Eat of couple of cracker unsalted and some milk. I just started doing just that because I can't work out in the mornings and it helps me with the workout ,no more quessiness or light headedness. I am also eating 6 small meals aday now to keept my metabolism up and burning to the max. I have my coffee afterwards. Good luck, these are all great suggestions.

HAKIRBY you're absolutely right - and that goes for any time of the day. If your body does not have enough energy on a regular basis your metabolism will slow right down and your hard work will not be as beneficial!
TLOVESC1125 it isn't so bad because you are boosting your metabolism with the caffeine from the coffee. Caffeine helps your body use the energy it has but following up your workout with a snack would be greatly appreciated by your body as well! Make sure you're getting your calcium too as coffee can wreck havoc on your bone health!

I know this isn't the greatest thing but I drink coffee before I work out then water during and after. It works for me.

I always eat something light if I've got to work out in the AM. I've heard that your body thinks your starving otherwise and slows your metabolism right down (in Triathlon Made Easy, by Sam Murphy)

You want to give your body a little boost before a morning workout. Eating something that is "quick energy" like a piece of fruit(preferably not acidic) or a whole grain will get your metabolism going and won't be stuck in your body so long that it will disrupt your workout. As always, you should also consume some water too! Hope this helps!

I tried not eating before a morning workout & I actually felt sick. So now I'll have 1 slice of whole wheat bread with 1/2 ounce of sandwich meat of some kind. That seems to get me through & I have my regular breakfast after I shower & get dressed.

Some days are just more sluggish-y than others, but I do find that I need a little something before the gym, especially if it's first thing in the morning. I usually have a pear, an apple, or a handful of nuts.

If you eat before you could get cramps unless you are going to wait a while until you work out.

I usually have whole grain cereal with non-fat milk and a piece of fruit. I keep it simple before a morning workout.

Sounds like some good advice. Eat a little before. I drink water before during and after exercising. Just dont eat a full meal.

I agree with Sandra. Some light whole wheat items work for me too, 1/2 wheat english muffin or 17 Special K wheat crackers with some grapes or bananas. After my workouts if I'm hungry a little yogurt with granola is nice.

Grab a piece of fruit or a piece of toast wait 10 to 15 minutes for digestion and then work out. start slowly and then warm up. It works for me, I get up at seven, eat a bit of toast or a 1/2 banana or apple, then by the time I am dress in gym cloths, i can usually exercise, I start with 10 minute warn up on bike or treadmill, then, weights or more cardio. hope this helps. I am not a morning person and so I tend to work out in the evenings. Today I knew that this evening's workout was not going to happen so I dragged myself out of bed and went to the gym. I found it really hard to get a good work out but then it maybe was the fact that I wasn't fueling my body. Is it better to eat before a morning workout? If so what? - you don't want to feel bloated during exercise!
