We had a "Walk Across America" for charity where I work and everyone had a great time trying to fit more steps into their day. I have been taking the stairs down (can't go up because of security) and getting off the bus a stop or two early ever since.

Sounds like a good idea...but I work on the 37th floor!!! Not happening! Hate doing it when we have a fire drill. We do have internal stairs in our offices and we have 9 floors. I do take them down. I try to take a couple of them up, but I made the mistake of trying to do all nine and nearly passed out.

My daughter recently moved into the dorms at college and the building she is in has an interesting rule. To minimize the demand for the elevator, they request that you take the stairs down and the elevator up. My daughter lives on the 7th floor so that's a lot of stairs, but she does it and enjoys it.
It got me thinking, that's not a bad way to exercise. I work on the 6th floor of my building, I could take the stairs down too. So starting today, part of my exercise plan will be to take the stairs down.
