!!

Ah! you badly need a change in your type of work out.
Dancing no doubts is exciting and interesting, but try some other aerobic workouts or cardio for a change. Multiple exercises should also help you further to remain motivated.

After three weeks a routine gets boring for me. I change my routine every three weeks with DVDs, jogging, yoga, spinning, etc. I add weights to my routine two to three times a week. Besides, if you do the same routine everyday, your body gets used to it...you need to mix it up.

Routines need to keep changing, regardless of what you are doing. Even if you went dancing every night, you wouldn't want to keep doing the saem moves. Don't feel like you have to be working along with a DVD to get a workout. Incorporate activity into your day.

Yesterday my nephew was riding his sled down the hill. My older nephew, early 20's, would ride down with him and then pull the sled and 5-yr-old back to the top. Talk about a workout. And neither of them came in complaining they were bored.

Find something you love and keep adding fun to it. I do Turbo Jam and Taebo and seldom get bored. I'm too breathless to get bored.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Glad to know I am not alone!! I think I will look for videos online of exercises, and switch up dvd's w/ music till I feel comfortable to join a jazzercise or Zumba class!

I have to mix it up as well. I get really bored doing the same think over and over again. We are going to start ballrom dancing again to add more variety to my aerobic workout. A dance class followed by open dancing can burn a lot of calories I hope.

I have that same problem....if Idon't mix it up, I get bored. So I take different classes: zumba, african dancing, and water aerobics. In between those, I'll use different dvds that I have at home and also the elliptical and treadmills at the gym. If you give yourself some variety, it helps.

Don't give up!! Keep that spark!!

I'm with you Nancy. I love my membership at the Y. I take Zumba and water aerobics, turbo jam and yoga. I love the classes, they motivate me to move it,move it. When I do dvd's at home, if the phone rings, or anything to distract me, I never get back into it. I highly recommend the Y, it has worked for me. I have lost over 55 lbs and have kept it off for more than a year. Now it is time to get off the other 45 I need to loose.

Do you still want some sort of 'dance' exercise? I've heard that Zumba workouts are very fun. I've also heard good things about the Turbo Jam series.

Hi Tasha- Glad you're here. This is an awesome site with lots of support , motivation, and resources. Check out a blog that I read this morning that just blew me away-BOTZZZ's blog from today 1/8/10 "weigh in - only 48 lbs. from goal" It is truly inspiring!
I just got a YMCA membership for Christmas (asked for it). They have some great classes at different times of the day - swimming, water aerobics, yoga , zumba , spinning, etc. Maybe there's a "Y" near you? They are much less intimidating than a gym, all shapes and sizes there, regular people. Hope this helpsemoticon

I joined jazzercise again a year ago. I used to take back in the 90's. I too love to dance sooo...jazzercise is it! They change the routines all the time so you don't get bored. If a teacher doesn't change the routine quick enough I get bored. So, I go to another jazzercise location which changes things up for me. You need some variety in your workout just like you do in your menu's. If you can't do jazzercise maybe you can record some workout shows on TV, rent a workout video from Blockbuster, put on some of your favorite music to dance around the house. Good luck to you and remember get some variety!!emoticon

It does sound like you are in definite need of change. There are so many different exercises you can do. It should be fun. I would maybe do some of the stretches or exercises on this site. They are fast and at all kinds of difficult levels. I use "The biggest loser" Dvd's and I have 5 different ones. I alternate between them so I don't get bored. I would try that. Do anything that is different. Even walking and then sprinting inbetween. Hang in there! You can do this.

I started exercising consistently for the first time in my life about 3 weeks ago. I started doing what I call Jam Sessions... where I simply dance to music. They started out being 10 minutes and now are anywhere from 20-30... But there is a problem, I am almost getting bored with my routine and am finding myself dancing with less oomph! I am lessening my workout each day because of this. I have Leslie Sansone DVD's which I have used in the past, and find myself walking during the music in ways I used to dance hard. I need advice!!!! What should I change or add?? Thanks!!
