Okay it seems like we are talking two different things or maybe I've read through to quick, but I'm definitely down for a challenge. I need something to keep me motivated and moving. The biggest thing for me is to remain consistent and solidify my routine. Sooo...start date is when?

Hi there -

Glad you are going to join in! Have you tried Spin Class? I usually burn 400-500 calories per 45 minute session... it's a great workout! I am doing similar activities as you.... I work with a personal trainer doing crossfit 2 times a week for 30 minutes each, run approximately 15 miles a week as part of HM training, and am going to add strength training, spin class and yoga to my schedule.

I'll post my starting weight Thursday, 3/1 then report Progress every Friday after that....

We can do this!!

Hi all -

I'm starting a personal challenge on March 1 and it will run through May 30, to lose a minimum of 13 pounds of fat (approximately 1 pound a week).

I plan to do cardio 5 times a week and weight train 3, along with maintain 1500 calorie intake a day (mostly lean protein and veggies, with some complex carbs). I initiated this challenge on the team called 'lose 1 pound or 1 inch a week', but would be glad to post progress here and root everyone else on. Anyone else want to lose 13 pounds over the next 3 months?

If so, do like me and get your meals planned and grocery shopping done over the next few days... Note: I may start a little earlier if I'm organized. ;-)

I'm also happy to share my meal plan for anyone who is interested. I'm not a nutritionalist, but attempted to find a good balance of protein, complex carbs and healthy fats in each meal.

Let me know. Best wishes to All!

I can't seem to get the scale to budge. I do a lot of exercise already, but it also results in varying calories-out each day, therefore it's hard to stick to eating x calories per day. Hard to define the calories to stick to, for that matter.

I absolutely need to lose inches. Last time I really made a conserted effort was for a 6 week challenge and I had lost only 4lb but so many inches (8% bodyfat). It took from where I am now to my smallest jeans - 7 weeks.

Now I'm rambling. I guess for me, it's consistent hand weights every week, tracking my calories (I can't be as stringent because of my running, but I must know my calories and not just mindlessly munch on fries as I did last night). Maybe I should say I'll cut out fried food. Or always eat a vegetable with lunch. There are so many options.

Hello All, I too am up for a challenge. My only suggestion is that whatever we decide to do, we need to be sure to have accountability by setting weekly reporting requirements, some benchmarks besides the scale, and some type of goal that allows everyone to be a success no matter what they achieve during the period. Do we want to design something to start 2/1/2012?

I'm new here too. Hate that they tell you the team leaders are inactive AFTER you join!
I'm up for a challenge too. Count me in. Is a 12 week challenge too long or just right? I'm worried that if it's too short, the results won't be visible. The rule I've been told is that I will notice results after 4 wks, my friends and family after 8 wks, and everyone else after 12 wks. Maybe I should start a team for this?...

I'm having sleep problem that make me feel so weak and low energy but no worry, I will not give up to get back! So, strategy #1 - do at least 10 minutes of any light exercises. No rush, no trying to fill up the bathtub with my sweat but to get back on track and (hopefully) welcome back the energetic me!

I'm in too!
I am just returning from a little road trip vacation, and a challenge is exactly what I need to get back on track. I've also been less that dedicated to my ST in the past few months, as I was focused on preparing for a race.
So this is what my personal challenge will be for the '4-week Total Transformation':
*30 minute ST 4x/week
*increase weights
*follow Hal Higdon's 8K training program
*stay in calorie range every day

I'm going to create a 'goal' for each of these in my "Other Goals" section, as a way to track my progress.
I'd also like to thank our new team leads for their efforts in renewing the team... and say good luck to everyone participating in the challenge!

I'm in as well. I just got married two weeks ago, and I have been on a not-so-tiny-vacation from my workout/eating norm! My hubby is a football coach, and has agreed to be my personal weight trainer! We started yesterday, maxing out and getting prepared for my "real" lifting. I told him to treat me like one of his boys, not his wife...as long as we are in the gym ;-)

I will take pictures, and weigh in and all that stuff too!

@Florsha: if you are away, it's ok. You are always welcomed to be part of this challenge. Just don't forget to exercise and do your best to eat healthy while away. There's plenty of opportunity to work out while on vacation depending on where you are headed to.

I'm also interested, I haven't been around for a while but ready to kick it in! I'm going on holiday and a wedding in 3 weeks time so hope it's still ok to be part of the challenge. I'm away from 22nd July to 1 August but anything I can do until then is a bonus.
I'm ok to weight in weekly and I track my exercise and nutrition.
Look forward to it!

Thanks for creating this challenge!

Hi Mandy,

I think your idea is great, and I would like to suggest weekly weigh-ins too so we can be accountable to each other. For any one who would not particularly like to share their weights is fine. We'll consider you start at 0lbs, and you can just share if you want how many pounds you lost weekly

I am interested! I really need something to help kick my butt into gear! Thank you for doing this! I'll spend this week getting back into the gym and next week will be the start of my 4 week transformation! I think it would be good to take weekly pictures for anyone interested. I know it sounds funny, but if you are really sticking to a routine, weekly pictures help you to see the total transformation!
Good luck to everyone!

Well, I think we should do whatever fitness routine we are already using or might as well experiment with something new....But I encourage us to push ourselves during this time (not hurt ourselves).
I think that if we can all track our fitness activities using the Sparkpeople fitness tab (and I acknowledge it can be hard when sometimes using home videos), it's all good.
I also suggest taking individual BEFORE and AFTER pics, so that it can be our motivation. For those who wanna take measurements too, it would be awesome!!!

Good morning everyone,

I hope this message finds all of you guys well, and living healthy lifestyles....If not, do not give up, rise up and go!
SO, I'll be assuming you will all read the mail I sent in regards to the challenge I am proposing.
I would like us to start a 4-week total transformation fitness challenge, one in where only our before and after photos (you are welcome to share if you want) will determine how well we did and how well we are progressing.
Now, I know we are at different fitness levels and different goals but I think it is going to be helpful for all of us.
I'm proposing the challenge begins July 11 and ends August 7, 2011.
This is going to be a time where we can expiriment new workout regimens and there are plenty out there, eat HEALTHY (not deprive ourselves and I know I have done it in the past), lose weight (for those for who it is a goal, including myself), gain muscle and lose fat and become more TIGHT and TONED.
I would like to use this thread to be one where we can share comments, criticisms and brainstorm ideas for any possible rules to this challenge. I would also like to know if any of you are interested by simply responding to this thread.
