thanks, those are some great tips....I would have to refrain from the beans as a major sourse of carbs, but I will defintely keep a stock for emergencies. I didn't think about bulgur and quinoa as good protein source, thanks for the inspiration! I hope to read some more posts on this....
I struggle with the same thing too! I have 3 1/2 year old twins and you would think they were teenagers based on their appetites! My husband also works from home so we ALL eat every meal at home. And I also can't get to the grocery store very often because I have them! When I run out of food, here are my (mostly protein) back-ups (which I buy in bulk so that I never run out): eggs (scrambled eggs for dinner is a must once in a while), boca burgers or morning star veggie burgers (i eat them plain but I cook them with cheese for the others), canned salmon (can make salmon burgers out of them), BEANS, beans, beans (can make chili, 3-bean salad, or just microwave them with olive oil and some spices - Yum!), bulger, quinoa (great protein too)....... That's all I can think of for now. BOL!

anyone want to share weekly shopping list for a family?? I keep running out of proteins before the next shopping trip...I have 3 kids (2 teenagers) and my husband works here at the ranch, so he's in for breaks, lunch etc, and I can't seem to keep enough food in the house....good quality food....especially when i try to have stuff for them and separate stuff for me...I can only shope about every 2 weeks...the kids eat EVERYTHING! I was also wondering about your snacks, what your daily menus look like....looking for some inspration, tomorrow is grocery day....
