Hi Barbara, I'm catching up on some earlier posts. Your suggestion about moving and shaking is a great reminder. I've read that fidgety people tend to be thinner. Sometimes I get on the exercise bike when talking on the phone, but I'm going to make a more conscious effort to move more each day. Thanks!

I do hang clothes on the line to dry (mainly bed linens). Dh and I prefer towels and underclothes to be dried in the dryer--softer.

My grandchildren range in ages 6-26. The 6 year old gives me a workout. The others are teenagers and older. I stay busy mostly taking care of my Mom and DH and it seems I always have something to do to keep me moving. I feel too much, most of the time.

We play at games at water aerobics and exercise class. Gina says we move more when we do things like that. I also play some with Toby (dog) but grands think they are tooooo "old" to play with grandma. lol

Believe me, I walked miles today. I went to visit my neighbor in the hospital, parked as far away as possible, walked the long, long hallways and back to my car. Then I took my Mom back to her apartment, long hallways again. I have had a good workout today. I took a nap when I got home.

I have the dog but not the safe neighborhood for walking Toby. Too many in our community do not chain or pen their pets and I admit, I don't want to wencounter some of those 4-legged critters. lol I do play outside with Toby in our fenced yard.

We live over 2 miles from the closest store, no sidewalks, and fast veheciles flying on the road by our house so it is not safe to bike or walk. Also toooooo hot as it is already 80 when the stores open lately. I do park fartherest away from the stores and walk from one to another and don't move the car. I conserve that way. lol

My DH and I do all building projects together. I do all the painting, inside & out. We've remodeled a house, built porches, put on shingles and so much more. I love it when we are doing a project together. It sure is nice to look back with joy at what we have accomplished. My DH does all the rewiring, putting up fans & light fixtures, & sound system.

Our family is a do-it-yourself family. The only thing we have hired out is new windows, siding, and shingles on the roof. We remodeled part of the house, painted, built porches, shelters, and take care of our yard. As you said, besides burning calories by doing the jobs, the pride in the finished product.

I try to add exercise or extra steps daily. My vacation will be TOPS IRD at Orlando and not sure what exercise opportunites will be available there. When you are with a group, you need to stay together or at least with several in the group.

There are a few stairs in our town but I won't be going to those buildings. We don't have escalators or other people movers either. We "is" country. lol But I did park way out in the parking lot and walk from store to store and not move the car from sstore to store.
