It is alot of good habits over and over! Take it slow add a good habit each day till they all become routine. Eat breakfest with in half and hour of getting up. Eat every 2.5 to 3 hours. Plan your meals and snacks. Sleep 7 to 8 hours a night. Work in excerise when ever posible example take stairs, shake a foot during a song you like. Find co works to walk with during breaks. Talk to family and friends. Take your time every day is a new one. The list goes on!!

I agree that it requires patience. And patience with oneself. A need to forgive and a need to persist. I believe that if I stick with it I will succeed.

I think the big secret is patience leads to progress. Lose weight slowly. If you only lose 1 pound a week you know it's real weight you are losing and not just water weight. From everything I've read people who lose weight slowly are more likely to lose weight and be successful at keeping it off. We put on all the excess weight over years so we can't expect it to come off quickly. We all know the rest, all things in moderation, eat less move more, portion control, make gradual changes, set smaller goals, retrain your taste buds and find new things you like so you don't feel deprived.

The difference between
a winner and a loser is
a 'hare'

My secret is small, obtainable goals, big rewards, repeat, repeat, repeat! Work on one pound not 100! Work on one meal not 21. Learn portion control not food deprivation. Everything in moderation. An enjoyable walk in the woods will work instead of that dreaded trip to the health club. I let myself be happy with a lifestyle change instead of thinking "yes, I'm on ANOTHER diet." Sparkpeople has been the best place me on this journey.

My secret is to never give up. I still stumble and fail at times. There are times I overeat. But I treat each new day as a new opportunity to begin again. I try not to look at my past but to look forward. I haven't arrived yet, but when I started I was 365. I also have learned you lose 100 pounds one ounce at a time. In the beginning the task seems like an impossible dream. It takes dedication, determination, a support network and never giving up no matter what. But I'm evidence it can be done.

My Rewards!

1. When i reach 260 pounds, I'm buying myself a Civil War Book from Amazon.

2. When I reach 250 pounds, I'm rewarding myself with a new outfit.

3. When I reach 235 pounds, I plan on going skydiving. I also plan on shouting for joy in Praise to Jesus no matter where I am at.

I have found what helps me the most is tracking my food and water. I am still learning my way around this site but I have faithfully logged now for a month and I have lost 12.75 pound's. It helps when you can see the fact's of what you ate. It keep's me aware of my choice's. I have been drinking my 64 oz of water also which I have alway's hated because I just don't drink that much in a day. I am feeling good that I am moving in the right direction and this is the longest I have stayed consistant in awhile. My next hurdle will be "EXERCISE". I hate to sweat so I do not do anything that would cause me to sweat. I have a job that I sit at all day with very little walking. I try to force myself when I remember at work to go outside for a quick break and walk a couple lap's around the building. I have such a long way to go but I need to get this weight OFF.... emoticon

Everyone's secret might be different - but for me -- the challenge is to focus just on today, and in making good choices each day, I will build consistent success over time.

I just need to worry about today though -- and let tomorrow take care of itself!
