Hi..... I'm new to the boards and diabetes -- just diagnosed the end of February 2013. The doctor said it was pre-diabetes, but my bs numbers are in the diabetic range I understand. Either way, I'm having problems. I weigh 326 -- losing 15 lbs since that appointment in February. My goal is 150, since I am 58 and don't expect to weigh what I did in high school.
I've been able to follow the diabetes management program on Sparkpeople, but I have problems at night, after dinner with overeating. The usual culprits are peanut butter and crackers or bread. So my bs, even though it is pretty good throughout the day, skyrockets at night, even with Metformin at dinner. I think the only thing to do is throw out the peanut butter, but being a vegetarian it has become a protein source for me. Does anyone else have a problem with overeating? Should I schedule snacks at night?
During the day, I am happy with smaller amounts than I'm used to eating. It's just in the evening where I have the problem. I think I can distract myself during the day better. I've failed every weight loss program
and don't want to fail this one especially because my health/life depends on it. Any suggestions? Need a little encouragement.
