glucose monitor test 110mg/dl at 0700hrs (fasting). My next test is before going to sleep. I test twice a day as per recommendation from my RN..

7.1 mmol/L. (128 mg/dL)

No meds. A few days ago I was doing renovation work and didn't have time to eat properly and ate 3 Atkins bars (19 grams of carbs each) in addition to some other carbs, probably bringing me to near 100. My morning BS then was 8.7 mmol/L. ( 157 mg/dL).

Yes 90 grams of carbs in a day is too much for me.

For a diabetic eating "sensibly" means seriously lowering carbohydrates. If your blood sugar is lower, and you are tracking what you eat, then you'll find you were eating fewer carbs. Check that out.

I eat 20 to 50 grams of carbs a day.

FBS 108, post-dinner 94. I didn't take any pre-meal insulin today --so I'm surprised the numbers were pretty decent. I find that when I track my food --time consuming but worth the effort-- and work especially hard at eliminating as much sodium as possible from my meals, my other numbers (carbs, fats, proteins) are staying much closer to my goals. I'm hoping I get to the point where I can manage my blood glucose and eliminate insulin altogether WITHOUT having to log my food. Then I'll know I have turned a corner on eating sensibly and healthy.

Suggestions on what to eat are to only buy foods that are 6% carbs by weight, or less. Carbs raise blood sugar.

Meat is OK, cheese and fat is OK, most vegetables are OK. Only a few fruits match this, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries are on the OK list.

I am testing just below my thumb in the meaty section that doesn't hurt much. Is anyone else testing there, too? I'm not sure I'm doing this right because my numbers don't change much between morning and evening and don't show much difference between when I eat right (the last few days, excluding Easter) and when I overeat including sweets (Easter dinner.) I'd better call the diabetes clinic and ask.
