I do perfectly fine with rum or bourbon and diet coke! I've actually started having it a little more often. I used to be a once a week or even once every two week drinker, but now it's at least a few times per week. Instead of having a lot, I'll have a couple of drinks at a time and just occasionally have more. The balance works well for me!
I do best with non-sugary drinks. I don't drink juice at all either. I stick with zero to low calorie beverages and try to keep my alcoholic beverages as low as possible as well. Of course the liquor itself has some, but I try to keep the mixers calorie-free. The best part is that rum or bourbon with diet coke is my favorite drink! I also do enjoy champagne and certain kinds of wine, but I don't have them as often. I don't feel too bloated after having these, as long as they are in moderation as well.
I don't really think the 55-calorie beers will help anyone lose weight/maintain their weight, if they are regular drinkers - I think it's too much of a temptation to try to drink more, or if you simply don't like the taste, you'll order a regular beer, and just be drinking more calories anyway!
Well I am a flavored martini girl! I love the sparkly little girlie drinks.... lots of sugar but oh so good! I just drink them in moderation. I don't really go for desserts so my martini is my dessert so in reality better than the chocolate cake!

My latest drink of choice is rum and club soda with a lime twist. it's almost like a mojito without the mint and sugar. club soda has no calories or carbs which is perfect for me since i'm on the atkins diet. good luck to all!

Aside from the suggestions all ready posted, does anyone have any input? Going out this weekend and have managed to not drink in 3 weeks, but know I will this weekend and the more information I have the better.

Light beer seems to be the obvious choice when on a diet. The average lite beer is less than 100 calories with some of the new ultra beers having even less. If you can keep your consumption of these beers to two or under a day this is a good choice. The problem with lite beer is the quantity that most people can drink. Many people can consume multiple light beers with ease. Though each beer has few calories they start to add up having if you have 4-6 on a night.

The average person who could drinks 5 light beers will probably only be able to drink one dark beer, and the total calories. You total calories from one dark beer will be less than the 5 light beer calorie total.
Wine in moderation has been known to lower the risk of heart disease. It doesnít seem to be wine specifically, but the stress relieving properties of alcohol, as long as they are consumed in moderation. Wine works the same as light beer, less than 100 calories per glass and one fat exchange on the LIVE diet plan.
Bacardi and Diet Coke
One Bacardi and Diet Coke has 66 calories. Two of these mixed drinks are only a few more calories than one beer. Two Bacardi and diet Cokes are a lot less caloric than many beers on the market. This isnít Bacardi specific, most distilled spirits and diet soda are going to be around the same number of calories. Remember that even though they have less calories, your liver doesnít care when it comes to the amount of alcohol. Moderation of 2 or less is still best. Bacardi and Diet Coke is simply the most popular, which I found out while in Puerto Rico touring the Bacardi Distillery.
