I'm new to this Team as well. How encouraging to know I am not alone in *not liking* to exercise.
Finding an exercise buddy has helped me past and present. If I am to meet someone there is that commitment and accountability issue! At this point in my life it is my DH and precious 'puppy' and boy do they keep me accountable!! :)
I also have a mini trampoline with a workout DVD and I love it! A treadmill at home helps also, as I don't have to get out in 'bad' weather or skip the exercising!
Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I'm new to the team as well and looking forward to being a part of it. Most of my exercise is walking and strength training a few times a week. I have a tony little gazelle, but the fun of that lasted about 2 days My goal for the new year is to get back at that every day.

Hi Team, I'm Mary Lou and I've been a Sparker for almost a year. I never thought ANYTHING could make me like exercising but I found a wonderful trainer and I look forward working with me. Last night she actuallyhad me jumping onto the BOSU ball. I don't think I have ever jumped before, but I did it last night. At first I was pretty bad, but Rachel kept encouraging me and soon I had it working. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next. And she is so good about praise. I feel so proud of myself. ps: you want inspiration? Just get a hug from Chris Downey like I did at the Spark Convention.

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is.
Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.

Welcome to the group I too did not like exercise but I have a Wii and they have some great exercise titles. I also don't like the gym so make use of DVDs as well (Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds series and Pilates).
Find an activity you enjoy and do it often. If that is hiking through the local woods, biking, skating (ice or inline), even walking. If you have a gym membership already see if they offer classes for things like kick boxing, dance, step aerobics or yoga.
Good luck and I hope you find that "it" workout that works for you.

Thanks for the welcome. I am glad to know I am not the only one who doesn't like to exercise. I have a gym membership and I really need to use it more. I had a knee replacement 2 years ago. I love my new knee it is so strong and I have no excuse to keep me from exercising. As I said thanks for the welcome..

Trust me your not alone when it comes to exercising. I feel the same way. I'm also going to have to really push myself to exercise. Maybe we can encourage each other. In either case welcome.

I hear you! Exercise was never something that I wanted to do, but in order to save my knees and keep walking when I was 297 lbs. I decided I could do it. The thing that has saved me is building a "library" of alternate ways of exercising so that I have no excuse. I do water exercise at an indoor pool and at an out door pool, I do indoor and outdoor biking and my indoor bike is a dual exercise Marcy brand that exercises the upper body also. I have 3, 5, and 8 lb weights at home, and I do weight training on machines at a local rehab place. And I walk a little (only a little cause of my knees). So if I don't want to go to the gym one night, I make myself go home and bike in front of the TV and lift my 8 lb wts. If it's nice, I'll ride my outdoor bike, etc. And yeah, I have to force myself, but the alternative is now unthinkable!

Hi, My name is Margie. I have been with spark people a few months now. I have a big problem with exercise. I don't like exercise and I just have to make myself do it. and then it's hard to stick with it. I am hoping that participating in this team I will gain some enthusiasm for exercising. I am looking forward to being active on this team in the new year..Thanks for having me on your team.
