most of the monitors here are relatively inexpensive...$20 +/- because the strips are dependent on the monitor! so that worked for me.

Thanks RAGAMUFFINKEL .. I am using the One Touch Ultra 2 which was provided by diabetes health care educator.. they provided a great kit for newbies. The best I've seen so far is Walmart 100@$79. Have yet to look at Costco. I am going to talk with the pharmacist to get prices with regard to other monitors and their cost for strips.

unfortunately test strips are proprietary and totally based on the blood glucose meter that tou use, in recent months, two or three countries in the US have come out with monitors that are providing guaranteed pricing for tests strips at the moment i can't recall which ones, but i think they are specific to US consumers. i do not have insurance, but have fared well contacting communicating with my pharmacist re supplies. i purchased a true track monitor and am able to get 100 strips for approx $45 @ wal-mart. Also in US we are inundated by tv ads for companies that provide medicare coverage and want to ship supplies @ no cost to consumer--I have not bothered checking wiht any of those companies.
do you ave any friends that are diabetics, they may be your best resource!

I live in Canada, in Ontario. I am a newly diagnosed diabetic on insulin twice daily and required to test 3-4 times daily. Can anyone suggest the best source (price) for test strips? I think the industry is really 'milking' on this account. I see prices about $1 down to $.80 per strip ..is that insane or what! Lances and needles are not a big expense and even my insulin won't be too bad with assistance from the Canadian Diabetes Association..but test strips, crazy.

This Spark site is awesome!

Thanks
b
