I use SparkPeople's recommendation of 1200-1550 calories and record my "intake" in my 3-month journal then I upload the data to SP.

My goal for October is to eat about 1,500 calories a day. I haven't thought of a range for the calories., but so far it's been about 1,500 spot on each day.

I bought a small book that has the calories, protein, carbs, etc. in it, and have been recording the information into a paper journal. I haven't had enough time to upload the information to Sparkpeople each day.

One thing that I've learned from recording the calories is that I eat the same foods over and over throughout the week so that should help me to learn the calorie information quickly.

I hope that I can continue to record the calories each day for the rest of the month, and beyond.

I am getting healthier!

I Love having a calorie counter... This is the first time I have really paid attention to the calories and/the nutrition value of my foods... this is really helping me to learn what portion size looks like along with what has the most calories...

I am determined to make this a Healthy life style change and until I reach my final goal... this is helping me to achieve a better awareness of how much and what I am putting in my body... so hopefully when I reach my goal... it will be perminent and I will be able to stay on track more naturally...

I just wanted to have a quick look at the calory counters. I did this 10 years ago, until I began to eat clean and raw. No calory counting anymore. When you eat right, your body knows better how much it needs. How I changed my eating habbits you see on my blog.
I remember when I wrote down every little bite and later in the evening I tried to figure out the calory content.
There are foods which the body transfers quickly and others much slower. The calories do not say enough about what makes fat and what not.

Calorie range: 1270 to 1600. I try to stay in the 1300 - 1400 calorie range. If I stay in the low 1300 range and exercise I can usually lose (even if it is ounces). Over time, I am losing. I've lost 30 pounds since January 2nd and joined SparkPeople in February and it has given me the tools I need to keep losing and more importantly, to get healthy and exercise.

I find that if I stay at 1500 - 1600 cals aday, with or without exercising my weight stays the same. Which is perfect for me right now, since I made weight, 125 emoticon
so now I am on maintainence and will stay at this range for 1 month and the reevaluate. emoticon

I stick to the ranges Spark recommends...all of them... calories, fat, protein, carbs, etc. I even track sodium and calcium...

I plan out my menu either the night before or first thing in the morning. This helps me to make sure I stay within ALL of my ranges.

The amount of calories I burn... about 2000+ a week, spark recommends I eat between 1300 - 1700 calories. I try to average about 1400 - 1500.

After reading so much about NOT eating enough... and therefore putting your body in "starvation" mode.. I make sure I don't eat too little!

I've only had 545 calories today, not hungry, still have to get in another 1000, Yikes maybe I will go for the turkey lasagna after all.

I have a dry erase board that I jot foods down fitness done or any kind of SparkPeople related notes. Then when I get online, I will transfer the info and erase as needed. It works for me and I am successful too.

I track on a daily basis.... and I track first thing in the morning and follow the list (if I go off the list from tracking ... I come back on and change)


I have a SUGGESTION ....


when we were on vacation, I didnt have access to a comp so I jotted down what I ate... the nutrition tracker here on sparks is set up so you can back track your days...

Maybe try a week at a time...

my goal to stay on the lower end of calories range during week...and 1100/1200 weekends... and hopefully 1300 will be my max... am wondering how this will work so gonna give it a try...

My new goal this week is to stay in the upper range of my calories as well as uping my excercise, Don't want to gain the weight that I just lost. I am down 1.5 lbs. Its going to stay off forever now that I have Sparks emoticon
